If you’re into doing stuff outdoors, this is probably a good place for you to go. It is literally and island and it’s very dog friendly. This is probably why we prefer to go here as opposed to Smishop Park in Whyandotte. Today we came to partake in fishing because we have newbies from the Philippines. We did want to show them what it is to be in pure michigan. Plus the silver bass is running ATM, so they’re guaranteed to catch some fishes. The boardwalk is very long and it’s a great place to cast. Plus there’s a lot of spot to go on so it doesn’t feel as crowded at all. There is other things in the park for the non fishers. There are hiking trails, picturesque bridge for photo ops and picnic tables for whoever wants to break bread and shoot the breeze. We had a lot of fun catching fish here at Elizabeth Park, thank you for a great #rei1440project day.

One of the largest parks Downriver. They have paved trails that are popular with people walking or on wheels(bikes, roller blades, skateboards, etc). During the busy season there’s a pony livery, concession stand, and marina available. They have exercise stations near the entrance on the left side of the park. There are plenty of easy access points for fishing. The water table is high; so after a rainy spell or post snow melt the park is soaked and full of mud puddles. Additionally, people do not pick up after their dogs and the park is littered with waterfowl waste. For these reasons, I would recommend rain boots if you plan on walking off the paved path for any length of time.
