Amazing bookstore! Used books that are paperback are all half off the retail price. Pretty decent. I think what I loved most about this bookstore was the fact that they almost every single genre you could think of. I ended up leaving with 3 books and was very pleased with my selection. Definitely a must-go-to for anyone who enjoys reading.

Expensive! Hardcovers are $ 5, which is a good deal. Paperbacks are 50% off retail price, not a good deal. Sometimes these are a little beat up or old, not uncommon for used books, so I don’t want to pay $ 8 for them. Lots of books in a small store, with a few too many romance novels. Very nice sales staff though, just not what I was looking for.

The only bad thing about the Booktrader is that I can’t read books fast enough to find and excuse to be there more often. It’s everything I love in a bookstore: A quiet, small business with too many books to fit on the shelves. Part of the fun is digging thru the boxes or piles of recently traded books to look for gems. I never go in there hoping to find a certain book, but I always walk out of there with something that I hadn’t been expecting to find.

This is my absolute favorite used bookstore. And I’ve explored many. Joan, the owner, is just wonderful. The deals can’t be beat, ½ off paperbacks and $ 5 for hardcovers. And, like many used bookstores, you can trade in books and build up credit to put toward the ones you buy. They have a great selection and if you don’t see something, ask. They have books stored in the basement too. It’s small and chaotic and sometimes you have to dig around but isn’t that part of the fun of it? I’m going to miss being so close to this place after I move. :(
