We went camping at Perrot in August 2015. We had a great time despite the heat and no swimming spots in the park. We arrived Friday night and got settled into our sites. We had 5 adults and three cars so we needed to reserve two campsites. The campsites were private and nicely sized. Flush toilets and showers were a quick walk away. We took advantage of the great accessibility to the bike trail, climbed one of the trails up the bluff and explored Trempealeau. Because it was so hot we found a swimming spot under the bridge up in Winona. Next time we go we’re definitely going to check out the supper club you pass on the way into the park, it looked like they had a great deck!

I came here recently with my fiancé for my first EVER camping trip and it was so great! The park is well-maintained and clean, and the staff were helpful and friendly. The individual camping sites feel intimate and shielded from other campers, but not completed isolated. Each campsite had a picnic table/bench as well as a fire pit, and the firewood was available for $ 4/bundle. There were also shower and toilet facilities, which was great to ease me into camping without overwhelming me! The park has canoeing/kayaking available for a reasonable price, and a few hiking trails. Although I saw some volleyball nets, I wasn’t sure what other activities were available. We stayed for two days and that seemed to be a reasonable amount of time to get to know the area and hit up the main attractions.

One word, amazing. Ok another word, majestic. This is a gorgeous state park!!! Beautiful landscape of rolling hills and bluffs all with the Mississippi weaving through them. This park offers hiking, camping, kayaking and much more! I have camped here in the past and had a fabulous experience, definitely recommend.

Awesome place! Take the Brady’s Bluff trail or the Riverview trail, camp at the many camp sites, rent canoes and take a loop around the canoe trail, or connect to the Great River State bike trail. I worked here for several seasons I know the staff really care about the park and want to make sure visitors have a great time.

We love this park! We go back every year, sometimes twice a year. The campsites are large and private. The facilities aren’t immaculate but it is camping… There are trails for any skill level or ability. We’ve always found the staff to be pleasant. It can get pretty hot and buggy in the middle of summer but that’s just what you get in WI in the summer. The canoe rentals at the office make a nice relaxing couple hours. Some of the spots get a little shallow and you have to walk the canoe through.

While our visit happened to take place during Catfish Days in nearby Trempeleau, the hot weather meant the park was fairly quiet. Facilities were all in reasonably good shape, though the restroom could have been cleaner. Campsites are spaced at a reasonable distance for peace and quiet and ours had a nice view of the bay where the the Trempeleau River flows into the Mississippi. The staff at the office were friendly and helped us select a nice hike up Brady’s Bluff, which offers great views of the river valley. I don’t think it makes sense as a multi-day destination, but it is a nice enough place to drop in for a day and get away from the city.

Perrot Park is one of the hidden gems of the Coulée Region. Wonderful campgrounds, trails, and while the maintenance personnel are somewhat incompetent and self-important, just try to avoid them and you’ll have a good time. Some of the«trails too muddy» signs get left up almost the entire year, not because they are muddy, but because the staff gets too lazy to do certain trail maintenance, and it’s easier to just leave up the muddy trails sign than it is to do work. But the lack of good staff doesn’t keep Perrot Park from being any less than spectacular. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not everyone at the park, just some of the«people in charge» who sit back in their little air conditioned offices and do nothing. Many of the public educational events at the park are hosted by guest speakers and they are wonderful.
