A Sunset Beach institution! I buy Reef sandals here, as they always have a good selection of my favorite sandal brand.
The staff is always helpful, and it is as laid back as you would expect from a surf shop. If you catch Joe in the store, say hello, he’s the owner and is always friendly to me.
If you don’t see a product in your size on the rack, ask, as they store inventory up stairs and behind the sandals wall.

great shop, really went above and beyond. called them needing an old discontinued fin and they got my number, told me theyd check. dug around back for a while and found me a set, called me back within 15 mins. threw them in to make sure theyd fit too.

i am adding a new review to my prior (bad) review because I think when a business rights a wrong, that should be noted. Due to my prior issue when attempting to rent paddle boards, Joe contacted me and offered me a very nice deal in order to make up for my unfortunate experience. The new experience was awesome! Rental process was easy and quick (just call a day ahead if you can so that they can be prepared). We got two very nice boards taken right to a beautiful and very easy put in on the intracoastal. We were out for over 4 hours. Got back, called their number and someone came to retrieve the boards in minutes. We were able to leave our car at the put in (free!) so it was very convenient. Staff was pleasant and efficient and the entire day has earned them a repeat customer for sure.

I might be a little biased as I worked here for more than 10 years. Still love going back, sitting on the porch and listening to stories about the olé days. Having opened in 1966 it’s a true surfing, and Florida landmark. Go say hi to Joe. Tell em Dustin sent ya.

What an awesome surf shop! Stopped in for a few Xmas gifts and right away we were greeted by the owner. He was not only helpful with our shopping needs but so very charming! He told us stories of his shop which he has had for over 40 years and as we looked over the history of the shop with the pictures on the walls he reminisced of his encounters with Ray Liotta, Paris Hilton, and even Jimmy Buffet! Great lil shop I can’t wait to return!

I’ve rented paddle boards a few times from here with friends. Joe and his staff are really helpful! They helped us get the boards to and from the beach and they’ve offered helpful tips every time we’ve rented. One of my friends even had them pick them up down the beach a bit after a day of paddling.
The rates are good for rentals, the shop has loads of merchandise, and the rental boards are great!
I highly recommend renting from them if you need equipment!

They are THE MOST knowledgeable folks on the subject of boards (Paddle or Surf) on the West coast of FL They go way out of their way to educate, help and care! Much more than just a store… it’s a destination. Home!!!

These folks treat you like family. No they dont call you to remind you to mow the yard! They are super helpful, friendly and just all around great people. No matter what end of the beach you are on for service selection and vibe this is THE place to go!

Great Selection of boards and board boardshorts

I really like this place, and it has a good variety of boards.
We rented a long board for a whole $ 20 that’s hella cheap, which was my favorite part of the shop, over all great prices (that includes appreal, rentals, boards etc.) for an off the street surf shop.

As far as surf-​shops go beach-​side, this is my definite go-​to location. Plenty of selection in gear will get you suited up right. I sometimes have a little trouble getting someone’s attention to help out but I’m generally in there on busy weekends so it might not be the best guage to work with.
I’ve also rented paddle-​boards from here a few times and they’re great in getting you set up properly for a fair price.
Solid shop with a surprisingly (and awesome!) wide selection, but if you’re going to make a big purchase, make sure you do some research on your own first.

Suncoast Surf Shop brings back so many memories. This is where I purchased my first surfboard and where my father got back into surfing after 30 years of being away.
They’re a great help at Suncoast. anything skateboard/​surfboard/​outdoorsy related, they’ll set you on the right foot. Clothing is a little expensive here, but that’s to be expected of specialty shops. There’s not many places on the east coast of Florida in this region that can set you up with a surfboard — since surfing is mostly done on the Atlantic coast. They sell used and new boards, and also do minimal repairs.
Upstairs is a huge loft just filled with surfboards. Old photos cling to the walls and they’re always having some kind of sidewalk sale. The owners live nextdoor and they’re very helpful when you’re learning about surfing. They will let you know of all the local spots and upcoming surf contests.
Robert August (famous surfer from the movie Endless Summer in the 1960s) has been here a couple of times. Great place to check out even if you’re not interested in surfing/​skateboarding, you may learn a thing or two.
