So surprised by all the bad reviews. I’ve stayed in many hotels and this one wasn’t bad at all. Sure it’s «dated» in some respects but it gives it the old vintage feel. Bayshore is the same way and we love it there too. As for the customer service, I engaged with them at least 4 times throughout my stay and they were all helpful and pleasant. After reading all the poor reviews I wanted to cancel my reservation and am so glad I didn’t and saw for myself. It’s also so convenient that Minerva’s is right downstairs. Not many hotels in TC offer room service.

Plan on being harassed by the parking staff. Embarrassingly confrontational and unapologetic. We understand that people are trying to get free parking, but it cost almost nothing to be polite.

This is my third time staying here. The only good things I have to say about this hotel is its in a great location and the food at the restaurant Minerva’s is delicious. Other then the two reasons listed I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. Last time our air conditioning wasn’t working. We were moved to another room and it was broken on that room as well. We were then informed that the whole system was down. The hotel had a very funky smell that was very unbecoming. The room itself is pretty standard. It needs a serious update and a good cleaning. This most recent visit my keys didn’t work when I got to my room. After exchanging them ones till didn’t work. The desk staff couldn’t have been more rude. We had three different rooms reserved and not one of our keys worked. One of the rooms had a broken phone. All I received was a lecture from the woman at the front desk as to the changes with the new phone system. I was told there was a paper by the phone listing instructions. There wasn’t! At least I got a hearty lecture out of my trip to the front desk. Upon walking into the room the bed looked like someone slept in it. It was completely uninviting. The entire Hotel smelled like rotten food. I can’t really understand why something hasn’t been done to correct this. Bottom line, there are plenty of hotels. Stay elsewhere!

If you can get past the rude front desk employees, smell of vomit from the restaurant and alarming level of caked on grit and grime, this place is 5 stars! The location is great. The positives stop here. Don’t waste your money. Traverse city seems to be stuck in a time warp where video rental places and beanie babies are all the rage. AVOID.

The Good: Location The Bad: everything else. Staff was not helpful or friendly aside from ONE maintenance man we encountered on the elevator literally on our way to check out. Rooms and bathroom are very dated, think budget hotel but with insanely high prices. Housekeeping staff left cleaning supplies in our bathroom — not sure if it was a hint we were supposed to do our own cleaning? The rooms and bathrooms are fairly clean but not what you would expect for the price you pay. The fitted sheets did not fit properly and kept coming off the mattress at the corners — HATE that, so annoying! We stayed here to attend a cousins wedding(NOT held on property) and several other wedding guests had similar experiences with staff and the facilities. Overall: I would NOT recommend this hotel. We lived in Traverse City for 20+ years and had this been our first experience to the area, I would NEVER come back. So sad too because it’s such a great town! Get a true up-north experience and stay ANYWHERE else.

Fantastic location! Stayed there for my first trip to Traverse City recently and we didn’t even need our car, walking distance to nearly everything! We had a nice suite on the 8th floor with a great view of the bay that could be seen from our bed. The bathroom was a little strange, as you had to hurdle yourself up and over the side of the tub that was elevated on a platform to take a shower. Good thing I’m tall! One morning I stepped into the hallway to smell the overwhelming aroma of someone’s nasty cigarette. I alerted the front desk and they actually seemed as disturbed as I was. This was the first and last time I smelled it during our stay, so kudos to the staff for making sure rules were enforced. There was a huge storm while we were in Traverse City, and while the elevators were affected, our power never went out and we never lost cable. Very helpful during a very rainy and windy night! There is outdoor parking only but covered bicycle parking and such an easy walk to all of downtown. Would stay here again!

We stayed at the Park Place for our recent honeymoon and we were very happy with our choice! The hotel itself is a little older and outdated, but at least it’s in a classy way and not an outdated 90s way! We stayed off season so the hotel was very quiet and not very busy. Our room was small, but had a king bed, clean bathroom and gorgeous view. What really sold us on our decision to stay at the Park Place is the location, you are in downtown. Everything was walkable and we only needed the car when we visited a few wineries. We were able to bar hop, wander the streets/shops and eat at a variety of places. We went to the Beacon Lounge at the top of the hotel and the view was amazing. You can literally see everything. Since we were there on a Monday it wasn’t an issue getting a seat. There isn’t a fancy pool or up to date workout room(although they have both), the beds are comfortable(just not super plush) and the bathroom was clean(just not spacious). We didn’t stay in our room much and we weren’t staying in the summer when we would want to go to the beach, but this hotel was perfect for two young people looking for a centrally located place that was walkable to everything. We didn’t have to worry about driving or parking. The staff were very accommodating and even let us have a later checkout. We had a discounted rate through the TC Escape package. The Park Place isn’t listed as a hotel that is included in the package online but if you call they have it.
