We ate here Saturday night after receiving glowing recommendations from locals. We waited 45 minutes for a table and then my husband had to stand for half an hour until a chair became available for him. We each ordered a half salad — one was the Smokey and the other was the Greek. Both were excellent. We did not receive our pizza order until about 8:30, an hour and a half after we got there. Not impressed. We ordered a pepperoni and a protein pizza. Both were overcooked, especially the protein. We couldn’t understand all the fuss. If we go back, it’ll be for the salads! As an aside, our waitress was friendly :)

Seriously the best pizza and salad I’ve come across in this area! Great people, fun atmosphere. Highly recommend!

I’ve eaten here many times. Staff is friendly and pizza is arguably the best I’ve had since moving from NY.

SODELICIOUS. We went late on a Friday(8:15ish) and had to wait. We called ahead and got on the list before we got there, but still waited about 20 minutes. It was so packed! We ended up sitting at the bar but the service was still good there and we weren’t too close to the door so it was warm. Had the margarita pizza and it was awesome!

Don’t let my Star rating diswade you from at least trying this place. It’s an interesting hole-in-the-wall atmosphere. Obviously an old garage that they built a restaurant in. Now the food… The pizza was fine. It was okay. I have had better from other local places. Bertolo’s comes to mind. Heck! Even Papa John’s pizza was better than this. The crust was at least decent. Not great, but decent. The pizza was thin and greasy. The worst part was that for a cheaper price and most other local pizza joints, you’ll get a lot more pizza for the money. Sidewall was pretty pricey. $ 15 for a 14 inch pizza. Pretty thin. Minimal cheese. Everything that goes on the pizza is extra. Drinks and Desert: The only really interesting thing was that they made their own soda. No Coke or Pepsi products. They have a decent sized craft beer(in bottle) menu(only 4 on Tap) They made their own Ice cream. However you only get a single scoop for $ 5. Expensive as hell. The only reason we even bought desert was because all of the money from the sale was donated to charity. Overall: Try it once just to experience it. But for the money you probably won’t go back. At least not for the food. Not impressive. Just another crappy hometown pizza joint.

This place is great! Make sure to make a reservation, as it’s not that big and there’s usually a line out the door. I’ve eaten here several times with friends and family and always had a five star experience. The salads are amazing, best I’ve had in a very long time. Last time we split the special bacon pizza which was awesome. Good selection of beer and I’ve heard they have good ice cream but I’m always too full for dessert. I highly recommend this place!

Second time here and I’ve LOVED both pizzas I’ve tried-Sweet Heat and the Meatball. I’ll definitely be back.

Pros: Delicious food. Salads are my favorite, pizza and ice cream are great as well. Good service. Takes reservations. Offers specials using seasonal ingredients. Cons: uncomfortable seating, way too loud/poor acoustics, no waiting area. Sidewall is one of my favorite restaurants. However, they really need to make a solve during the winter for almost no indoor waiting area. As I ate dinner tonight at the table closest to the door, I had people standing over me or their butt by my face while the we tried to enjoy the meal. Add a tent with a heater or something outdoors to allow for overflow.

Hands down the best pizza I’ve had since moving to the south. I’m a Pennsylvania transplant living in my husband’s native SC and while I like some aspects, the lack of good pizza was certainly a negative. We recently stumbled upon Sidewall and decided to check it out. We were pleasantly surprised. The service was adequate despite the crowd, the food is droll-worthy, and the prices are reasonable for the quality you receive. The open floor plan and airy views of the bustling street are very nice. If you find yourself in Traveler’s Rest and want excellent pizza, stop here!

Why two stars? The restaurant is not very walk-in friendly, and the current seating system is discouraging to potential customers. Let me explain. We arrived around 6:15pm on a Saturday evening, without a reservation(I had no idea they required/took reservations). The restaurant was busy, with perhaps 10 – 12 people waiting in front of us for a table. We were told the wait would be an hour and fifteen minutes. We stayed, thinking that surely the line would not take that long. Sure enough, within 30 minutes, everyone in front of us had been seated. We then watched as around 8 tables walked in and were seated immediately, in front of us. Finally, around 8pm, we were seated. We had stood by the door and watched as nearly every table in the restaurant cycled through 1 – 2 groups being seated, eating and leaving. I understand that Sidewall has a reservation system, but if you’re going to offer walk-in service, then you have to seat those people. They are paying customers as well, and you can’t continually cycle reservations in front of walk-ins until you reach a point of no more reservations. If it had not been our first time, we would have either walked out or not spent much money. I really hate to give this kind of review, because the food was great. The service once we were seated was wonderful as well. We tried almost everything– beer, breadsticks, pizza and ice cream. Sidewall is making wonderful food in a great atmosphere, so I really hope the seating system is reconsidered!

Great pizza and food! Hoping they expand the size of the restaurant one day because the seating and wait can be a drawback since they are so popular.

So many great options. Love their salads, and they are great at accommodating food allergies. The owners take pride in their restaurant and it’s obvious. Their breadsticks are the best!

Very much enjoyed our first visit to Sidewall in TR after trying to go two previous times but the waits were too long. We ordered breadsticks, and two pizzas which was more than enough for 4. The Hot Hawaiian was delicious, but the fresh jalapeños were very hot. It was a busy Black Friday evening. The restaurant was full and many folks were picking up to-go orders which slowed the service(hence the 4 stars), but out server was outstanding and constantly checking on us and refilling drinks. We will definitely return. Pro-tip: call to make a reservation ahead of time as the space is small!

So friendly and welcoming! We were a party of 10– with 5 kids– and still, nothing but smiles. Yummy food: try the Arugula and potato Pizza! The ice cream is yummster– the special was carrot cake– so ya, we got our veggies in. Nice selection of local beers and decent but cheap wine. The kids were in love with hand crafted soda.

After living in Charlotte for 2 years and having family in Greenville, we noticed a lot of people talk about sidewall. It was on our bucket list to try next time we were in town. We were immediately greeted by two people who I assume were the managers or owners. We sat at the bar. Whole place has a clean industrial feel with beautiful paintings from locals. The bartender was really helpful. I wasn’t sure about the black cherry soda and she let me sample it first. It was delicious! We got the breadsticks. The crushed tomato sauce was good! Breadsticks came to us piping hot. We got the meatball pizza as our entrée. It was amazing! Crust was even and soft. Right amount of sauce. Two meatballs on each slice. The meatballs were so delicious. They were so soft and tender. Obviously homemade which I love! You can see the herbs and spices in it with very small onions. It was so good. I wish they will sell the meatballs itself as a appetizer. After we paid, we started to walk toward the from door and either the manager or owner raced us to the door to open it for us. Little gestures like that make a difference. Not only do they genuinely care about their restaurant but they also care about their guests. Now I know why this is the new spot to go to. Can’t wait to go back and try the protein pizza or shrimp scampi pizza!

Wow. Pizza in Travelers Rest with 5 stars ?!? Oh Yeah ! It’s that good. It’s brick oven good, this is NOT a $ 5 pizza. This is a hand crafted made to order, you create or they have some awesome creations. I created a garlic sauce with feta and Peppers and pepperoni and mushrooms. It was amazing ! They have fresh salads, lots of beers as well as their own homemade sodas. They also have a new and truly different flavor ice cream everyday. If you are lucky enough to be there when they have Key Lime you must try it and you won’t regret it . It’s worth the drive and the wait . Closed on Monday.

Travelers rest has become a hotbed of really neat places to enjoy a casual meal. I read the reviews and the food was pretty much as had been described by previous reviewer’s. The crust is excellent! Our waiter, Mike was incredibly friendly and didn’t seem to mind that me and my date sat there for three hours. The menu is very eclectic. They have all sorts of unusual pizza pies to choose from or, you can do what we did, and build a traditional pepperoni and mushroom pizza. Ingredients all seemed fresh and the price on the pizza was what I thought to be reasonable. The one thing that bothered me, other than the noisiness of the place, was that they don’t list the price of the beverages. I was shocked when I got my bill and had been charged three dollars for unsweet tea. This infuriated me. I realize that many restaurants pad their income by charging more for nonalcoholic beverages; however, three dollars is far and away gouging. Because of the friendliness of the staff and the taste of the food, I would probably return, but be warned! Get water. The atmosphere is nice but it is in a Butler building with a cement floor. So, it gets noisy quickly.

I’m a TR native but have lived in DC for 30 years. Have a kid at Rutgers in NJ. The two of us went with my father to have pizza tonight and it was outstanding! We had Hot Hawaiian and Hot Italian. Excellent on all counts but I was particularly fond of the crispy crust. I can’t believe TR has such a gem. Strange to see TR become a hipster Mecca.

Sidewall Pizza has NAILED pizza crust! Their toppings are hearty and plentiful, too. I have been eating their gluten-free crust recently and love the thin crust with their Antipasta toppings! This is not your $ 5 Little Ceasars special! This is scratch made dough, beautiful, thoughtfully sourced toppings perfectly balanced. I love their potato pizza! It sounds weird, but it works! I love having a cream soda with my slices. Their salads are also beautiful! No iceberg lettuce here! Instead you’ll find kale and spinach with seasonal toppings. Don’t miss the ice cream for dessert. They post daily flavor options on their Facebook page.

This is what you want your neighborhood pizzeria to be. If you live in or are visiting Traveler’s Rest, a visit to Sidewall Pizza Co. should be at the top of your to do list. Locally-sourced toppings, nice char from the brick oven, craft beers and sodas, and homemade ice cream in a fun, energetic space.
