I came to the Tracy Outlets because I «thought» there was a Famous Footwear here. Well, there probably used to be one, but now the Outlets consist of Levi’s, Carter’s, and 30 empty storefronts. Very very sad! Someone’s business model went sour, this place will probably be a Walmart or Frys soon.

So this place is pretty empty and abandoned. I did buy 2 dresses from a store hip — 2 for $ 25 which was cool but they did accidentally charge me for it 3 times. Maybe I’m spoiled but I was expecting an outlet(came to visit family) and nope… not too great.

If you want to see the effects of the recession in Tracy, come here. I was heading to Forever 21 in Modesto only to find out it is closed for remodeling. On the drive back home we seen signs for this and decided to stop by. Most store fronts have a few racks of clothes inside. The more abundent stores(Levi’s, Lane Bryant, Gap) hardly have enough of a markdown or outlet prices to warrent visiting. Lane Bryant had clothes that were really out of date and so overpriced I didn’t understand how this was an outlet. However, it gets a star for simply having merchandise in the store as opposed to the other stores. Gap was a lot more pleasing. There was a good selection and decent prices. I found a great purple skirt for only 5 bucks! There was also a random store where everything was $ 2! I found a great purse that retailed for $ 30 and a nice pj top. There are some other store fronts I didn’t want to trek into, Reebok being one of them. I only recommend locals come here if they have the patience to go through out of date clothing to find cheap basics.

One word. HORRIBLE! I wouldn’t waste your time here. The only reason these outlets save you money is because there are NO stores for you to shop at! Make the drive to either Vacaville Outlets or Gilroy Outlets!

My husband has no problems about me going to this outlet. That is because there are only 2 maybe 3 stores I would actually spend money in! They have lost a lot more store — Liz C is closed, there was a party store here but thats gone too. There is one little food place but whenever we do go here we hit up Sonic on the way home to reprive ourselves. But these are the ones I usually go to for a quick pick-up… *Gap Outlet — Nice when you have coupons and Credit Card holders Reward Card. Good place to buy basics — white t’s, tanks, good enough denim and seasonal stuff. They have some really sales and most of this stuff is made just for Outlets but its still better than Old Gravy, Um, I mean Old Navy. *Vans — Black on Black slip ons, Checkered slip ons, Baby Van’s, Hoody’s and a few Collectables. Hubby lives in Van’s(Thanks to me!) and owns about 50 pairs(we are show whores — thanks to me) Not too expensive and its mostly self serve, which I like because I hate rejection when I am told my feet are too enormous and they don’t have my size. *Carter’s — AWESOME for layette, infant, toddlers! MUST sign-up for their coupons but I am an employee so I can’t use them but they are such a deal on top of their already low prices. Its the same stuff that Macy’s, Kohl’s, JCP and BRU carry just a lower price point. Most of the time they receive their seasonal items before the department stores. Super friendly staff, not too hard to shop around in this store. Boys on one side, Girls on the other. Both starting with Layette going to Toddlers in the back. *Corningware/Corelle — I can throw these plates at the hubby and they won’t break — believe me I have tried! Nice supplies for basic kitchen items and some party items!

At first glance, you might think to yourself«why don’t they just bulldoze this place and make houses?». But in fairness, this outlet center is good if you don’t like fighting for parking, and shopping amongst the crowd masses. You can always find a parking spot here and the selection of stores are somewhat ok. But the place is pretty dead in terms of shops when you compare it to some of the better outlets of California such as Cabazon, Barstow, or Gilroy. Just remember this is Tracy so there is always that Central Valley cow smell lingering in the air as well as dust flying everywhere on windy days.

My bro had to take his wife and visiting mother-in-law out for shopping. We got a late start so we went to the closest outlet mall… here. This outlet mall is perfect for guys… its small, uncrowded, and prices were truly cheap(unlike your typical run-of-the-mill outlets that have a gazillion stores and the prices are almost full rate). Reebok fleece for 60% off! Levi’s for $ 26… hey just can’t beat it. As far as food goes, the lone deli is crazy expensive and the food isn’t very good… but of the slim pickin’s go get the philly cheese steak sandwich, its the least bad of the lot. Oh but the onion rings are excellent.
