This place is sub-par compared to the other locations in the Bay Area. Ive eaten at the Concord, Benicia, Walnut Creek & Pleasant Hill locations; all of the mentioned locations are all solid lunch time choices and are always busy. I feel like they typically have a good quality control system in the organization but the Tracy location was not good.

How does a BBQ place run out of ribs and hot links?! First and last time I come here. I would rather drive to Walnut Creek for BBQ. I hope the owner steps it up. All the advertising says they have beer but stopped selling it a few months ago. This Kinder’s gives the others a bad name.

We have gone before and had good sandwiches, meats, salads, etc, but we came in lask week and they basically refused my business because I was using a Kinders’ gift card. We had used a gift card here before about a month prior to this no problem. NOSALE! I have also heard this location may be going out of business — wonder why with this kind of service…

They run out of meat. Meat! After it happened once, I gave it another shot and then it happened AGAIN. I mentioned this on facebook and did not even get an apology; only an excuse about it being holiday season. The first time it happened was NOT during the holiday season, by the way.

Apparently this is a franchise. Which means higher prices, less products, smaller drinks/portions, and apparently cold sandwiches. I have my qualms about kinders in general, typically their use of microwaves to dole out«fresh food». But when franchises take over you end up with more problems for more money. Unfortunate. Hell, they don’t even use kinders labeled cups. Some what of a staple of the brand. Not that it really matters or anything, id take a proper sized cup over a properly labeled cup any day. But unfortunately you get neither here. Ill stick to deli meats from now on. $ 12 for a small sandwich and a small drink marketed as a medium is just too much.

No military discount but definitely friendly and down to earth staff. Food was good not great but the bbq sauce was very nice. Gave a 5 for the staff id give a 4.5 to the food.

Very good food, sweet potatoes aren’t the same as other locations but this is a family owned location.

Eh — I wouldn’t come back. $ 38 for 3 sandwiches and drinks. Costco is next door and you can get lunch for $ 1.50 — shoulda done that. Employees were busy talking — and any place that uses a microwave should be avoided. Sandwiches were just ok. For $ 38 I want better than just ok. Tortellini salad was different and good — that is about it.

After being stuck in traffic for three hours my husband and I decided to stop and have dinner in Tracey. I always enjoyed the Kinders in Concord so we decided to stop in this store … Not a great decision on our part. They where out of avocado for the chicken sandwich and out of French Fries. I think there was 4 thin slices of meat on our sandwich and the beans where cold! I would not recommend this store to anyone …

2:00pm on a Thursday, craving BBQ, figured I give the Tracy location a try. Bad move, although customer was really good, the lady at the counter was more then nice and I could see she was trying her best, furthermore the food was not what I hoped for, they were just about out of ribs? What? In the middle of the day yes. The side choices that they had were bare minimum, so I settled for what they had. The ribs that i did receive were dry and the sides tasted as if they had been sitting up for a while. Maybe it was an off day, but I spent 23 bucks on two meals and I felt like I just got robbed. I won’t be back to this location.

Had the marinated tri-tip meal with baked beans and pasta salad. Just ok for me. The tri-tip was quite salty. I am not a fan. For the price you pay, I’d expect more bang for your buck. There are many other options in the area. But I’d be willing to give them another shot. Maybe it was an off day.

Awesome bbq! I got the 3 meat plate and chose the chicken(breast/wing), ball tip, and ribs. It comes with two sides and a drink for ~14.00 which I couldn’t finish, and I arrived hungry. Next time I’ll get the 2-piece plate. All three meats were smoked to perfection with an excellent dry rub yumm! I chose potato salad and beans. The sides were okay which made this a 4 of 5 stars. All in all, if I want great bbq in fremont, I’ll come to kinders.

As far as BBQ goes — it’s ok. As far as Sandwiches go — again, ok. Yes sure, they’re fine for a quick fix but it’s not the sort of place I get excited to come, more of a last minute ”I’m hungry and can’t be bothered so find anywhere else” kind of place. The staff are friendly and the food is prepared quickly yet on each visit there’s not been really anything memorable about the food. I do like the large selection of sauces and that it’s never too busy however prices are a little high given the quality and overall ambiance of the place. I’m sure that won’t stop me from coming back though, *TIP* Often have gift cards available in Costco.

I use to like this place, but it’s quite price for a sandwich shop so I do not venture here very often. Hubby & I stopped in before making a Costco run & ordered 2 of their famous Ball tip sandwiches, 2 small sides(garlic fries & cold slaw) and 2 small drinks, the grand total was $ 28.00– ouch… there were 3 tables with couples all waiting for sandwiches. The rest of the tables were dirty & only one napkin dispenser in the entire eatery had one side filled with napkins. In defense of the two girls at the counter the phone was ringing with take out orders non stop, but the wait for or meal was 35 minutes which I found unacceptable. A gentleman who came alone a few minutes after us and had waited about 15 minutes was called back to the counter & told they had run out of the meat for his sandwich & he’d have to wait an additional 30 minutes — he asked for a refund and left. The lack of proper staffing & the unkempt condition of the dining room along with the sit down restaurant price would keep me from going back any time soon… oh the food… as for the food– the portion s were generous, the fries were tasty– no vampires approached for the rest of the day(lol) and the sandwiches were good, but I really don’t think this was a $ 28.00 meal.

The only thing you really need to know about Kinder’s is they make a darn fine steak sandwich. It’s perfectly cooked rib-eye that is big enough to share. I usually split one with my Mom. Add a bag of chips or a side and you will be set. Better yet, keep it all for you.

This place came highly recommended from some friends of mine who lived in the bay area. While down on a bid out of town i decided to stop, excited to try this«awesome bbq». The flavors were there i suppose, but the execution of the meal was quite poor. The beans were dry and chalky like they were leftovers that had been microwaved too long. But being microwaved, they were the only thing that was hot. I ordered a grilled cheese for my 3 year old son, and it was cold. The concept of 4 slices of cheese in your grilled cheese is awesome, but this sandwich is cold. none of the cheese melted. I asked my wife, why didnt they at least microwave it with the beans. The bbq beef was good, but cold. the cheese they stuffed in never melted. The fries were long and golden, but once again cold. The strange thing was they took over 15 minutes to «cook» our food. IMHO if you are going to pay over 35 $ for a lunch, it better damn well be hot when it comes out. The chillis or the texas roadhous down the street im sure would have served us hot food, and we all could have eaten for less than this place. overpriced and under-executed thumbs down.

Pretty darn good and my first actual in-person exposure to the BBQ place that has lips smacking and towelettes wiping all over the Bay(some valley locations too). It was the suggestion of the BIL to come here for some of their award-winning grub while my darling Sis compromised(it wasn’t her idea, let’s just leave it at that). Ordered at the counter, lovely counter clerk lady and waited for them to put together our feast. I decided on the pulled pork sandwich(homemade BBQ sauce and mayo). It was good but not award-winning great as some signs boasted. The BBQ sauce to me was like candy and lacked the kick I was expecting but the pulled pork was good enough. To accompany it, I opted for a small Tortellini & Bacon Salad. That was really good because it included their cured bacon so I think that made up for it. I learned something valuable when sitting with my BIL waiting for the food. Never ask him if he likes other foods like Indian food(it was a suggestion on my Unilocal iPhone app) because he’ll say…“No, I don’t like those weird foods like Pork Ta*nt”. Needless to say I laughed like something was wrong with me and I am sure everyone in the restaurant was thinking there was!

We used to frequent the Kinder’s in Martinez when we lived there. As a visitor to Tracy(for a day) from Utah, I happened upon Kinders when I Unilocaled places to eat from where I was there working for the day. I was ecstatic! I left with a Ball Tip sandwich special(it was just 3pm and they are much cheaper than normal after 3pm) and a jar of mild(yes, I’m a wimp) house BBQ sauce. Oh, the heaven. The sandwich is huge and I was intending to offer one of the guys I was working with half of it, however, as it was, I was scabby donkey hungry and ate the whole thing! Oh the heaven… again…

My husband was craving a hearty sandwich so we thought we would give this place a try. He got the Ball Tip Sandwich with sweet potato fries and I got the BBQ Chicken Salad. The prices are a little higher than average, we paid about $ 23.00 after drinks and taxes. The food was good, but unfortunately it wasn’t memorable. What was memorable was the poor service. The girl who took out order was really kind, however the girl who was making the meals was rather unpleasant. When we got our meal, I wanted to split my salad and save half for later. When my husband went to the counter and asked the girl for a bowl she looked annoyed and handed him a tiny cup for side dishes. He clarified that he would need another salad bowl, so she got him a salad bowl with no lid. Since we planned on taking half to go, my husband asked for a lid as well. She got the lid but her body language and facial expression showed her annoyance. I’m sorry it’s that much trouble for us to ask for a to-go bowl. The dining room was clean and had a nice relaxed ambience. The soda fountain only had ½ of the soda selections it should have. Looks like maybe one side was broken? We will probably come back if we’re craving some BBQ sandwiches, but not our favorite BBQ spot.
