Jim Booth Swim School

If I would describe Jim booth Swim School in one word it would be, «embarrassing». As a former D1 athlete from UCSB who swam competitively. I can honestly say that the teaching strategies and techniques they demonstrated were appalling. Instructors were trained to be very forceful and demanding towards the children. Instructors MUST use the school’s odd terminology («airplane arms» for freestyle!?) The swim class is very repetitive and it did not allow children to naturally enjoy being in the water. Most of the teachers didn’t know how to swim correctly themselves! How can teachers instruct students when they don’t know the proper technique? Also, founder and owner Jim Booth is very disrespectful and demanding towards staff. For example, being in the water for up to 6 hours with no break?! Yelled at you if you were not instructing the class his way (forceful, yelling).
Parents, please go to a different swim school that teaches children how to swim correctly while having an enjoyable time! Hope this is helpful!

Nicole is awesome — really good at keeping the kids attention and she’s patient too. You can tell she had been teaching for a while. My son cried the first class and now he is keeping his head under water and doing the range of motion. So happy we came here! Thanks Nicole!

My daughter had Robert as her swimming instructor two years ago and she did great with him. My son is now in the parent-​baby class with Miss Lindsay and she is great as well. She has a lot of patience for both my little ones. Highly recommended :)

Our children love going to swimming lessons with Ms. Jenna and Ms. Sierra. They’re so good my husband and I joined. The lessons are excellent, we learn and have fun.

My daughter Dylan loves her swimming lessons. The instructors are really nice and good with the little ones. The only downside to this school is you have to get gym membership from In Shape before you can join the class

Caleb (8) and Chayce (3) enjoy their teacher Ms. Jena and Ms. Sierra. They make swim lessons fun. Both my sons started with no swimming experience and now Caleb is learning breaststroke and butterfly while Chayce does the side breath (freestyle) and back stroke. The boys’ has so much progress and has a lot of confidence in the water, Thank’s to the patience and professional attitude of their lovely swimming instructors. We love Jim Booth Swimming School and we’re positive that you’ll love them too!

We had our first class today with our 6 month old baby. The instructor was professional and playful and knew how to work in play between lessons, in order to make baby comfortable. The teacher was great at making me comfortable too! We look forward to taking more classes and getting to know the program better. Great first impression!

We have had a great experience with the teachers at the Tracy location. Our 4 year old daughter loves her swim lessons and is learning quickly. This is our second season of classes. April and Jenna have been wonderful! Love the confidence and skills they have taught my daughter. I highly recommend this swim school and their talented, friendly teachers.
