I had the lobster deal with a very very tasty Caesar salad, I would recommend making reservations. This place is packed!!!

I stopped out at the recently opened Sunset Steakhouse at Fortune Bay on Lake Vermilion over Labor Day weekend. I’ve been spending time on Lake Vermilion since I was a baby, and I can tell you there are very limited «fine dining» options. Sure, there are gerat dive bars and diners — but it’s tough to find a place up here that you dress up for and get a really great meal.
The Sunset Steakhouse has definitely filled this void. It’s at the Fortune bay Casino and Resort, which is a really nice property. The Sunset is rather small, so make reservations! I saw a line of people waiting for a table when we left around 7:30. Attire I would say is upscale casual — you don’t want to walk in here in your beach cover up or boat clothes. This is a place that you take a shower and change into a clean outfit for. I wore jeans, which was fine, but definitely step up your attire from typical cabin wear. I defintiely would not feel overdressed wearing khakis or a casual dress in here.
Rick the bartender is awesome. He can mix a mean drink — anything you want, which can also be tough to find up here. Some bars might look at your crazy if you ordered a dirty martini on the Range, but Rick just nods and whips it right up. Great wine seleciton too.
On to the food — when I was there we had a few apps (baked feta, shrimp cocktail, and bruschetta) and steaks. Everything was top notch. The shrimp in the cocktail were huge and tasted so fresh. The steaks were outstanding. The baked feta was also a treat. After we finished, Rick brough us over a round of chocolate martinis, and at that point, I probably could have died a happy woman. Highly recommend this spot — would be fantastic for a special occasion or if you’re just looking for a classy night out with amazing food.
