Bread is awesome! Rye and wheat are my favorite. I pick up a loaf every week for my husband and I. It is always best lightly toasted just like it came out of the oven. Bakery items are always stellar! My favorite is the molasses cookie. Yummy. That cookie can turn a bad day good! Something I will Certainly miss about Towanda, PA!

Pizza is awful. Just go to little Caesars and pay the 5 $ there. It’s only in Thursdays, but there are so many little pebble like bread crumbs on the bottom of the pizza. Feels like sand. And the cheese is overwhelming. Fins a balance between the sauce and cheese.

You just have to love this place. Great food and friendly service. It’s even clean inside, and that’s something that’s been lacking in every other place I’ve ate at in Towanda. For what it is, and that’s a deli and bakery, it’s excellent. After debating on menu items, because well it all looks good, I went with the Bleu Waldorf and the stuffed pepper soup. The soup was today’s soup of the day and the sandwich apparently won the 2014 sandwich madness, whatever that is. The soup was really good. Just enough blend of rice and peppers, with some stewed tomatoes and perfect amounts of spices. The flavor was excellent. The sandwich too was very good. A Bleu Waldorf consists of chicken salad, candied walnuts, Bleu cheese, Apple butter, and Lettuce. I was surprised when I picked it up and it was green, not white like most chicken salad. The green came from the mustard they added and really did bring out nice flavor. The chicken was tender and the walnuts added a sweet surprise every now and then that I appreciated. This was a really well done, well thought out blend of flavors that brightened my day. My only disappointment was the massive amount of sweet treats from the bakery. I’m diabetic, so I can’t have any of it, and all it did was tease me. I asked if there was a sugar free option available and was let down by the response of no. I was however told I could call ahead and they can make a sugar free coconut custard pie. Why not offer that by the slice for the customers that can’t have the other treats? Alas, I’m not going to deduct from my rating for this. It’s not their fault I can’t have sugar after all.

So, a flying cow walks into a bar… We needed a new lunch spot in Towanda and decided to try the Flying Cow. So glad that we did. It’s a small building with ample nearby parking just off the river. Walking in, the area is open and friendly and clean. The staff greeting was almost immediate, directing us to our dining options as we gazed ar rhe counter full of fresh baked goods. I opted for corned beef and swiss on rye, with a bowl of cheesebuger soup. The food arrived quickly, which is excellent for someone on their lunch break. The soup beckoned on this cold Pennsylvania day and did not dissapoint, creamy and filling with plenty of chunky ingredients. On to the sandwich. The rye was toasted and melted cheese oozed out over the helping of tasty corned beef. A fine compliment to the soup, it made the meal filling while leaving enough room for dessert. Finishing with fresh apple pie, I can only hope for all my dining experiences to be so pleasant. So, to sum, a fine meal in a clean establishment, with friendly service and reasonable prices. I’ll be back! Returned to the scene of the crime the next morning. The service was a lttle slow as they are short staff in the morning, but the food quality is still top notch. Give yourself a little extra time and enjoy a nice breakfast sandwich!
