That was disgusting, chicken fingers from frozen bag, nasty cheese that seemed more like velveta and omelette posing as huevos rancheros

Love this place!!! Fresh food. The staff is outstanding. You may have to wait to sit but well worth it. Try their homemade muffins.

Red Barn is a classic Montville breakfast institution. They have a nice variety of classic options on the menu ranging from your typical omelettes and pancakes to breakfast burrito and sandwiches. All the food is yummy and the portions are generous so bring your appetite. I split my french toast special, and I still had plenty of food to fill me up. The french toast is the perfect balance of moist, light, and fluffy. It was covered in strawberries, blueberries, and bananas. Delicious. I came here a bunch growing up, and everything was good… or at least that’s how I remember it. Nothing has changed. The food is still on point and the service is friendly. The atmosphere is cozy and rustic. If you’re in town, come here for breakfast, brunch or whatever you want to call it. Bön Appetit.

Horrible service. No one even acknowledged me when I arrived. I had to ask the servers if I could sit at the empty table. Then I had to ask if someone could remove the stuff on the table. Even while I sat there no server assisted me with any service. Awful experience. I ended up leaving after having no one provide service.

Greeezy Spoon with sticky tables, what more do I have to say. I received a gift certificate from a relative and gladly gave the rest of it away after trying it again. Should have trusted my past judgment had to go for an oil change after breakfast.

Have only been for breakfast, very good food! Impressive list of specials. Only downside is it can get very busy so don’t be surprised if you have to wait a little bit. But our waitress handled the rush very well

Went to the red barn for breakfast with my 2 preteen daughters. One had pancakes and the other French toast. I had an omelette. Waitress was great and the food was excellent. Coffee was also good and I never had to look around for a fill up. Atmosphere is great for breakfast. What more Could you want for a local place!

Stopped on a Sunday at 11 am, got the last open table. Rustic looking interior, picnic-table-like setup, crowd made up mostly of locals, mix of affluent familes and couples. Family-owned. Waitresses hustle. Service very good. Had a nice offering of breakfast specials… not the stuff you see every day at a diner. We will be back.

Very good food for an AMAZING value. The specials are very good and so is the normal menu. I would suggest the country omlet.

Best breakfast & lunch spot around. Anything you order is fresh and delicious and you will leave satisfied. They specialize in breakfast but the sandwiches & soup are very good too. The only real problem you will ever have is that you may have to wait a few minutes on Sunday’s for a table. It’s a shame that they close at 2:30 and aren’t open for dinner.

We’ve been going to the barn since 1976. Everything is as good as you could get in your own home. Everything is exceptionally fresh and always prepared to order. The burgers are to die for and the daily specials are delish! The only bad thing is that they are not open for dinner! Try the Red Barn, you’ll be glad you did!

Been coming to the red barn for at least 20 years. It’s a Montville/towaco staple. You must grab breakfast here if you are in the area. The best damn sausage there is! Pancakes are golden, fluffy and buttery. Everyone is sweet and friendly. The coffee was also so much better than I anticipated! Strong and bold flavor. Taylor ham was relish!

Pretty standard food. It’s a diner so don’t expect 5 star dining breakfasts are decent. Burgers not bad. I haven’t eaten there in a while cause the food just doesn’t sit well on my stomach. Plus, they’re kind of expensive. If I want diner style food I choose Paul’s on 46.

The place has a really cozy and home-y feel to it. You walk inside and feel as if you’re down by the lake or down south. Tables are big with lots of condiments already on them. Staff is very friendly. I really would’ve loved this place if it hadn’t been for the food(the most important part). I had Thick French toast with bananas and strawberries with two eggs over medium and bacon. The French toast had way too much cinnamon and bacon was too salty and thin. The strawberries were pretty old and mushy. Coffee was terrible. Took two sips only. Tasted old and weak and sort of sour also. Bf had a special, gravy and biscuits with eggs. Gravy was good but that’s all. Also he had OJ which is served in what looks like a kiddie cup bc of the size. Whole meal was about 37 bucks. We left disappointed. Also our waitress kept forgetting about us. Everyone else seemed to be tended to by their waitresses but ours had a friend at the restaurant come by and she just ignored us. Maybe we’ll try again. Probably not.

This is a unique cozy restaurant situated in the middle of Montville that you want to love upon walking in. They do some things very well in providing a relaxing environment, excellent coffee, and offer home baked pies which are 5 stars all around. I was a little disappointed in the food, my hash browns were cold and dry and the burrito was well constructed but it tasted to cheesy and mushy on the inside. The coffee alone is a reason I’ll return and I’ll give the food a second shot.

The Red Barn has a cozy, homey atmosphere. It is in a barn that is over 100 years old. The waitresses an owners make you feel like they’ve known everybody who comes in for years. The food is comfort food. A great place!

Nice place for breakfast/brunch. Had a few errands in a neighboring town and came here with my Mom. We both ordered breakfast specials. Mine came with banana bread french toast, which was terrific. My last visit there we had peach cobbler, which was also great. Will be back.

The Red Barn is a Towaco/Montville institution. It has been there for years upon years. The food is pretty good. The breakfasts are large and tasty. The coffee is always very good but they are a little slow refilling the cup. The place is a little threadbare and the hard picnic bench seating gets old fast. Both plates we were served have large and jagged chips along the edges. Really, replacing the dishes as they wear is a cost of doing business in the food service business. Just do it. No customer wants to be served on food on a broken plate. We were there for lunch today. I had the veggie burger and I asked if they could make the Mexican Burger(Hot peppers and pepper jack cheese) using the veggie burger instead of the beef burger. No Problem and they seemed glad to do it. The veggie burger was very tasty. Probably came frozen but it was a good selection served on a whole wheat and oat bun with tasty fries. Missus had the regular veggie burger and said she enjoyed it. Hers was also served on the whole wheat bun. There was an issue with one of the dishes and the waitress replaced the meal and the we were not charged for either meal. Very standup on their part and much appreciated. All in all we really enjoy the Red Barn. We don’t get there often as it is not close to where we live but when the opportunity arises we enjoy a meal there. With a little attention to details the Red Barn could really rise above.

Definitely a fan of Red Barn for their food and service. It’s are consistently good, they a well rounded menu that’ll please even the pickest eaters, there’s always freshed baked goods(Um, toasted banana bread with butter ~ amazing!) and they usually have a good variety of specials. My issue would be cleanliness. To be fair, the dinnerware, etc is always clean, but the restaurant itself is old, dusty and there’s water staining on celing tiles. I’ve also sat next to more than one round of leaks, and more than one’s too many for me… I feel like there’s no good excuse for not resolving these issues, and it’s really just not acceptable to have it go for this long without being taken care of. Landlord should take care of leaks, ceiling tiles are cheap and easy to change out and a cleaning crew is a given, IMHO
