This place has the potential to be great, the setting rustic log cabin barn feel, up on a hill. Then there is the reality, it looks worn out dirty Dingy. The food portions large kinda like a dinner serves a bit greasy. The service well now that’s were it gets interesting, our waitress looked like she had been doing this a bit too long n wasn’t happy about it. We were seating in this«other«room next to the main dinning area. It was cold looking and feeling, the décor was like an old basement you try to fix up. I am sure back in its hay day it was great but frankly nothing is great anymore. Sadly I won’t be returning.

Ok for a quick bite but quality is not that great. Items are a bit greasy. Plenty of parking though.

This is a really interesting place with a cool outdoor space that offers horseshoes and volleyball. The food was average, but living in the area it is a quick go-to place for lunch or dinner. I haven’t attended an event here, but the space looks nice.

I attended a fundraiser here and I thought the food was terrible. The room was nice the service was ok but I personally wouldn’t book a event here after tasting the food

Sick to my stomach after eating here a few weeks ago — as in could not move laying on bathroom floor then vomiting. Be careful. Had a burger. One bite of Cole slaw which was warm — bad sign. Thought I was ok — nope !! Two others I was with had burgers — were fine. But they didn’t taste Coke slaw. BEWARNED!

My wife was in the mood for union soup, so I did a search on Unilocal to come across this place. It was decent. I had the grill chicken sandwich, which was very tasty. You could taste the grill flavor immediately. Her soup was good as well. The biggest outlier for us was the décor. It was old looking and needs an updating bad!

Was here for an event, room was spacious, held over 200 people comfortably. Room décor rusty but classy, really enjoyed how nice the room looked. Food was a buffet style and very tasty, good variety. I’m looking forward to another event here.

Looks great. The outdoor Restuarant is much better than inside. The food is average and the service above average.

I really enjoy this place, the food, the service and the outdoor bar and restaurant is great, I would give it 4 stars but I wish they would not allow smoking, I can’t enjoy my meal with cigarette smoke all around me.

Over Priced, poor service, and mediocre food… that pretty much sums up Barnyard and Carriage House. I started going to Barnyard about a year ago and played volleyball there almost every weekend. We would always get a few pitchers of beer and some appetizers(even though they were expensive) because we were using the courts and realized they are there to make money. At that point the food was decent enough that I would eat there. However, we came back this summer and things have really gone downhill. On weekends, they have ONE bartender in the back to cover all food and drink orders. As a result, you will wait for a good 10 – 15 minutes just to get their attention and another 5 just to get your drink. It is obnoxious, but we generally aren’t in a hurry, so we lived with it. Their food is way overpriced especially for«pub fare» and there is not a single thing that is covered in grease– even the chicken salads. It wasn’t this way before. Honestly, management needs to get their act together before I will ever go back. They could really have somewhere that is fun and a great place to hang out, but the owner is too focused on squeezing money out of every transaction. We have been going there on a regular basis to play and always buy something, but apparently it hasn’t been«enough», so he told the bartenders to make us buy their disgusting $ 1.50 water bottles instead of providing us with a pitcher of tap water. Its amazing how short sighted people can be… now we will be finding a new place to play and the $ 100+ he used to make off of our group each weekend will now be $ 0.

Service is a total joke. The staff could care less how long it takes you to be seated next to the rude cigar smoking an beer drinking dining outside. I would tell you to go elsewhere to spend your money to eat. If you have thirty min to wait for your change when you pay your bill or not get a refill during your meal because they do not know what they are doing then you should go there.

Rating is for a catered event only Recently attended a catered party in the top floor and it was a very clean and nice venue and the food was good. The party owner did most of the work to make it a great party but they had a great blank slate. There is an elevator for handicap access and bathrooms that are accessible on the same floor Wait staff was friendly and professional

Much improved. I used to work near The Barnyard and tried to avoid eating there. They have expanded the seating area and the menu. The food is much better now also. Don’t be mislead, the food is good diner quality or a small step above. The staff is very pleasant.

I’m new to the area and found this location in the local newspaper. It’s located in an area that you truly would never think a restaurant would be which made it even more interesting to try. The atmosphere is family friendly and great for groups as well as date dining. It’s a pub style atmosphere with a bit of a cozy log cabin feel. Separate bar area from the dining room. They also have a catering hall for parties and functions. I started my meal off with the Coconut Shrimp with orange marmalade which was absolutely delicious! A definite highlight to my dinner. The portion was 8 large shrimps. As my entrée I had the Sliced New York Strip Steak over garlic toast served with fries and mixed vegetables that consisted of carrots, zucchini and string beans. Adequate portion size and cooked to my liking. Delicious. My guest had the meat loaf which was all meat loaf. No fillers of bread and made with brown gravy. Very tasty. My other guest had the zucchini sticks which were a great starter and large portion size. Chicken Francese which was made with too much lemon and not enough butter. It was with so much lemon that it made you pucker. Not a choice of ours at all. Service was pretty bad. Long waits and things were delivered to the wrong person several times. Friendly but long waits in between the meal and at the initial sit down. Other than the service and Chicken Francese, I would definitely recommend and return. Highly recommend the Coconut Shrimp.

The barnyard is a no-frills eatery in Totowa. It’s in desperate need of modernization, coming straight to you from the 1970s in all of its glorious décor. The food is okay, large portion size makes up for the average taste. I had a bacon cheeseburger, medium well, and though it was cooked just right it was dripping in An excessive amount of grease(then again it was a bacon cheeseburger). It was not bad, but not great either. The waitstaff is kind and attentive; and their beer selection is relatively extensive. The saving grace of this restaurant is the volleyball court and outdoor patio in the back, which is great on a cool summer evening. Overall, the barnyard is an okay place if you’re not a picky eater and do not care about ambience. However, I definitely would not bring a date there.

We held my daughters Sweet 16/Confirmation in the Carriage Room and we were very pleased with everything. Our contact person throughout the entire process was Anna(with assists from Shannon when she wasn’t available). They answered all of my questions quickly which really helped ease the nerves of a stressed out party planning Mom! They allowed us into the room early to set up because we were the only party in there that day which was very appreciated. I admit that after reading the reviews(after I signed the contract) I was PETRIFIED that the food would be subpar but I am thrilled to report that everything was excellent. I even had a few guests comment that they wanted to come back to check out the restaurant.

One start just for scenery. Waited 15 mnts to be sited, when the place was practically empty. Then waited 10 more mnts for the waitress to hand us the menus & to clean the table. We ended asking her to clean it!!! Then the appetizers & main course arrived at the same time. The buffalo wings were nasty and to top it off, we asked to bring them with bone and got them boneless. Our steak was supposed to be medium well!!! it was well cook, greasy, the baked potato was hard & the veggies wasn’t cooked. No FLAVOR. We couldn’t eat it so. We Left a $ 50 bill & walked out. First & last!!! wORSt experience ever.

Well we liked this place. The last time I was here was about 18 years ago. I don’t have a problem with the décor. It’s rustic… log cabin(ish). I’m not sure why some people say this place needs a renovation. It was clean, if a little dark due to the dark wood. The service(Debbie) was very good too… and it was busy at 6pm. I had a burger which came out perfectly medium rare… on a large English muffin… with sweet potato fries. Excellent. My wife was trying to be good and had flounder,(also with sweet potato fries) which she enjoyed very much. I had a Stella Artois cider, which I’d never had before. I really enjoyed this and am going to stop by the liquor store to see if I can find some to bring home. I did use a GroupOn with no problem. I then got a 20% discount card for our next visit so that was a nice little bonus. I WILL be using it too.

Food was amazing! The ribs were super and melted right off the bone-chicken dish was great! The ambiance was fantastic, adding the table we sat at was adjacent to the fireplace made the entire experience one to repeat! Looking forward to the summer!
