2 enchiladas for me, and a grilled cheese sandwich for my g/f were OK. I didn’t appreciate adding a tip to our bill even if we were a separate check out of 2 other couples(6 at the table) though I should add that the service was great. I think that the higher ratings are mostly due to the location and the great atmosphere. And the road won’t entice me us to return. I see that the taxes I pay the state don’t improve the roads, and that we’re on a motorcycle made no difference. I suggest that someone from here put some much needed pressure on the powers that be to improve the likelihood that you’ll get return traffic!!!

The reason this restaurant deserves a 1 in my book, is because they charged an $ 8 tip to my credit card, when I only tipped $ 3(on a $ 13 tab). CapitalOne alerted me about the«very generous tip,» so I called the restaurant. The person who answered gave me the name(Mark) and number of the manager, but he did not pick up or call back. CapitalOne erased the charge, so we’re all good on my end, but these jerks still got an extra $ 5, because CapitalOne said it’d cost more money to try to fight them, than to just credit me the $ 5. I would be willing to bet that this restaurant is well aware of that, and that this is not an isolated incident. If the restaurant had answered, or appeared to care even a little bit about the wrongful charge, they probably would have gotten a 3 star rating.

I actually am a local resident and take visitors here to see the area. The restaurant definitely has all the sights and sounds for a tourist visit. The food has been fair. Recently in January I took a friend and I had heard that the Killer Chili was really good. Well, I love chili but not when it burns my mouth from the first bite. It was doused with chili powder or jalapenos. Don’t know but if you are sensitive to hot spices do not order it. I wish they had told me how hot it was and maybe offered a regular chili like my mom used to make.

Its a destination place. We stopped in early on a Saturday morning. Wasn’t crowded. My husband really like his breakfast. I ordered a burger. I couldn’t find anything appealing on the menu. My burger was boring. The fries were just fries. Server was very accommodating. I would try a different place if we ever go back out that way.

Ate here 2 weeks ago, headed there again today from Tonopah AZ. Excellent bacon avocado cheeseburger, crispy fries, soft on the inside, yum! Nice atmosphere, definitely worth the bumpy ride on your way to Apache Lake or Roosevelt Lake. Will check-in again after today’s lunch.

This was a cool place to visit, though a tourist trap. The theme was cute and the shops were interesting. They did sell some authentic pieces from local tribes which was great, but they also had a good deal of made in China crap that I stay clear. The drive up was beautiful, fun, scary, and frustrating. The route is literally on the side of a mountain with narrow and winding roads, but great views of a canyon and lake.

They microwaved their breadbowl chili. Which results in inedible rubbery bread. Other than that the chili was fine. Note they don’t have bud on draft despite the sign.

Friendly people and great chili. They said it was spicy but I could taste it at all. Was hoping it would have been spicier but it was still very delicious!

This restaurant is located in Tortilla Flat. The walls are lined with dollar bills from all over the country covered with signatures and other graffiti. The wait staff was great and the food came out fast. What they do in speed lacks in quality — the food was only OK.

This place is cool, great drive/ride, the road can use a little repair, but it is what it is. My only complaint would be that the burgers only come one temp, «well done». I like a med-rare. so i asked them to just simply cook it how they normally cook it, just 1 min less on each side. they can’t seem to get it. but the burger is great regardless and the service is spot on.

A little late in posting, but I kinda forgot about it. While waiting for our Dolly Steamboat Cruise, we decided to stop in for a quick bite. I’d wanted to try the fish tacos, but they weren’t able to serve them without cilantro… so scratch that. Ordered the shrimp instead and it was ok. It was just fried frozen shrimp. I didn’t care for the fries. The service was good and the atmosphere was kinda fun/quirky but next time maybe I’ll just pack a lunch.

On our daytrip excursion on the Apache Trail, we stopped into the saloon for a great lunch of a cowboy cheeseburger with fries — surprisingly good and fresh food for a town that has a population of 6! Great atmosphere, good service and great food… a winning combination! Make sure you don’t forget to enjoy some prickly pear gelato next door too… yummy!

Very disappointed and somewhat disgusted with our meals. Not a good sign when your burger comes out in 4 minutes. Absolutely no flavor and a dog food like texture. He either knew we were coming and what we would order so it was ready for us or buys the already cooked beef patties. I had been here before and had the supposed world famous chili., wasn’t impressed. During our meal I look up and see a head of a Havelina mounted on the wall right over our table that was caked with dust and cobwebs. The place really needs a serious dusting and cleaning. Just because you have old stuff doesn’t give you the excuse to be so filthy especially in an eating establishment. I recommend popping your head in the door for a look see but I will never eat there again. i really couldn’t finish my food. I hear the Town is for sale

Great food, great service and wonderful staff. Tucked away in the Tonto National Forest, with a scenic view of the mountains this rustic restaurant isn’t afraid to be quirky while maintaining a professional demeanor. We go boating at Canyon a Lake and make it a point to visit Carlos and the crew every time we are up. Fun décor coupled with good people make the experience enjoyable every time! Try the shrimp tacos or chili if you are first timer. After lunch/dinner don’t miss out on the awesome homemade ice cream at the parlor two shops down. You won’t be disappointed.

A touristy little joint with good food and a crazy fun atmosphere including dollar wallpaper, saddle bar stools and a saucy bartender. The only downside is the distance from town. Try the snake venom beer and anything Mexican for a great dining experience. Don’t forget to go next door and try the prickly pear gellato.

Just when you think there is nothing more than an incredible view of the Superstition Mountains with a glistening lake in the center — 2 miles down there’s an old town look called the Tortilla Flat where you can see coupled shops with a small historical museum in the corner. This is a good thing to see — stop by the restaurant — the entire wallpaper inside is made up of dollar bills — whoa! Next thing to see — historical district of Lost Dutchman state park and even hike that trail!

Did not know what to expect in a restaurant in the middle of nowhere. The sign said to wait to be seated but there was no host to be found. We then just sat at the bar with real saddles for seats which I thought was pretty cool. Had the Wisconsin Cheddar Soup and the Killer Chili Dawg for a light lunch while hubby gets a burger. The food was good and quantity quite filling. If you came to this little place called Tortilla Flat to be charmed, don’t get your hopes up. Service here was fair. We were served fast and staff was friendly enough but charmless. «You liked it? Good. Here(the check)!» LMAO

Halfway along the Apache Trail is a little stop off called Tortilla Flat. For many, this is the place to turn back to Phoenix because the road after is smaller and unpaved. But if you’re committed to taking the entire trail, this is a must stop for a bathroom break. I also heard a little somethin’ somethin’ about some Prickly Pear Gelato so yeah, I had to add that to my list of to do’s. You can’t miss it, it’s right along the trail and it’s the first form of civilization you come across. Tortilla Flat is an authentic remnant of an old west town, nestled in the midst of the Tonto National Forest, in the Superstition Mountain Range. Tortilla Flat started out as a stagecoach stop in 1904. Tortilla Flat is presumed to be Arizona’s smallest official«community» having a U.S. Post Office and voter’s precinct. The town has a population of 6. Originally a camping ground for the prospectors who searched for gold in the Superstition Mountains in the mid-to-late 19th century, Tortilla Flat was later a freight camp for the construction of Theodore Roosevelt Dam. The name«Tortilla Flat» originated from the cowboys who used to drive cattle from Globe to Phoenix. While in Phoenix, rancher Mr. Cline and his fellow cowboys celebrated their sale, and, having a little too much to drink, forgot to get supplies while they were in town. They ended up with only flour to make tortillas when they camped at the flat and were stranded. Lucky for me, they now have Prickly Pear Cactus Gelato! It’s VERY sweet, especially at 10 a.m., but I just had to have it! If I would of had more time, I wish I could have stopped off at the restaurant for a meal. If you’re looking for more than a fix for your sweet tooth(or jerky, postcards, nuts and tourist junk which can all be had at the general store), the restaurant is the only place to go actually. There’s nothing else around! And it’s the only place with a restroom. The quick view of the walls plastered with dollar bills from visitors all over the world(didn’t leave one) and the cutesy painted bathrooms are worth a peek too.

Visited the Tortilla Flat Superstition Saloon back in February 2014 while taking a day trip along the Apache Trail. Unique restaurant with saddles at the bar, tens of thousands of dollar bills stapled over the walls and caricature style washroom art. The wait staff wasn’t overly friendly or helpful and didn’t appear to enjoy his job. Ordered the brisket sandwich with fries, the brisket itself was great however the choice of bun was poor being a cheap hamburger bun. The fries were decent but previously frozen. When it came time to pay the bill it took quite a bit of work to get change as they hadn’t put a float in the cash register despite it being 11am. Would I come back? If I was in the area I likely would but I’d try something different from the menu and bring my own change.
