Super disappointed. I heard that this was the best place to go in Torrington and we have tried it THREE times and were just disappointed each time. The lo mien noodles has zero flavor, the rice is always undercooked and cold and then finally the honey chicken was just bad. A «spit it in your napkin» type of bad. One nasty bite of chicken and I’m done. Third times not a charm.

If you are a seafood lover, this is the best deal out of your pocket! I disappointed once for a lack of seafood. Ouch, it was a weekday. And, after getting a bill with weekday price, I was still happy for what I got.

Servers are completely rude and unprofessional. I wish there was an option for zero stars. I had stayed there about an hour because I was waiting to be picked up. I had three plates of food total. The server approaches my table with«Ready pay now?». Disgusting.

I have to say this is the best Chinese buffet in the area! There is a wide selection of food. The place is well decorated and lot’s of seating with nice ambient music. There is hibachi bar where they can grill any food you want. The sushi from the sushi bar is actually fantastic. The overall food is usually great, and sometimes, its not as fresh. The value is really good especially for lunch during the weekdays. The waiters and waitresses are always very friendly. Its great to go to the Torrington Super Buffett if you’re really starving and want Chinese food as well! I

This was the superior Chinese buffet at once point. They used to be good but it went down hill really quick. After a few past experiences here, I am greatly disappointed. The food quality isn’t what it used to be. It’s cheaper foods with less of what wanted and more of a «ehh i’ll pass on this.» The staff isn’t nice and just wants to pay, then get out as fast as possible. The price is 15+$ for dinner. That’s ridiculous for the chinese buffet. I walked into the bathroom with it neimg disgusting plus there was a man washing the dishes in the bathroom using hand soap. I am not the one to complain, I usually eat at hole in the wall places but that’s such a health hazard. The one by the kmart near downtown has new owners and they stepped their game up. You get better quality food, more respectful servers and not nearly as pricy. I recommend that place.

As I sit here updating my review of Torrington Super Buffet I am in such gastro-intestinal distress that it’s not even funny. The last few times I’ve been to this buffet, which has been my favorite mind you, the food has been sub par. The staff, standing there like Terminators and then later on a follow up meeting in the bathroom. This past visit last night was worse than it has been. Some of the food was cold. Some just not cooked properly and the food that was tasted off. At $ 15 a person with soda this was a waste of money and has been a waste of money for a while now. The sushi, which was once very good, has gone downhill. Stale, less than fresh. Low quality fish. Not the way to run a business. I don’t know what has changed but my opinion they really let this place go. What a shame. Will I return? I might return in the future to see if they have improved any but not likely. The location is out of my way and to consistently be disappointed and end of in the bathroom each time is enough for my to recognize that the red flags are there and I need to just not go there anymore.

Better than your average buffet. Pretty good selection of American and Chinese foods. I came at lunch on a weekday and the place was very busy, which is a good sign! I had several plates, and it was all pretty good. Great price. Didn’t see anything gross like I have at other restaurants. Can’t say my stomach was happy with all the Chinese food but I know my mind was happy! If you’re nearby, stop in. Not worth a far drive, but definently worth checking out if you’re in the area.

Buffets can be hit or miss, and this one is hitting after some some recent changes. Most noticeable of those is definitely the sushi buffet. Fresher, more choices, well stocked. The rest of the food is typical buffet fare, but is actually tasty, well cooked and kept hot when necessary — three things that are sometimes not the case in large-volume establishments. I’ve yet to try the hibachi-like grill station, but will make it a point next time we go. Staff is always very attentive and the food stays coming out fresh.

It’s the best buffet in the area so stars for that. However, the food is sub par. The crab legs taste rubbery and everything seemed greasy. The staff kept talking to my parents because they spoke the same dialect, but I thought it was a bit annoying because I just wanted to eat with my family. They charged us extra for tea and I thought it was a bit weird because they’re generally free. I think. My mother got sick from their raw oysters the next day. I took a couple stars off for that. I did tell my mom to lay off the oysters because it’s not exactly good to shovel down raw seafood. My dad enjoyed the food. He went HAM on it. I’ll come back again if my parents REALLYREALLY wants to come here. But this place wouldn’t be in my top 10 list in Torrington.

I LOVETHISBUFFET!!! Torrington Super Buffet has a vast selection of food, probably more than other buffets I have been to. A great selection of Chinese food for the indecisive and for those who want a little bit of everything. The quality of the sushi is excellent. It is comparable to the rolls that you would find at a Japanese restaurant. The sushi variety changes daily depending on who is the sushi chef for that day, but regardless it is very delicious. The hibachi is great also, as you can mix and match your own ingredients and the hibachi chef cooks it up for you hot and fresh. They also have some choices that are great for kids, like chicken nuggets, fries and macaroni and cheese. I do like that they have a good selection of seafood dishes during lunch as that is when I usually go. I have been there for dinner a few times and they have an even more variety of seafood, such as crab legs. I love everything that I have tried there. I am a sucker for fried foods(bad, bad) and I would always get some fried chicken wings, fried shrimp, and sweet and sour chicken on my plates. The fried chicken is especially delicious, very crispy and not greasy. The fried shrimp is light and buttery. I especially love it when there is tempura sushi available. Very delicious! Service is excellent every time. The servers there are very friendly and are very prompt with clearing your tables and refilling your drinks. They love chatting with customers as well, making the atmosphere of the restaurant very pleasant. Even though I reside in Middletown(for now), I definitely would go out of my way and drive all the way up to Torrington when we are in the mood for a Chinese buffet. It is sooooo worth it!

One of the better Chinese buffets in the state. Nice selection of Chinese favorites, and the food always seems to be fresh and hot.

I’d been looking for an AYCE Chinese buffet in the area for some time and finally hopped on Unilocal to see what folks thought. Super Chinese Buffet is what rose to the top as the best option. I agree, in this area, they do a great buffet. They have a VERY extensive selection of all the Chinese favorites, plus some of your standard American offerings(mozz sticks, chicken nuggets, pizza, etc). I also like that they have shrimp cocktail(on ice). They seem to be VERY conscious of making sure that the buffet is always clean and there is always someone walking around wiping or stirring or just kind of monitoring the buffet area to ensure it’s running smoothly. Drinks were refilled quickly and they were attentive to clearing dishes as needed. Highly recommend for AYCE buffet in the area.

I enjoyed a $ 6.95 weekend lunch here, and was impressed by the variety, freshness and deliciousness of the selection of Chinese food, sushi and desserts. If you love shrimp dishes, this is the place for you; there are several. The seaweed salad, as well as the Chinese green beans, are wonderfully crisp. At buffet price, the sushi is more than affordable. Even those who aren’t big fans of Chinese should do well here. My dining companion doesn’t like a lot of ethnic food, but he made a meal of the shrimp cocktail, fried seafood and chicken, among a good number of other more«American» dishes. He can’t wait to go back. Others have praised the cleanliness of the restaurant and they are correct. Staff are quick to clean up dropped food and spills. Walking in the door, I noted that the air smelled clean and had a delicious aroma – I had to force myself not to run toward the buffet tables! During the meal, our water glasses were never empty. This is key! Compared to Royal Buffet in New Milford, Torrington Super Chinese Buffet offers a wider and better food selection. However, I am accustomed to ordering alcoholic beverages(esp those fun tropical cocktails) at Chinese buffets, and this restaurant does not serve alcohol, but it is BYOB and there is a liquor store next door.

It was getting late, and my husband and I were looking for something quick to eat in the area and decided to check out the buffet. It was close to closing, and even though they seemed to be running low on some things, they were willing to make more as long as I asked. They also had crab legs, which my husband enjoyed. The buffet was clean, I saw them cleaning the whole time we were there. Food was just ok, but it is a chinese buffet… it’s pretty standard like that at any chinese buffet. At least it was hot, and there were a ton of options. I’m not a raving fan, but I’d go back if we went with company and looking for a place with a variety of items to choose from.

Torrington’s Super Buffet is the most expensive buffet in town, but also the best. It’s cheap sister, Lotus Blossom(same owners) across town is a close second… and China Star… well, they don’t even enter the equation because they just suck that badly. Sushi is plentiful and delish. No odd combos like at Lotus Blossom. The fried rice is ALWAYS good. They have this banana pudding/Nilla Wafer thing on the dessert table which is my favorite Chinese buffet staple ever. Nothing particularly stands out for me here, but the selection and variety is really good.

We come from a place where there are no buffets. I had to explain the concept to my kids, but they wouldn’t believe it. Naturally skeptical, they thought there must be some catch. I would say the catch is that there’s a lot of filler at this buffet. However, what is not filler is actually pretty great. I get that not everything at a buffet can be solid gold, but cottage cheese? Canned fruit? Is Torrington really such a wilderness that someone will stumble in and exclaim, «They have hard-boiled eggs, Clara! We’re saved!»? Anyway, we ignored Preston’s advice to come when it’s busy, to our cost. At 9:30 p.m., there were only a few diners, and thus not many sushi choices. But what there was tasted fresh and looked perfect. The eel was complimented by all, but the spicy tuna roll, while good, was not particularly spicy. Rolls were all good; kids still not quite believing that, yes, you can get up and eat more. I was pleasantly surprised by some of the Chinese items. The peppery chicken was moist and had a pleasant kick, and the green beans still tasted perfectly crisp after who-knows-how-long sitting on that table. But the broccoli in one dish was overcooked to the point of limpness, and the honeyed chicken is so glutinous as to be inedible. There was a lack of spice in everything from the lo mein to General Tso’s chicken; they were fine, but they could have been delicious. The fried dumplings were not bad, and the tiny stuffed mushrooms were tasty. It took everyone a few minutes of looking to locate the steamed rice: right where it belonged, in a rice maker at one of the middle buffet tables. D’oh. The servers are terse but very efficient. If their English seemed better, I would have quizzed them about why there is no beer. Maybe a liquor license doesn’t make sense, but wouldn’t it help the bottom line? Here’s the point in the evening where the kids learn the sad truth about all those pretty little squares of cake: Don’t bother. But, give them credit, they discovered that the puffs of fried dough are greasy goodness, and that the ice cream is in the freezer case near the sushi. No catch at all to that.
