My husband and I really need to give this place a 5 star rating, we wish we could give a higher rating. Those who complain about the prices here really need to check out other seafood restaurants prices. This place is amazing, After owning and operating our own Seafood restaurant for 25 years we are very picky. The prices are awesome. Where can you get a whole belly fried clam dinner now a days for $ 18.00.no where else but here! The portions are huge, the class of people who work here are extraordinary, so friendly and helpful. We had the pleasure of meeting Jay the owner and cook, what a down to earth guy. We have not had the pleasure of meeting his wife yet. I absolutely love the fried clams, my husband is much more diverse and has tried many different items on the menu. I will be going back very soon and will try something different as while we were eating there a couple got the lobster mac n cheese, It looked awesome and they said it was the best they have had, so on that note, I will try that next. You will Not be insatisfied with this restaurant as you can tell this couple have put their heart and soul into this place. 10 Stars to you both. Thank you for great food, prices, service and fun atmosphere.

Better when they first opened. Now the prices are high, portions smaller, you have to remind them to give you the slaw sometimes more than once that comes with your meal. I agree with most that the breading on the fish is bland… maybe this is desirable for some folks. The fact that they charge you for lemon when the prices are so high is nuts! I think they have overcrowded the outside dining area with too many tables and junk. I’ll give them another try this year though.

I have two friends who live nearby and have visited twice, once with each of them. The husband and wife owners’ formerly owned«Somethings Fishy» in Hamden before moving up to Torrington and renaming it. I personally think they should have kept the name of the original location… much more catchy(no pun intended). After my first visit in the spring, I was on the fence about whether I liked it or not, however we had gotten our food to go and therefore it was lukewarm and had gotten a bit mushy. Glad I gave them another shot because my second visit I ate there and everything was hot, fresh and delicious. This is the first year they have off season hours, otherwise seating is all outdoors in the warm weather. They allow leashed dogs as well, assuming your pooch won’t try to snag some yummy clam strips or french fries. Check them out if you ever find yourself in T town.

Awesome vibe! Great portions. Onion rings were good. Fried Shrimp –missing the wow factor-maybe they will get there once the fryers get some mileage on them. Perfectly battered and fried. Tarter sauce blah, cocktail sauce-perfect zing. Coleslaw-ok.

My husband and I tried this restaurant last night. We were told that they had the best fried seafood and outdoor dining so it fit the bill. Positive — large portions, BYOB and outdoor dining. Negative — portapotty, no smoke free zone and the food had absolutely NO flavor. I got the combination platter which was pricey. The fried fish and bay scallops were so bland that I didn’t eat them. Salt didn’t even help. The fried shrimp and clam strips were average. I opted for the onion rings instead of fries. Batter was tasteless. My husband got a fish taco and a shrimp taco and both were flavorless. This is not a place that I would recommend.

I love this place! I always get the clam strips and fries and it has always been consistently good. The breaking is perfect crisp, the clam strips are huge and sweet and the fries are awesome. You get a huge portion that includes sauce(I always get tartar) and a cole slaw. I love the clam strips so much I never want to order anything else but I have heard really great things about the other menu items. I guess I will have to venture out a little more next time because I know I am missing out on a lot of great dishes. The owners are extremely friendly too and service is quick and easy.

Stopped by for lunch today and I was very impressed! Everything on the menu looks great! I decided to go with the Cajun crawfish roll because that’s not something you see in Connecticut everyday. It was delicious! Great flavor! I will definitely be back to try some more items on the menu.

I had lunch here today. I ordered some deep fried belly clams and some breaded flounder fillet. Both were delicious! They buy only fresh seafood, never frozen! The portion was generous. The cocktail sauce and tartar sauce were both made by them and were also very good; in fact, the best I have ever had when ordering fish out. The breading was thin and light, and the oil was fresh. The fish was not greasy at all. It was evident they knew how to cook fish and took a great deal of pride in their work. The dining area inside is very nautical which adds to the enjoyment and atmosphere. The area was impeccably clean, with very ample outside dining at numerous picnic tables with umbrellas and shade trees. The location in town is fantastic! Plenty of parking spaces and on a nice quiet street. I give this seafood stop 4 Golden Buoy Awards out of a possible 4

Everything we ordered for lunch was literally perfect. Lobster roll, whole belly clams, and the best onion rings I’ve ever had. Super friendly service.

I’m so glad this place opened. The food is outstanding… very simple, good quality, great value. It’s too clean and organized to be considered a «dive» … more like a walk-up, take-out /eat-in, fast-but-not-fast food little restaurant. Kinda reminds me of the little food stops you’d see overseas… walk up, grab some great food, sit and relax. They are on the other side of town from us but, if they were closer to us, I’d probably be there every day for lunch. The owner, Eda, is a very wonderful woman who genuinely cares about her customers and life in general. On our first visit she stopped by our table when we were finished and we ended up talking for hours. She’s an absolutely wonderful person. We talked about everything from her growing up in Cuba, our families, life… she’s a very easy person to talk with. The type of person who has passion for everything she does. I guess we should discuss the food. Again, it’s great… On our first visit my wife had the Fish & Chips … a dish she constantly orders at restaurants and never enjoys. She loved it. The fish was light and the batter was perfect. Other restaurants use a heavier batter which soaks up the grease. Her onion rings were freshly coated and fried and actually had flavor. The Scallop Roll is great… sautéed and seasoned perfectly with good sized sea scallops. Eda, the owner, made it clear that she wants to someday bake her own rolls and bread. Until then, I’ll be happy with this just the way it is. The calamari is also quite good… good flavor, nice texture. You have your choice of marinara, tartar, or cocktail sauce… all of which are fine.

Amazing little place hidden in torrington. I had the fish and chips dinner. The fried flounder was perfect. Only complaint is the thin fries … would love to have waffle cut seasoned as an option. I look forward to getting the clam strips next time

Great classics & incredible service. I’ll be eating here regularly. I showed even well after they closed & they still stayed open. A new Torrington classic.

I saw the commercial for this place one day and it stuck in my head. My fiancé and I went there tonight. He got the sea scallops and I got the clam strips. I don’t know why someone said it is over breaded because I thought the exact opposite. He does all the breading right then and there and it’s great. We did an order or onion rings and one of French fries just to taste both and it came with a ton and were great as well. Neither of us could finish our full meals. The sea scallops were done very well and were the perfect kind of tender. And my strips were good as well, but you really can’t mess those up.

Well, I was surprised. The fried fish sandwich today was great. My wife and I shared it. Plenty of fish, the breading was very good, the fish fresh and tasty, and the tartar sauce good. If you live in Goshen, this is convenient. The owner is fun and proud! Enjoy!

Ok, another disappointing restaurant in ttown. I was assured by the owner that the meal is going to be outstanding, it wasn’t! Heavy breading on fresh oysters?! The wife had fish and chips which is totally bland and nothing stood out to be outstanding like they claim to be .It should have been in a nice batter and not heavily breaded! Ordered french fries but instead received onion rings which again… Were heavily breaded! An hour later it felt like I had eaten a brick for dinner! Would consider going back if they changed from a heavy breading to a nice batter. And added seasoning to the food! Very nice people but it doesn’t make up for the disappointing food! Don’t brag about subpar food! Make good food and people will come back! Definitely not worth the expensive price especially since they claim to have the largest portions in New England! Portion size isn’t as important as taste!
