This Goodwill is probably my least favorite thrifting spot but I try to pop in when I’m in the area. It’s fairly large & well organized but the prices are the highest I’ve seen around. If they had great brands then I wouldn’t complain but who would spend almost $ 10 on a ratty second hand Wal-Mart shirt? I wouldn’t discourage anyone from going here just don’t expect a good deal. At least the money goes to help the community!

The prices and the quality of things vary quite extensively. One day you could come across something amazing but it’s expensive, but then another week the item could be amazing but cheap. This is a great thrift store, and the employees are always very nice and helpful.

I go here frequently, but much much less than I did just 4 months ago. Mens clothes mixed in with womens clothes, wild kids screaming and running around, ridiculously high pricing of Target items, dinnerware scattered all over the store, prices changed(for the higher) on the bottom of shoes. I’ve been to Goodwill stores in different states and they frequently have Dollar Days to clear out overloaded clothes racks. Time to do it in Torrington. There are a ½ dozen employees who really work hard and do a good job, but the others are busy talking with their buds and not paying attention to inventory placement. Oh, and some of the newer younger employees have filthy mouths on the floor and I can hear them whooping it up in the back. Also, I don’t want to hear them complain to one another about Goodwill. Managers, I want to recognize who you are.

I tend to pop in GOODWILL to peruse through the book section, sometimes I look around for something to paint on,(Vase, Shell, Pottery etc…) being an artist my creativity is always working overtime. I really can’t say if they upped their prices but I really don’t see much of a difference.

Very nice store. Clean, well lit, neat as a pin, friendly staff. We got my teenage son a blue blazer here a few years ago, when he said«I need a blue blazer tomorrow». Well we zipped over to Torrington and got something that fit the bill for a one-time wearing. We went back tonight to get some Christmas sweaters for the December Unilocal get together, and I scored a great deal– four music CDs from the Temps, Four Tops, Drifters and the Platters for just $ 4. Build Me Up, Buttercup indeed!

This is the cleanest, best-organized thrift shop you are ever going to see. The staff are uniformly pleasant and helpful. Nice, handicapped-accessible bathroom in the back. Prices are generally somewhere between fantastic and amazing. The problem is finding something worth buying, but when you do, it’s going to make you very happy. The huge amount of clothing is rigorously separated by color, which may or may not be your cup of tea, but it seems to work. Toward the front wall are the women’s «Boutique» items, which seems to mean anything with a recognizable label: Land’s End, J. Crew, Ann Taylor Loft, J. Jill, Lucky jeans, L.L. Bean – which is to say nothing trendy or even fashionable. Good-condition, if conservative, office wear. No vintage here, although they used to have massive amounts of cheap, fabulous costume jewelry in the cases near the register. Occasional sightings of wedding dresses, bridesmaid gowns, and prom-type dresses. The sheer volume of low-level clothing means you can probably find something for a couple of bucks. Men’s clothing is 98% t-shirts, 1% horrible ties, and 1% nice-ish tweed blazers. Huh. High points are women’s belts, which are often just weird enough to be cool, and books, always some recent bestsellers. An increasing number of vinyl records to the right as you enter. Shoes/boots are hit or miss. Also grouped by color, so sandals are next to snowboots. Low points: Housewares, unless you collect mugs with bizarro messages(as I do); and the small amount of furniture, although there are occasional brushes with greatness(i.e. We once found the perfect bedside table here, with no pricetag. «How much?» we asked the manager. «Uh, would you do five?» he said. Being from NYC, we actually thought, «Can this table really cost $ 500?» But then we regained our sanity, happily slapped down $ 5 for it, and ran out before he could change his mind.)
