Pricey but yummy. Lunch without apps $ 15. They’re very nice with service and it’s very very clean, like they haven’t stopped cleaning my whole meal. Charming workers and restaurant. I wish I got some fresh herbs, or chives or veggies to lighten up the bowl also needed for the price paid.

Here lies an overrated and flavor deprived bowl restaurant that is inexplicably rated at a 4 by the masses. I had bookmarked this, hoping for a fast casual restaurant that prided itself on deep flavors that would leave me craving it’s food in my sleep. Honestly, Shop House, which gives me a stomach ache, has a better chance of me coming back. Why? The vegetables are blanched and lack seasoning. If you watch any food network show for 5 minutes, you’ll see them season the vegetables. It’s cooking 101 that they are flunking at. My pork belly was actually great, but my wife’s steak looked like what you see sprinkled on nachos bell grande at Taco Bell. A high note were the ugly egg rolls, which appear to be cut prior to frying so they get all deformed and look like Sloth from Goonies. Their sweet and sour dipping sauce is thinner than an Olsen Twin, and was very unimpressive. With so many great Asian restaurants in the area, I’m not likely to blink in its direction again.

Took an oral journey through Seoul, Shanghai, and Bangkok. The Yellow Fever Torrance location is in a tiny strip mall with an Animé type place next door. Order your food at the counter, find a table, and bowls are delivered to you. Seoul.a Korean bowl with steak, egg, slaw, and a slightly spicy sauce. Tasty… Shanghai.a pork belly bowl with onions, Bock Choy, sweet soy sauce for the salad, rice the best bowl as the belly was cut in small chewy fried pieces. almost like a carnitas but with fattier pieces. Bangkok…grilled chicken breast, mushroom, slaw, rice, in a coconut curry sauce…, had the nice smokey, locker room taste to it. Asian Fries with Furikake and Parmesean Cheese served with a sweet, Siracha type, mayo sauce… Very good. Although we would have liked more Furikake sprinkles… The Iced Matcha Green Tea is not very good and suggest a pass on this drink. Overall, all of the bowls and the fries were tasty although a bit over priced for the location. Order takers and servers were very nice and helpful. Nice bright modem industrial ambiance with a parking lot. Bathrooms are also clean.

Stopped by just because I was craving lychee lemonade and Unilocal help me find it here. The lemonade was definitely good and refreshing but the lychee flavor was barely there. Bummer. Ordered the Seoul bowl and it looks really good upon arrival. However, it was completely drenched in that Korean red sauce which made it so incredibly salty and I just couldn’t finish my bowl. Ask for the sauces on the side so you can control the amount. The beef was rather dry and I kind of expected it to taste, oh I don’t know, Korean? This was not the case. The beef could use a marinade and the«Asian slaw» confused me because it was just pickled carrots. Might stop by for another lychee lemonade if I’m in the area but probably wouldn’t eat here again

I’ve been to this place on numerous occasions and really love the concept as it is a fusion take on the traditional Korean«bibimbab»(which is mixed vegetables, sometimes meat with rice). While I love the traditional Korean style dish, its often hard to find something similar given that there are no amazing Korean restaurants in the South Bay and also because Yellow Fever makes take-out very accessible! Highlights: — Californian: Being a vegetarian, I usually get this bowl because they used baked organic tofu sausage. Sometimes I think fake meat can taste too fake, but they really do a good job with their tofu sausage! Its extremely tasty and flavorful. I get this bowl with half rice and half salad and its the perfect portion for me! I always request dressing on the side — Parmesan Furikake Fries: YUM! If you love parmesan and you love furikake., then get this! My only complaint is that the portions are a bit small for the price, but its fairly fresh and quite delicious, so its totally worth it for me! *Parking can be a bit difficult because their lot is small, but you can park in the other lot next to it, especially if you’re just ordering takeout.

This place is great, it has 7 different type of set Asian bowls, with your choice of white rice, brown rice, rice noodles & even into a salad. My favorite is the Tokyo chicken bowl, they also have some amazing parmesan fries that I can’t pronounce(parmesan furikake fries). I recommend this place if you’re in the area, and if you happen to be nearby on a Sunday they have a great Loco Moco(only on Sundays). When you get your bowl don’t forget to get an additional topping like ginger chips, green onion, or a fried egg.

Overpriced and overrated. I ordered the Seoul Bowl with half rice and half noodles as the base, added kimchi(a tiny bit for an extra 75 cents) and one ugly eggroll on the side(around $ 1.70 for one). My total came out to be around $ 15. The Seoul bowl comes with filet mignon, which sounded really tasty, but it was nothing special. It was really chewy and tasted like it was just marinated in soy sauce. It still had a good flavor, and the bowl came with a good amount of meat, but it was definitely still not worth the price. The other sides that came with the bowl had distinct flavors, but I feel like they contrasted too much to be together in the same bowl. The noodles were very meh. They’re just plain noodles. I tried one ugly eggroll because many other reviews mentioned how delicious they were. Maybe I just got unlucky, because mine was really tiny and burnt. It barely tasted like anything. I probably won’t be back again. Not really interested in trying any of the other bowls on their limited menu. Make sure you take a look at the menu before you come in because you might not really find anything you like.

This place surprised me with the most unsuspecting thing. The sauce they serve with the fries. They call it the fry sauce. I have no idea what exactly this sauce is made out of, but it is one of the most delicious dipping sauces I have had. Its totally unique. I never tasted anything like it. Its amazing. The fries themselves are fantastic. They are thin cut burnt bland pieces of soggy potato. They are nice thick steamy hot fried to perfection pieces of potato. They know how to make a good french fry. They have it down the right way. I usually get the California bowl with a side of curry sauce. The California bowl is the vegetarian option. You won’t even miss the meat. Its really good. Especially with the curry sauce. They are nice together. The ugly egg rolls are fantastic. the service is great too. They never disappoint. They always serve you with a smile. Now this place is a little expensive for the size they give you. It about $ 10 for a bowl. With a side of fries or egg roll and a drink it’ll come you to about $ 20. Its a little pricy, but its worth it. One annoying thing about this place is that they close so early. I think they close at 8:30pm everyday. Thats way too early especially on the weekends. Although they do have a parking lot with free parking they barely have any spots and its always crowded so its hard to get in and out of. But overall i would recommend this place. It is really good.

I’ve been curious about this place so I got some bowls to go. The two most popular bowls according to the staff was the Seoul bowl and the Shanghai bowl. I liked my Shanghai bowl, which had yummy pork belly and a good mix of veggies(carrots, bok choy, and onions). I only tried the beef from my bf’s Seoul bowl, but he told me the entire bowl was good. The restaurant is pretty cool looking, which was surprising because the plaza it is located in is kind of old. I like the concept, offering bowls representing each Asian culture(Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, etc.); however — there’s no Filipino bowl right now, what’s up with that? Haha. Staff here is also very nice and friendly. The only thing I would wish is that they lower the price — I feel like $ 10 – 11 is kind too expensive for the size, maybe knock it down to $ 8 or $ 9? However, I would still come back, the bowls are pretty good!

After our first visit to Yellow Fever 2 years ago, my boyfriend and I finally decided to give them a second chance. This time I ordered: The California Bowl with an ugly egg roll on top My boyfriend ordered: The Tokyo bowl with double protein and an ugly egg roll on top(Our last visit his bowl came with barely any chicken). We also ordered a side of sweet potato fries since I remembered it to be amazing. My California Bowl was surprisingly good compared to the Bangkok bowl that I had last time. The ugly egg roll was yummy, but I don’t think it was worth it for $ 1.70 more. it was literally half an egg roll. Haha. My boyfriend thought his Tokyo bowl was just whatever. He still managed to eat most of it because he was hungry, but doesn’t seem like he enjoyed it. I was extremely disappointed with the sweet potato fries. They were not how I remembered them to be. The fries were all slightly burnt and tasteless. The total for our meal came out to be $ 35. I considered this very pricey for a casual sit down/to-go restaurant. Not sure if we’ll be coming back due to the priciness…

A great place for lunch. A coworker recommended this place for a quick lunch break. The $ 9 Kona was bombdiggity. Quick to serve. Good lighting and simple décor makes this an enjoyable lunch experience.

We have seen this place for a long time and always talked about trying it it. But for some reason, the name kind of turned me off. Every time I thought about going, yellow fever made me think of being sick. I know I am weird but it’s just how I felt. Finally I decided to give it a try because I noticed all the Unilocal hype and felt like I must be missing out on something. I wish I loved this place, my husband and son really liked it and husband told me he would give a 5 star, but I wasn’t as impressed. I got the Seoul bowl and was told it was going to be spicy but I felt like it didn’t have much flavor at all. I just kind of ate to fill myself up but didn’t love what I was eating. My husband got Shanghai pork belly bowl and said he thought it was delicious. I tried it and didn’t like it much more than my Seoul bowl. Maybe I’m just not keen on the type of food they serve because it seems like everyone else really enjoys it. In hindsight, I wish that we would have split a bowl and gotten a couple of the shared dishes. Some of the shared dishes like the wings, pickles, egg roles, looked really good. The staff was very friendly and a manager or maybe the owner came over to chat with us which is always nice. We came at lunch on a weekend and were able to find parking in the private lot. I will definitely give them another try because I am curious to try out the shared dishes

Delicious. Clean. Fast. Healthy. Seriously I wish this place was much closer to where I lived, I would probably be in at least once a week. Several different options on the menu for vegetarians and carnivores alike, and delicious add ons for whatever you fancy. Downer: The parking lot is SMALL, so you may have to go park over at the bowling alley and walk over but that is pretty much it.

I have waited so long to write my review for Yellow Fever. One of my good friends have been raving about them for ages and she is a regular there. And my boyfriend is currently hooked on dining here. The reason why I waited to write my review was because I was not impressed the first few times of eating here. I really REALLY want to like the food here. Granted the first couple of times I ordered low-carb bowls(no rice or noodles). I was discussing it with my boyfriend and he suggested that I at least try one more time with the carbs. My last order, I got the Bangkok Bowl with Sticky Rice. I always get extra sriracha sauce on the side. Even with the extra hot sauce, I felt it was lacking in taste. I ate all the rice but had a hard time eating up the rest. I will still try another visit with the noodles and see if I have a preference. But overall, of the many times that I’ve been here I still haven’t found the one dish for me. The service is always excellent and consistent. They have a no-tip policy and will return your money if you did accidentally tip them. There is a small parking lot in the front and exiting is especially difficult during rush hour.

I finally to come here and try out their bowls! When we first got there at 11:30 there was no one there. After we got in and ordered that was when all the people started coming in. I got the Bangkok which was creamy and tasted good. It wasn’t like extremely spicy, and I had looked at their menu beforehand so I kind of knew what I was getting myself into. Bae got the Shanghai bowl. We also got a side of the ugly egg rolls, and yes they were ugly, but they tasted good. Bae who is a professional cook, was trying to figure out exactly what it is that they put in the sauce for the egg rolls. He decided that it was fish sauce, and lemon juice. Overall I would defintely come back! And try out some of their other bowls. Even though the egg rolls were good, I wouldn’t say that you would need to order them if you came here. I could easily make these kind of egg rolls at home. Although how they got them looking so ugly is kind of a mystery to me. If you are vegetarian there is an option of the california bowl(I think?) that is vegetarian. Which is good for me since I’m trying to go a little more to the veggie side. I might need to try out that bowl next time! The only downside I can see from this place is that it closes at 8:30pm which is a little early for a restaurant. But if you are in the area and want to try something delicious and it’s around lunch time, I would say just come here!

This place definitely caught me off guard! Who knew my taste buds could visit Japan and Korea at the same time! This modern take on delicious asian cuisine is a great pit stop on your daily work grind. Visit Seoul for lunch and enjoy some filet mignon and egg then take home a piece of China with the Shanghai bowl filled with pork belly and that good ol’ KUNGPOWPOW sauce. The taste of this place is fantastic! If I had to be picky however, the service was great though I was a bit confused as to why we are assigned numbers on the receipt but no table top number to let servers know where we are sitting. The price can be a bit steep but I can understand it considering they are serving PRETTYGOOD food! The parking could also a little bit more accommodating. Check out Yellow Fever and try the Parmesan french fries!

Discovering our new city, I look to Unilocal for new food adventures. After reading some good and funny reviews, I bookmarked Yellow Fever. That same evening running our errands, we come across it and made a stop for dinner. Special bowls designed to accommodate different parts of Asia. Clever. It’s like a version of bibimbap to cater different Asian cultures. Add more toppings for an additional cost. Started with the ugly egg rolls. It is definitely an ugly looking egg roll, but quite tasty. Dipping fish sauce isn’t so fishy. I had the Tokyo bowl with beef. I enjoyed it. Slightly too salty with the egg sauce, but I was able to control how much I put in my bowl. Boyfriend had the Shanghai. He felt his dish was a bit too bland for him. Overall, a good spot for your rice/noodle bowl upgrade.

Honestly, I tried this place with a couple friends and I don’t understand the hype ~D: Sorry! The people here are realllllllllllllllllly realllllllllllly nice and also gave us free Pocky. a bunch of it… so I feel really really really awful leaving a subpar review… but I have to tell the truth. [-3] I think it’s all about size. my friends and I had to keep adding more sauce to make it taste better. Maybe it was just too healthy tasting for us without any sauce. I mean, we mixed it up together(and we all had different bowls) but it was so bland. I wouldn’t mind having the flavor of the food with the flavor of the sauces. but it was just sauce flavor. Bleh… And it wasn’t just me. my friends weren’t too fond of it either. [+1] The presentation is definitely very nice though. The bowls LOOK tasty and presentable. Very colorful and filled with food, hahah [+1] Their paraphernalia were also really adorable and I loved their pins! Snag some!

According to this restaurant, Yellow Fever by definition is «when someone is obsessed with Asian things.» This Japanese, Korean, Asian fusion restaurant with its«Anyong», «Itadakimasu» and cute menu will definitely excite your taste buds. My mom actually pushed me to try this place because they offer organic vegetables(whenever possible), and premium meats and hormone/antibiotic-free chicken. The prices are fairly expensive compared to others who sell similar items, so you can chalk that up to spending more on «quality» food or just being overpriced. You can create your own bowl or choose from a Signature Bowl. To start off, you choose your base(rice, rice noodles, field greens, half/half). For an extra charge, you can add toppings such as kimchi, ginger chips, double rice, avocado, etc. My favorite Signature Bowl is the *Seoul Bowl; grilled filet mignon, fried egg, gochu sauce over a bed of rice noodles… yummy! The filet mignon sometimes came out dry and overcooked, while other times was cooked to perfection. When debating on side orders, you must try the ‘ugly egg rolls’ and ‘parmesan furikake french fries’. French fries covered in loads of Parmesan cheese and Furikake(a dry Japanese seasoning) how can that not make your mouth water?! The egg rolls and french fries come with a side of dipping sauce that compliments it very well. Now onto the parking situation, oh how I hate this teenie tiny parking lot during peak dining hours. Cross your fingers for an open parking spot, have someone drop you off in front or park next door. Recently, the service is hit or miss for me; thank you for greeting and acknowledging the line of people who just walked in, but it often takes a while for someone to step up to the register and actually take the order. I regularly crave Yellow Fever now that I do not work in Torrance or have easy access to this restaurant. I will definitely come back next time I am in the area.
