YUMM! best tacos in town, recommended, good for lunch.

One star, because it’s like a fireworks stand that only sells snakes and sparklers. We had the(not so) Super Nachos, beef & chicken tacos, and an all beef burrito. The nachos were skimpy, and the tacos were not very good. The front door was propped open, which explains why I had flying bugs landing on my food. Cleanliness was a problem. The place looked like it needed to be hosed down… with bleach. As I sat down to the table, I stuck my arm in something sticky. That is never appetizing. The straw that broke the camel’s back, this place is cash only. Yes, it’s 2016, and I said cash only. With a very limited menu, terrible food, and a dirty dining area, there’s no way I would be back, or recommend this place.

Quite simply, this is «Mexican» food for white people. I am white, but I enjoy authentic flavor in my Latin food. I’m sure this is gluten free or something hip like that but it tastes very plain. From the plain salsa to the plain meat. Some people may like that, but not me.

All I have to say is Tom and his Tacos are bomb. I recommend getting a side of rice because it is amazing. Even if you get a burrito you’ll still be very satisfied. This place would be great if you have been drinking or have had the munchies! Go visit Tom.

Cash only, expensive and sub-par food. Ordered a basket of fries and an order of nachos. Paid 10 $ for them to pour canned cheese over chips. Had the tacos on another occasion and was not impressed at all, mushy chicken and beef that was certainly nothing to write home about. Second time here and the last!

Found this place and saw people comparing it to Titos Tacos which I am very familiar with. Since moving to South Bay obviously its a trek to get to the Westside and so of course we had to give it a try. We ordered a beef taco, chicken taco, bean and cheese burrito as well as a beef/bean/cheese burrito. The burritos are hefty in size and VERY filling. The chips arent the same but theirs are just as good. I believe this is a great alternative place for those Titos Tacos cravings — definitely coming back. Toms is located in a shopping strip mall closer to CVS — parking doesnt seem to be too bad at any times. This is a CASHONLY place.

We just got done eating at Toms Tacos. Like a lot of reviewers have said, it is very similar to Tito’s in Culver City but in my opinion Tom’s food is better. We tried the tacos, beef bean and cheese and bean and cheese burritos. I thought it was all delicious. The red salsa is pretty mild, but we were also offered up a green salsa that had a nice kick to it. The guacamole isn’t the mashed avocado kind, more like a thinner guacamole sauce, but tasty all the same. The owner Ted is very personable, and you can tell he appreciates his customers. He seemed to know quite a few(I’m guessing regulars). It looks like the majority of his business is take out and the orders were all ready when people came to pick up. We will definitely be back.

I am sorry Señor Tom… but your food does not rival Tito’s Tacos. Anyone telling you that is blowing smoke up your know where! A little too vulgar for ya? Well let me put it to you this way… The taco is a decent size and a decent price but the carne has no flavor. The beef and bean burrito does have a hint of Tito’s but the sauce was not as rich and the cut of meat not as tender. This mezclada Latina knows… sprinkle a little cumin on your homemade burrito sauce and it too will«taste» a little like a Tito’s burrito. I did find that the gentleman at the counter was very pleasant, the place was very clean, and the service was quick. Will I go back? Put the lard back in and I will think about it!

I found this place here on Unilocal a while back. Today, since i have to stay at work til night, i decided to actually try it. If you’re craving for some tito’s tacos and you’re in the southbay area, you should go to this place. Their tacos are pretty much the same as tito’s. Minus the Culver City traffic. The guy(maybe owner) is really nice. Bring cash!

Wow! Really good tacos, almost as good as Tito’s! Although not authentic, they’re delish!!! More on the pricey side of things with each taco being about $ 2 and up but you don’t have to deal with the lines at Tito’s. Ok, yes! It’s not Tito’s and yes, something small seems to be missing… a spice perhaps, maybe cumin? But being as close as it is and never really a line this beats the drive and the wait that comes along with Tito’s tacos. This will do! It’s really good and made to order. Is it original, no. Is it good, YES!

Simple hard shell tacos yesssss just like Tito’s Tacos. I liked the chicken taco with cheese more than beef but if you love bean and cheese burritos they got a mean delicious one. Get some guacamole to place on top of everything or even the salsa for their complementary chips and salsa is a great topper. Only bummer is that they are a cash only spot and I rarely carry cash.

My family and I went on the recommendation of a co-worker. Definite hidden jewel in the South Bay. This place is a keeper. Reasonable portions, with reasonable prices. Bring cash. Flavors are fresh and delicious! My husband has become a regular. Nice place to go with friends and family. Friendly staff, always have a smile on their face.

I was introduced to Tom’s Tacos when my friend told me it’s like Tito’s but closer lol They’ve since moved locations, in a closer(to me) and better area! Environment A simple restaurant, nothing fancy. A few tables and maybe one table seating outside. A counter to order, a TV, and that’s about it. The chairs look like they need some new cushions but it’s kept clean in general, and that’s always a plus(and needed) in a restaurant. Food I usually get the Tom’s plate. It comes with one taco of your choice, rice, and beans, plus it comes with chips and salsa. All for under $ 5! Super great deal. The tacos do resemble Tito’s, I love them. I’m not a huge fan of the rice, but it’s still good. And the chips and salsa are great. The great part is that they don’t use lard. If you’re a vegetarian, your choices are limited, so if you are, you might want to check out the menu first. Service The owner, Ted, is great. He may seem a little unfriendly at first but he’s actually not lol He’s quick with your orders and is precise. Tip: Cash only!

ZERO Flavor. Nowhere near as good as Tito’s, which is what everyone compares this place to. I’ll take my chances of getting mugged in the ghetto for some real tacos instead.

Ordered their famous hard shell tacos(beef and chicken) – wow! Imagine Titos in culver city, South Bay version! Their tacos are extremely fresh. Highly recommend trying this place, which is conveniently located inside a shopping center next to vons(ample parking). Thanks Ted(owner) for your time, you’ll do great here!

If you are a fan of Titos Tacos in Culver City, you will love this place! It’s the same stuff without the lines & parking hassle of Titos. The menu has a few more options than Titos and I like that you can get combination plates(i.e., taco, rice & beans). Just don’t expect traditional Mexican food because it’s a different taste(check out the pictures before you complain or judge). Different but delicious! The store itself is small but very clean and everyone is friendly. Stop by if you are in the area!

After reading reviews about this place — and how it rivaled the ever-so-famous Tito’s Tacos — I knew I had to give it a try. I always had Tito’s as a kid. My grandparents live nearby and I always begged them to take me there when I’d visit them. So, while my expectations were high, I’m happy to say that Tom’s impressed me. One thing that is a stand-out difference between Tito’s and Tom’s is the service. I didn’t quite know what to expect upon walking in the door, but I was greeted with smiles and wonderful people. The gentleman at the front who took my order(I’d like to believe it was Tom, himself) was extremely friendly and welcoming. He asked me how my day was going and asked if I had been in before, and offered a few suggestions for lunch. I didn’t, in any way, feel rushed, or expected to leave a tip like I tend to at Tito’s. After a little bit of a debate in my head, I ordered two tacos with cheese and a side of chips and salsa to-go. While I was waiting for my food, he chatted with many people who came in and he knew almost all of their names. It’s nice to see such great customer service. In regards to the food, my my, was it tasty. Yes, it reminded me of Tito’s, but there were a lot of aspects that made it TOM’S. The meat in the tacos was more flavorful. The tacos themselves were a lot less greasy. The salsa was chunkier and a little less spicy(which is probably a bummer for some, but I can’t handle spiciness all that well!) Prices seemed to be a little cheaper, too.(Please remember, it’s CASHONLY!) I’m thrilled to have found this place. Can’t wait to come back!

Yay for Tom’s Tacos in the South Bay! Originally in Anaheim, this place is now in Torrance. Like others Unilocalers have mentioned, this is like Tito’s Tacos in Culver City. The owner is actually a fan of Tito’s and bought Tito’s location in OC. Same great taste as Tito’s but no need to drive down Sepulveda or get on the 405. How sweet it is to have a great taco place in the South Bay! I tried the tacos with cheese here and got one chicken and one beef. I liked my tacos a lot. The tacos are filled with fresh ingredients. There is no trans fat, no lard or no msg. Winner! The salsa they serve is fresh too. I also got to try the taquitos as well and though this was good too, I think the tacos are my favorite. The tacos are yummy and very affordable starting at $ 2.25(it’s $ 2.70 with cheese). Aside from tacos and taquitos, this place offers other tasty treats like burritos, tostadas, nachos, quesadillas and chili con carne. I can’t wait to try some of these other items during future visits! I am so excited this place is in the South Bay and I will be back for sure for more tacos and also to try some of their other offerings.

Bingo! Tom’s Tacos is one of my new fav’s…and given I grew up on the famous Culver City Tito’s Tacos, Tom’s easily takes its place especially for those of us in the South Bay. No drive to Culver City, no standing in long lines, and no chance of a lackluster greeting. Instead, Ted greets you as if you’re a family member and is polite as can be. Friendly, helpful and nice… Ted is a gentleman indeed. And judging from the way the regulars greeted Ted, I can tell his customers think so too. Speedy service, fresh ingredients, tasty salsa, not spicy hot, but a good flavor nonetheless. Pourable guacamole, cool and perfect for slathering onto burritos or into tacos. Ted has been in business for 17+ years… and I can see why. What he does works so if you’re hankering for some tacos and burritos, head to Tom’s Tacos.

I’ve been craving TiTo’s Tacos for sometime now, but the idea of having to drive to Culver City always makes that craving go away. A friend of mine mentioned this place and told me it was worth trying! I’m so glad I did because it’s close to home. There are no lines and no fuss. I ordered two beef tacos and it came with a side of salsa and chips. The tacos were crunchy and had the right amount of meat. The salsa was delicious! Fresh, not spicy. As most reviews/tips mention– they only accept cash.

I’m always on the hunt for quick easy food between my kids’ sports practice locations and home. While we are dedicated fans to our other favorite Mexican food places, the one thing I haven’t noticed there were my kids’ favorites — taquitos. So I turned to the Unilocalers… Now, my son is a huge creature of habit and protested right to the front door about trying some place new or taquitos other than the ones he gets at Trader Joes, but once we got in and he smelled the food, he stopped talking. We ordered beef taquitos for him, chicken taquitos for my daughter, and 3 beef tacos with cheese for me. My anti-sauce son said he didn’t want his quacamole(comes with taquitos) but, I wanted it on the side! Even though we showed up with like 14 min. to spare, all employees were energetic, ready to help get us fed before they closed. When I got to the car my anti-lettuce son peeped out one last protest against lettuce that was a non-issue as they are wrapped neatly in paper, not on messy lettuce. I handed him the 2 taquitos and for a split second thought — well now I know why the prices are so cheap. But the second my son bit into them his first words out of his mouth from that very first bit were«Give them 5 stars, these are SO good!» After chips and the drink, he was full — which is quite an achievement for my 14-year old bottomless pit. My anti-melted cheese daughter didn’t say a word as she crunched through her taquitos. She too was completely full after 2 taquitos. As the driver of the bus, I had to wait until we got home to dive into my tacos and between the chips, salsa and 3 still perfectly crunchy tacos, I was stuffed! I will only get 2 next time. Our Three-Thumb review is Three thumbs up! My 14-year old son said the taquitos were«substantial» meaning — stuffed full of meat! I loved the flavor of the salsa. While it looked like it had a blander appearance than many salsas I’ve seen — the flavor was really great! I don’t know what the secret herb is in it, but I’ll ask next time. My 10-year old daughter(and her shirt) loved that though fried, they weren’t overly greasy. I can’t wait to go back and try a burrito next time! #ThreeThumbReviews
