Rather disappointed. Definitely not like the original Appetizer. Sandwiches were just meh, no flavor, not like the one up the hill.

Seriously! almost $ 20 for two medium sandwiches and that’s not including chips and drink. The bread was so freaking hard, I should of went across the street to Subway and got my moneys worth.

It is right next door to one of my restaurants… Chicken Maison so naturally I decided to check it out. I know they have another one in PV, but this one is closer to me. It is a bit pricey for pizza, but it’s good pizza. So you pay more for better food typically. Service is good, they greet you when you come in, only down side is that the food does take a bit longer than expected. If you’re looking for good food definitely stop by here. you won’t be disappointed

Family is visiting from out of town. First time ordering delivery and didn’t know what to expect. The pizza was amazing and the delivery took no more than an hour! The only thing that wasn’t good was that they didn’t give us paper plates or napkins but maybe I should have put that in the delivery comments.

This place is bomb. If you don’t like it you can just go and eat a bowl of dixs because you clearly don’t know the quality of a home cooked meal. Meat lasagna is the best dish.

I and my teenage girls have had The Appetizer several times now. We have really enjoyed the Chicken Marsala, pizzas and salads, oh, and omg, the fettuccini Alfredo, which I only allow myself a bite of but my girls die for. The Marsala is a unique preparation with less breaking on the chicken and more spices so the chicken has a more elegant taste than I am used to in a Marsala. The salads are super fresh and the pizzas have never been too oily. We love ordering from The Appetizer(the Torrance location is what’s close to us in Redondo).

Very very disappointed with this place. The restaurant was descent when they originally opened and the owner was always there but this was the second time I’ve been disappointed in the past month. Over the phone I ordered a penne pasta and I asked them to add chicken, cheese pizza, a 2 grilled chicken sandwiches. The pasta — they gave me spaghetti instead of penne which I normally wouldn’t complain about but its really tough for a 1.5 year old to eat spaghetti and much easier for them to pick up larger pieces of pasta. Upon arriving home I noticed that they left out the chicken. So I paid for Penne and chicken but received spaghetti with thick sauce that was semi-warm. Note — the pasta comes with a side salad which is soo old that the lettuce had freezer burn and was transparent and a dark green. Also, I asked for balsamic vinaigrette… and the girl behind the counter poured vinegar in a small plastic container… no olive oil. not a dressing. The pizza — tastes descent but why doesn’t the cheese onto fully melt!!! The chicken sandwiches — pretty good. All in all… I parked and walked by Chicken Maison which was PACKED and every seat was taken and walked into a restaurant with 2 tables occupied… so I really should blame myself for not wondering why right then and there and canceling my order. Just as a side note… the plastic flowers are really tacky and you might want to clean off all the dust at the top of your soft drink machine.

Other than the warm, friendly service, the cashier lady accommodated my request of building a half and half sandwich with pastrami and meatball. It was so good I felt sorry for my friends that they had ordered subs that were presumably inferior to mine. Thanks lady. And yes, it was worth the extra 1 $ for the large :)

This place is a hidden gem in a tiny strip mall. With some construction going on in the area it can be a bit tricky getting my in and out of this business. Once we got a parking spot and went inside we had our eyes on their meatball sandwich. These are not ordinary meatballs, but ones that are made fresh every day. The sandwich has just the right amount of sauce and the flavor or the meat was perfection, with just the right amount of spice. We also tried the roast beef sandwich which is also made and cooked in house. The meat was cooked medium rare to medium and was oh so tender and flavorful. We took our order to go, as we were heading to a concert that night and wanted to enjoy most of it there. This place was started up almost 43 years ago and still going strong. We will definitely be back for more Italian goodness.

We ordered: TORPEDO: this was ok… But the bread was just meh SPAGHETTI: came with garlic bread(which was good). Was to also come with a salad, but I guess they forgot. This was good. My girls liked it. GRILLEDCHICKENSALAD: this looked good… Only thing is that the chicken was over cooked. Overall. The food was ok.

FOODCRAWLSTOP #2 I went on a food crawl with fellow Unilocal Elite Gary G. The Rules: 4 restaurants, 3 hours, order only $ 20 worth of food at each place, and absolutely NO filling up on just one dish. Pulled into the strip mall where this place is located for the first time and accidentally parked in front of the restaurant next door: Chicken Maison. It was crowded as hell and although we didn’t want to wait, we took this as a good sign. Then we realized our mistake, and quickly stepped on over to Appetizer 2, which was dead as hell. We were the only people in the joint! But while we were ordering someone called for a delivery order and one other man came in, ate his sad dinner alone, and peaced out while we were still waiting for them to prepare our food. One calzone(comes with pepperoni and mozzarella) +add ricotta(up-charge) and one slice pizza +add pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, black olives, grilled pepper, onions(up-charge $ 0.50 per topping) and finally, one free can of Dr. Pepper for checking in on Unilocal. The calzone came out bursting the box seams, but surprisingly it wasn’t super stuffed with gooey cheese and pepperoni, it was primarily the bread. Bread was doughy and soft, nonetheless, all carbs and no cheese makes Jack a dull boy.(Red rum! Red rum!)(*hides under pillows*)(*peeks out to watch formerly cute Jack Nicholson in his heyday before he became a creepy old geezer lobbing soft pitches at the likes of Jennifer Lawrence.*) I digress. The pizza appeared next and although it wasn’t much to look at(in terms of color) it was pretty good pizza. I had trouble breaking the long string of cheese that would stretch from my lips to the slice with each bite, the mozzarella they use on the pizza is real deal string cheese and it won’t let go!(No complaints, I had my eatin’ pants on, I was ready to do this thing.) Overall it isn’t a place I would return anytime soon but it wasn’t terrible either. I’m sure the BOMB food at the mediterranean place next door is probably stealing a ton of their business. Additionally the menu displayed on the walls had all the prices blanked out because, alas, everything went up $ 1. Such is the cost of slingin’ pies in L.A.

Great sicilian-style pizza. Roast beef sandwich is also excellent. Sicilian pizza often gets cheese stuck to pizza box during the delivery. Classic ‘noid.

We go here all the time, convenient and fast but awesome quality. Great tasting food, the best linguine and clams dish I’ve ever had. The sandwiches are big and tasty. We had extremely good service, so friendly and helpful. They made us feel like family.

Go for the sandwiches! That’s what you can gather from this review. The garlic bread was ok. They may have altered their recipe for the garlic bread for something a little more mainstream. As of now, they serve fish and chips. Haven’t had them yet but they should be an interesting treat. Their margarita pizzas are topped with bruschetta style on top of cheese pizza, which may sound unoriginal at first but the combination suits itself quite nicely. Parking you will find in the lot, no problem. The service, we must have caught them at a good time because they were very friendly. I know this review is kind of running down the list of what’s covered here but this is for those who want to get straight to the point of The Appetizer and why stop here versus other place? I’ll tell you why, again. It’s for the Italian sandwiches.

I have been going to the other location of this restaurant for 30+ years and keep coming back for the same thing – the prosciutto sandwich. No other place I have been to makes an Italian sandwich that is on par with this one – it is simply amazing!

DELIVERYSUCKS! SLOPPY! DOESNOTCAREABOUTTHEQUALITY! I have been ordering pizza from the appetizer for years and they recently are very inconsistent with their pizza. They lack quality control! I have had them re make pizzas that I specifically ask to make sure it’s cooked all the way. Nothing is worse than a pizza where all the cheese falls off when you eat it ! And the delivery drivers don’t care about the safety of my pizza! I’ve received pizza where half the cheese has slid off onto the box. I would think the grease pool that seeps out the box would make the driver aware. The customer service is always terrible to deal with! The females are always rude and think they know how to spell my address correctly, trying to tell me they don’t deliver to me when I have been ordering from both restaurants for years now. They are losing me as a customer. Switching to telling people about papa guido’s now.

Not bad! I ordered a ham and cheese sandwich from here. It was good, and neatly made(yes, I’ve had messy sandwiches that fell apart before). If you check in, you get a coupon for one free soda. The service was very kind. :)
