Salon H By Hala

I really wanted to give this salon a try. I came in to get a balayage color on my hair with a stylist I was assigned to named Xinan. Well I had been over with the stylist and receptionist though phone calls and text messages very clearly many, many times that I had applied dark brown semi-​permanent hair dye in my hair about a couple months ago and if it was going to need anything extra other than just color to make what I had envisioned happen because I was not interested if it was going to be a «process». The stylist told me yes and it could be done that same day, so I booked the appointment came in earlier per her request. Once I sat down she did a test on a strand of hair and it just was not happening for me she said. As I’m sitting in the chair for about 30 mins as all the girls in the break room were talking about, she then comes up to me saying I required a «color correction» and they charge by the hour and something a long the line of over $ 100 plus the balayage get $ 165 so basically after I HAD ALREADY gone over the fact that I have had color in my hair previously she now tells me that it’s going to be well over $ 400 to get started and extra for a conditioning treatment. I wasted my time waking up that early making arrangements to be there, got my hopes up to basically get overwhelmed with a totally different price than she had already told me. In my head I was like «I had already told her what my situation was and she still told me that it was okay to come in?!». What’s worse is that the owner or who ever was in charge at that moment didn’t assist her in this situation at all. I walked out very disappointed and upset.

This was my first visit to this salon, and it was an excellent experience! Stephanie worked wonders with my thick, curly, challenging hair and gave me great tips on how to care for my hair. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommended!

Xinan is amazing and I will only trust her with my hair. I have been going here for the last 3 years. I went with Xinan since she was highly recommended on Unilocal.Appointments usually available within the next two weeks or sooner. My hair grows so quickly and healthy after she cuts it. She is also very supportive since I only use Henna to color my hair (other stylist have given me negative remarks). It is a little pricey for my college student budget around $ 50 for cut and blow out, but it is so worth it. I try to go at least every six months as my budget allows. If you try a new style she will show you techniques for how to style it yourself at home. Salon is beautiful also, they offer tea and coffee and everyone is great.

Stephanie is amazing. She was able to change her schedule to accommodate mine. She did a hair cut and highlights and it looks amazing! I’m very impressed with the results :) and I have a ton of hair to work with.

I received a color retouch and hair cut. I have super curly hair, and they knew that when I booked the appointment. I also mentioned in advance that I would like my hair to be flat ironed when it was time to style my hair. My roots were quite wavy still and I had to fix it when I got home. There was still color on my skin that was easily visible that needed to be scrubbed off when I got home as well. I REALLY liked my haircut! Everyone was super polite and friendly.

I absolutely LOVE this Salon! Joanne is AMAZING! She is always so kind and professional, making sure I’m super happy. Her color, cuts, and style are phenomenal and I always receive wonderful compliments on my hair after she’s worked her magic. If I could give more stars I would!

The service and staffs at Salon H are amazing, especially Joanne! She is extremely friendly and helpful, and also provides awesome color and haircuts all the time. She takes good care to ensure her customers are fully satisfied with their looks.
I highly recommend going to Salon H. They are the best salon in South Bay!

Hala did an amazing job on my hair again! Every time I go there she makes me feel beautiful, I love how she really cares for her clients and really knows what they like:-)

This is a great little salon. I’ve had Keratin treatments, ombré color and stylish cuts here from several stylists. You can’t go wrong with this salon!

This is a wonderful salon! They combine technical and artistic skill with an atmosphere that is stylish and beautifully free of pretension. Xinan is an amazing stylist and an absolutely delightful person, and Joe, who handles the reception desk, could not be nicer or more helpful. Just go, you’ll love it!

Joanne is the best!!! I LOVE my haircut! I had a long hair for forever so I wanted to cut it short. I was a little hesitant at first, but I felt assured after she suggested few styles that would fit my face shape. And it was perfect! Plus, she give the best shampoo and head massage, I almost fell asleep. I’ll be going back to her for highlights. LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT!!!

This was my first time getting my hair cut here and I loved it! Right when I walked in the door everyone welcomed me and there was absolutely no wait time — I had an appointment. It was very clean and relaxed environment. They offered me drinks and everything went great right from the start. Joanne did exactly what I asked for and even provided some great suggestions! She was very attentive and took her time. I am very pleased and will be coming back soon! Make sure you park behind the building (not on PCH).

I love this salon … I have been a client of hala’s for a long time. The salon is so beautiful, modern and chic. Talk about creative hair she always provides you with the cutting edge of new techniques and styles… No football head haircuts here… Hala always listens and understands what you want when you want to change your style, color or cut. I always leave feeling beautiful. What else can I say but it’s the best salon in the South Bay.

Just moved to Torrance and found this salon in my neighborhood! Stephanie did a wonderful job on my color and blow dry. The salon has a great atmosphere and was very reasonably priced. Before she did anything Stephanie went over the prices with me, it’s not something everyone does. I wasn’t on a budget or anything but still it’s nice to know what your ticket is going to be.
She matched my existing color perfectly and we made plans for my highlights next month.
I’m surprised I found my new place on my first try!

I was looking for a local salon and came upon Salon H by Hala. Based on the reviews I made an appointment for cut and color.
I’ve now found my goto Salon and stylist!
Stephanie was the one who did my hair and I’m beyond happy with the results. I love it. From the moment she greeted me, I felt reassured. She was not pushy with any products and in fact told me I didn’t need a haircut (even though I had originally asked for it). She went over the price with me before the treatment (Which is great!).
I showed her pictures of what I like and didn’t like and the end result was more than what I could have imagined. I really like it!
The owner Hala talked to Stephanie at the end to check out her work and I made a point to let Hala know that I really liked it!
Everyone from the lady (Joanne?) who answered the phone when I first called and the guy (oops forgot his name) who handled the bill at the end was friendly and not pushy.
The salon is nicely decorated and has a modern, warm feel.
Price wise I think it was reasonable.
I’m looking forward to going back to see Stephanie as I’ve gotten compliments on my hair color already!

I was a bit nervous coming here since I’ve had various «interesting» experiences at different hair salons around SoCal. Salon H by far gave me the best experience!
My cut was $ 60 with amazing hair wash. Xinan was my stylist and she did such an amazing job. She is really friendly + funny, taught me a lot about hair care, and catered to my preferences in hair styling. After the haircut, my hair was so shiny and soft! My curled and styled hair was great even the day after and I received many compliments :)
All staff were really nice and professional.
I am so pleased, I am definitely coming back :)!

Super friendly here. I’m an amateur when it comes to getting my hair or eyebrows done and they were so helpful and caring. Stephanie is such a sweetheart, just as the other reviews say. I’m currently writing this as I’m waiting to get my hair done and 2 people have already offered refreshments to make my stay more comfortable. I got my eyebrows done a couple of days ago from here and they are looking BOMB. I definitely recommend this place!

After a year of avoiding the dreaded search for a new hair salon, my hair was in desperate need of some love. A friend of mine, and a client of Hala’s, had raved about Hala and Salon H before. However, I, the ever skeptic, resisted for a few months. Finally, I decided to book an appointment for a conditioning treatment and haircut with Hala. The booking process went smoothly. There is an online appointment service where you can book via their website, but I just called the salon and made my appointment. The service is very friendly and thorough.
The Salon is on PCH next to a market. The PCH side is the back entrance, but if you enter the small plaza, you can park and enter through the front of the salon. The salon is beautiful and everyone who works there is very friendly.
On to the important stuff: The hair!
Stephanie does a great job at letting you know exactly what’s going on during the wash and conditioning treatment of your hair. The treatment is also really relaxing– too bad I had to return to work.
Hala is nothing short of amazing. I have never been SO pleased leaving a salon! She takes her time, but it’s soooo worth it. I didn’t bring any photos in or really tell her what kind of hair style I was going for. I just told her that I wanted all the dead, dry, split-​ended hair cut off and a cut that would make curling my hair easy. She showed me how much she’d be cutting off and that told me she’d add layers throughout my hair. I have had this style before, so it was nothing new. She is so thorough with the hair cut though! It came out much better than I had anticipated and looked completely different than all the boring layered haircuts I had received before. She was a real pleasure during the haircut as well. None of that awkward I don’t know you, but we’re spending an hour or two together so I have to talk to you about things you don’t really care about conversations. I CANNOT stress how much I recommend Salon h. While it’s not cheap, it’s not overpriced and it’s more than worth every penny. Why spend $ 60 on a sub-​par haircut that leaves you disappointed until your next appointment when you can spend a few bucks more and feel like a million bucks?

4 months ago was my first time going here and I made a drastic change to my hair from long black hair to short blonde hair — think P! nk (the singer) hairstyle.
I made an appointment with Xinan. She’s a really cool chick. She did it so well that I want to keep my hair short and blonde now.
The place looks prestige but not intimidating. The staff are so down to earth. Very relaxed place. Everyone are so friendly I feel like I’ve known them for years. Been going here for monthly touch ups and trim.
They offer tea, coffee and wine :) They can also accommodate you as early as u want just give them a call.
Love them!

¹²⁄₂₇: I haven’t even been in for my haircut yet but I’m already impressed with the level of customer service. I emailed this salon including photos of how my hair looks now and what I want. Joe called me back shortly after to schedule my haircut and color consultation. (I think I got lucky because there was a last minute opening in her schedule) Joe was so professional and pleasant. I can sort of already feel that I’ll never go anywhere else to get my hair done.
¹²⁄₂₈: I found my new salon and I can see why they’ve been voted south bays best for the past few years. This salon is top knotch, clean professional and Hala is extremely knowledgeable, and friendly. You can really tell that she cares about hair and is an expert at what she does. She gives great recommendations and tips and really has amazing talent. I definitely won’t be going anywhere else. You get what you pay for so if you want your hair too look amazing go to Hala. You’re worth it! I’m really really happy how the cut and style looks and I’m going back in a couple of weeks for color/​higlights.
