Random Treats ~ no not to put this business down because I know nothing about it but I was enticed and amused by the name. Random treats? That sounds like it could literally be almost anything you can imagine. My very special and oddball imagination could conjure infinite delinappropriate things. It sounds like a big hefty bag full of random bits of cake and maybe a small cat figurine that an old lady didn’t want, perhaps some Apoxsee preserved bacon in a cute little vase, or a little Asian girl that got lost and decided that she would like to be addressed as a random treat. The word treat sounds appealing but when you toss the word«Random» into the mix before«Treats» it just Kaina makes it sound like leftover bits and pieces of parties and old farmhouse wife dresses missing buttons. But most of all it sounds like maybe some detached body parts or Rusty cups and irons with both tied to them because obviously when you tie a bow to anything it is automatically considered a treat right? I’m sorry if I’ve offended the business but you kind of asked for it picking this name. I’m just amused by it and I appreciate the fact that it made me laugh. Does anyone else feel like this name is a little bit asking for it?

Sad! Sad! SAD! I hate writing bad reviews. It makes me sad. What saddens me even more is when I pay top dollar for a sad, pathetic sweet treat! Random Treats truck is sad excuse for a gourmet food truck. I ran into this sad truck at the First Friday food truck event in Venice beach. This truck features exactly what it says it does, random treats. They had gourmet rice krispy treats, sweet potato fires, a deep fried PB&J sandwich, some savory sandwich(grilled cheese I think), a few boxes of Nerds and some beverages. Very odd and random menu indeed. However, their large menu of gourmet rice krispies caught my eye. They had about ten of them on their menu but when I went to order, they only had four flavors available. That pissed me off. How can you show up to such a big event(over 40 food trucks and hundreds of people) and not have your full menu available. They hadn’t even been open half an hour so it’s not like they were sold out. They were just under stocked. They didn’t have any of the flavors I wanted but my wife and I didn’t want to leave empty handed. In the end we bought two of their gourmet krispies, one red velvet and one strawberry shortcake. At $ 5 bucks a piece I was praying that they would be the best rice krispy treats I’d ever eat. Nope. Both krispies were stale. They tasted like they were a few days old. The toppings on the strawberry shortcake weren’t bad. The strawberry compote and pieces of strawberry helped hide the fact that the krispy itself was stale and tasteless. The red velvet krispy was horrendous. Stale krispy, sour tasting cream cheese frosting and red velvet cake that tasted like food coloring. AWFUL! The women on the truck were nice but it took almost ten minutes to get our treats… and we were their only customers. What in the world took so long? I know they weren’t making these treats to order. SAD. I’m flabbergasted. How this truck is even in business blows my mind.

Not so great of an experience for a dessert based truck. 20 min for a rice crispy treat isn’t really feasible. Although they did have a small selection of savory sandwiches — makes me think how long it would be for one though. Best advice, try the truck when you’re not quite so hungry.
