This place charged me extra on my credit card too. I left a flat payment but when I reviewed my statement, it was more than I left. Not cool.

My bf and I went for the first time one afternoon. Our bill came close to $ 60. + my bf tipped her 20 bucks in total $ 80.(she sold us a bottle of saki). The next day we found out that they charged an extra $ 10. We went back with a print of the statement and the receipt to show her maybe she input it incorrectly, maybe there was a mistake and would appreciate $ 10 back.. She took a looong time going through receipts. She finally found the original receipt and in her major accent said there was no mistake and blamed it on the bank. She said I need to fax them these papers and said the bank made a mistake she knows bc she use to work at a bank. Then expressed how much she hates bank of america. We don’t even bank with bank of america! I got really annoyed and left. I’m never going back. Does she seriously think i’m going to go through the trouble hanging onto the phone and faxing??? Who else could it be? My bf use to work at a restaurant for 4 yrs. We believe she tipped herself an extra 10. That’s messed up, she already got a $ 20 tip. Whatever now, Never going back.

The experience started with the manager, when my husband and I were entering it, the manager was being extremely rude, yelling at one the waitress. We were sat, and ordered a Asahi beer to a waitress, she did neither spoke English nor Japanese. When the manager came to see us, he asked which beer, we order Asahi and the manger arragantly said they had 11 types, and the restaurant had them all, and kept going on and on. We ordered a couple of skewers, the asparagus was not cut, but the whole stem, the meatball was raw, and then to close the night the manager once more yelled at a waitress in front of our table, and make some jokes with another customers trying to make his point that«being direct with people» is the American style(trying to defend the way he treated the waitress). Overall, the place had negative energy. Food wasn’t good, awful atmosphere. I will not go back. Shin sen gumi in Gardena is 100% better, and the price is the same.

«Hey what do you want to do?» –Me «I don’t know want to get coffee?”-My Friend Alex «No, lets drink!” — Me «Where, there’s no where to drink in this plaza really”-Alex :looks around, sees Japanese restaurant: «OHTHERE! SAKE!!” — Me Don’t feel like being around a bunch of people? Feeling like some Japanese? Sake maybe? In Rolling Hill Plaza and bored to death? Mutsumiya is your spot! I’ve been meaning to try this place for such a long time but I’ve never had the balls to go in because well this place is straight up Japanese, none of this Americanized bullshit. Granted I’ve never been to Japan but from what I’ve seen from pictures & videos this is what I think a Japanese restaurant in Japan would look/feel like. Why? Everyone was speaking Japanese, the menu is in Japanese(with small English translations), and the place is super small and cramped. What I had: –Ordered some appetizers… mostly meat skewers-which I recommend! –Sake sample platter– not much of a sake drinker but I found out which ones I liked/disliked …and then my friend and I got SWINDLED! Here’s how it went down… Waiter: «Hey guys we have some left over raw oysters from tonight, about 10 would you guys like to try them? It’s just half a dish» Alex & I: «Well yeah why not» [[We thought they were on the house]] Chef brings out this 10 piece oyster dish with elegant toppings on it – VERY very delicious – but very expensive looking. We get the check– Me: «WAITWEGOTCHARGEDFORTHEOYSTERS?!» Alex: «What the– whoa» Looks at price(which was around $ 30 bucks) We both agreed that one it was an experience to try raw oysters for the first time and two, they were the most expensive oysters we’ve ever had. Then the waiter comes back and says, «Oh would you guys like to order something else? We have some fine beers…» In unison–«UM, NOTHANKS» Despite the swindling, I really enjoyed the food, atmosphere and experience! Also I think they close at 2 am woohoo!
