Love this place! My Taiwanese boyfriend can’t get enough of JJ Bakery. We come here multiple times a week. Our favorites are the ham and cheese croissant, chicken pie, crème brûlée bun, and the cream bun. Their drinks are amazing too! I recommend jasmine green tea or mango smoothie. Don’t expect your favorites to be available all the time. Their selection is different every time I go, but everything I’ve tried from here is great. The best thing about JJ Bakery is the price. No matter how many goodies I buy I can’t ever seem to spend over $ 20! Most of their items are under $ 2 and are very good sized portions.

Big variety of buns, rolls, tarts, Mochi and cakes. 5 stars for all of the above. Only reason for 1 star knocked off was the refrigerated triangular sandwiches are not tasty and hard to eat because it’s built on 4 layers of bread that cannot be separated due to the layers all filled. Staff and Service VERYNICE and quick. Good place!

First time in the store! I came in for milk teas. The store is clean and organized and I wanted to buy everything! Unfortunately one of the drinks were not closed properly and we didn’t find out until it had leaked all over the pastries and car. When I called to ask for a replacement, the lady gave me a hard time and said we had to come in only today or I wouldn’t be able to get it. It was 30 min before closing and I was tired after a long day of being on an airplane. I only got a reasonable response after showing my frustration. Despite my fatigue I went in and they were pleasant in the store. All in all, great baked goods. Questionable service, but also it is at the end of their day and there was a post in the store about fraud so maybe they’re just really paranoid. *vent done*

Love the smell of freshly baked goodies in the morning when i visit JJ Bakery! I can’t comment on their desert cakes but I’ve tried a variety of their baked buns/danishes with different fillings, like raisins, coconut, taro, red bean. Fresh, doughy and soft, still warm when i pick them up. They go perfectly with the morning coffee or tea. If your are craving for something savory, there are buns with cheese & ham or baked tuna or pork sandwiches. This bakery located in the small strip mall near Starbucks, with plenty of parking.

The bread, cakes, and other baked goods. Have always brought me back time and time again. For lunch, snack, or for an item to bring back to work. Hard to beat

This bakery is right across the street from my wife’s office and I finally walked in to give it a try. This is a Taiwanese bakery so don’t expect a lot of sugar. I tried a mooncake and a milk tea both of which were pretty good. Unlike most places. they blend the ice into their milk tea instead of using cubes.

JJ Bakery is a nice little spot to buy some amazingly tasty and inexpensive food. I picked up three things and they were only around five dollars for all of it. The products I bought were my lunch and desert, as well as a desert for dinner. The cakes were very tempting but they also have many healthier choices available on the racks. If I lived closer, I would stop by all the time! The bakery was so tasty that it left a lasting impression on me. I highly recommend it!

I love this place! I come here all the time to get the ham and cheese buns as well as the cream cheese. I like both the cream cheese pastry and the roll. I’ve had a lot of things and I’ve been pretty satisfied each time. I really like the pastries you can get yourself. I’ve tried a few behind the counter but I don’t remember them so they couldn’t have been that good. Those pastries are priced a little higher as well. The prices on the other items are relatively reasonable. The staff here are friendly as well. If you have questions they are quick to help which is always a good thing. You do have to come early because even though they open late a lot of things are gone by midday. And they don’t seem to remake anything, they just tell you they’re out of it. So get here early! All that aside this is my favorite bakery of its kind in the South Bay. I’ve never gotten anything old, stale or dry and if I have a little extra money I look forward to trying new things. Can’t wait to work up the courage to try a bean pastry!

The green tea Swiss roll was super dry. The wife pastry was also dry we ended up not finishing it. We have had both of these items before at other bakeries and nowhere has it been this dry. I hope we just had bad luck and ended up getting old baked goods. Still they should know what’s old and remove it rather than sell it. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

They have so many great delicious breads and cakes at a reasonable price! My favorites here are the mochi’s, cream puffs and mini chiffon cakes at an average price of $ 3! They also have drinks that are sweet and delicious as well as sandwiches, so just a wide variety of choices! If you come in the mornings however, expect that not all the breads will be available early. However, whenever I want to order the mini chiffon cakes or cream puffs(which come in a box of 6), I’ll usually call ahead or the night before and they’ll have it ready for me when needed.

I have gone to JJ Bakery for years and I have got to say that it is way better than 85°! It is located in the plaza by Lee’s Sandwiches and Starbucks next to Wilson Park. I don’t usually have an issue with the parking here, but I can see that it can get crowded as you go towards the Starbucks side of the plaza. As soon as you enter the shop, grab a tray and tongs and pick up any Asian pastries that your heart desires. I am especially fond of the red bean, taro, and almond pastries — they are so good! You can also find the toast that many restaurants, like Guppy’s, use to make their brick toast! Prices and names of the pastries are marked clearly so you know what you’re getting. Once you’re finished filling up your tray to the point of overflow, get in line towards the cash register against the glass case of more desserts! I have tried their cakes and they are not only very pretty to look at but delicious too, so why not throw one of those in for the ride home? They have small single serving sizes so you won’t look like a fatty! As you get closer to the register, you’ll find that they also have soy and rice milk, pick one of those up too because they are so good! The workers here are all so nice and I have talked to the manager/owner several times and they are all so sweet! Come visit and you will know why I’ve come here for years and would pick this place over 85 in a heartbeat.

What a marvelous and sunny morning today! I am in the mood for some fresh pastries this morning, especially the cream cheese croissant and the almond paste croissant. My friend and I frequent this sweet local to pick up sweet treats and walk a couple stores down to pick up a venti latte from Starbucks. Cheers to good eats and living life fully!!!

I don’t know how my mom found this place, but I know we’ve been coming here for as long as I can remember(wayyyyy before you or I were Unilocaling). Everything looks amazing and smells amazing. It takes an enormous amount of self control to pick up a tray and only place a few pastry items on it. You can’t go wrong with things that have tuna, hot dogs, or pork song, or cream corn in them. There’s such a variety of bready and doughy, flakey and light, and creamy and sweet options that it’s so hard to choose! Personally, it’s mandatory for us to pick up a few curry beef or chicken pastries and a pineapple bun. Then there’s the sponge cake, roll cakes, and cake slices… Oh and I can’t forget to mention that we’ve bought quite a few birthday cakes from JJ’s! And it’s always a crowd pleaser!

I know JJ by heart and I already have my favorites. But I go to the Arcadia branch and was brought here to get a taro cake for work and some random bread/pastries just for indulgence. No crowd. Got them all and left. Ample parking. Nice ladies. Clean. Super good taro bun and everything else are equally made to satisfy us. Better than 85C!

Amazing treats! Tawainese, Asian, Westerners. come one, come all! Many of the pastry names will be a little botched as I’ll try to describe them in English. Pineapple(yellow) crumb bread, egg tarts, egg bread, raisin bread, green tea bread, hot dog bread(soft pillows topped with hot dog slivers)… the list doesn’t end here! Breakfast and lunch are ideal times to visits so you can enjoy hot milk tea or boba. But even during a post dinner desert run the pastries are still fresh. They get a lot of business so everything is super fresh. Prices are not bad either(most things are around $ 1.35). Dont miss this happy place =)

If you are a Taiwanese descent, or have been to Taiwan, you probably would’ve been just as excited as I was when I stumbled upon this bakery near my hotel in Torrence. Taiwanese pasteries, perhaps due to my bias, is one of the best in the WORLD. Why? Taiwan has an extremely competitive food scene, and everything is cheap and delicious compare to America. For instance, it would not be an exaggeration to say that I can have a full course meal for about 10 dollars USD in Taiwan. Yes, $ 10. And we don’t tip in Asia. Now with that said, I was extremely pleased to find a lot of Taiwanese-unique pasteries in this shop. The cake that are featured are also done in such beautiful manner that I could not help but admire them for a few seconds, even minutes, when I get entranced by their beauty. This place also provide bubble tea services. I tried their bubble tea, but only to disappoint myself. Not saying that it’s bad. It’s great for American standard. But it definitely does not live up to the Taiwanese hype the way its pastry did. Overall, pleasant find! Definitely bought a few things for my friends and family in the Midwest ^_^

If you’re looking to fulfill your carb cravings, you’ve come to the right place. I can’t stop coming to this place whenever I’m in the area. I specifically come here for their Mango and Strawberry Mochi! They also have the best pastries and fruit tarts. Unfortunately, today, they did not have any mochi. They said the shipment for the ingredients have not come in. Nevertheless, I still found something sweet to grab. They also have great cakes slices, mocha cake slices and other sweet sensations. The staff are as sweet as their pastries. The bakery is very clean and can get very crowded after lunch. Parking is just up front in the lot, but can be a bit challenging considering they share with a few other establishments.

Excellent alternative option from 85 degrees, if you don’t need brioche. Everything else from the pineapple bread to the white toast loafs are all excellent choices. I don’t think I have tried anything here that I would not try again. Let’s see… pineapple bread, pork sung bread, taiwanese tarts, white toast, wheat toast, custard bread, hot dog bread, and lots more. I have tried a couple of their cakes here, and both times the cakes were moist and not overly sweet. Every visit, I always get either the rice milk or soy milk — very refreshing.

Mochi Cakes. MOCHI Cakes Y’ALL. Get into THIS. I put the blame on Jesse and his obsession. He introduced me to the glorious cake, wrapped in gooey mochi. Once cut into, the buttery, creamy cream awaits and spongy cake with mango or strawberry, even green tea! I’ve had the strawberry and mango and both are extremely delicious. I would recommended eating it fresh and out of the fridge, it keeps its consistency. It’s a rather decadent treat, especially when I don’t eat a lot of dairy. A treat that I will enjoy anytime we hit a JJ Bakery.

JJ Bakery and 85 °C Bakery Café — these two are probably the most well-known Asian bakery franchises in Southern California. Personally, I still prefer 85 °C 75% of the time and JJ Bakery for the other 25%. Differences between JJ and 85°C: Generally, I think the look and taste of 85°C’s breads are definitely more appealing to general public(e.g. mochi egg tart, brioche, marble taro bread, etc). As for JJ’s breads, they don’t look as nice and not everyone can accept«green onion bun», «BBQ pork bread», suncake, walnut/almond cookies, and wife cake(you probably won’t find them in 85°C). Drinks: 85°C’s boba drinks are far more superior than JJ Bakery’s. However, there are two drinks that I would get at JJ Bakery — soy milk and Taiwanese rice milk(two items that 85 °C doesn’t offer). Both are pretty good drinks. Conclusion — expect high quality & delicious walnut/almond cookies, unique breads & Taiwanese pastries selections(pineapple cake, Taiwanese nougat, etc), and friendly staff. If you would like to try slightly different Taiwanese pastries, then I think JJ Bakery is worth a visit.
