Isabel Henderson Library

I know librarians are underpaid. I know they put up with the same crap I do as an adjunct professor. But they are hired to do a job – SO DO IT! When someone needs help, especially a senior citizen, have some compassion and some understanding. And when I ask for the phone number for the Torrance City Hall, I better get it! It just ISN’T THAT HARD TO FIND A PHONE NUMBER. YOU ARE A TORRANCE LIBRARY, AFTER ALL.

I really like this little library. Granted it is small, but the selection is quite good. There are books available in the kids’ section I haven’t seen anywhere else. The audio book collection seems to have grown recently as well, which is great!
The kids’ DVD’s seem to be better taken care of at this location compared to Katy Geissert, where we’ve come home several times with DVD’s so scratched they won’t run.
Anyone with kids loves the location adjacent to the park! What a nice way to spend an afternoon!

Just added a pic I took recently. The newly updated library is still the same size but with improved lighting by upgrading the windows, it is brighter inside now. Also the restrooms got a face-​lift and newer hardwares, plus the library entrance doors are suppose to be less heavy.

Never knew this library existed until I cruised by it yesterday. Actually called the Isabel Henderson Library. Conveniently located next to Victor Park, if you have kids you could easily make a day of taking them to the library and then playing/​barbecuin in the park.
It’s not nearly as big as other libraries like the El Segundo Library or the Redondo Beach Library. But if you live in Torrance it’s also a heckuva lot close-​a plus especially when you commute by bike-​liked the nice bike rack in front too.
They had a decent sized video and cd rental area and what appeared to be some internet stations. If you live nearby in a small apt and want to study in some peace and quiet outside your home this could be a good place for you.
Thos of you who like to volunteer i noticed a teach an adult to read volunteer program being promoted.
