Stopped in here for lunch and was very happy I did! The food takes about 25 min to come out but they warn you on the menu that it’s because they cook everything fresh. The ambiance is hipsterish. They have musicians perform 2 times a week so we might come back for that! We got the Big Ben(pretty savory) and the chicken and waffles, both were really good! We got that and one appetizer and no drinks for $ 38, not too bad for quality food! will be back :)

The food here is just down right damn good. They have great Vegetarian options. I would suggest the Brussels and cauliflower, The Luca Brassi special, and definitely the bread pudding. All very good options

I was super excited to bring my bf to try a new place near his house. Was seated right away on wed night ard 7:45pm. Our host and waitress were super nice and friendly! The restaurant has a nice ambience with several oldie movies being play on different screen through the place. Dim, romantic setting and kind of noisy We ordered the table tartar to start and boy it was delicious! The tuna was fresh and avocado was creamy. Seasoning was just right. Then moving on to the main course: this is where trouble is. Bf ordered the big ben and finished the plate. It was yummy cuz i stole a bite plus the egg lol. I ordered the chicken and waffle. Waffle can use a little less syrup cuz it basically flatten by the chicken when it gets to the table and got soggy. Chicken was crispy and juicy but overall bland. I only ate the drumstick and save the thigh to-go for lunch next day. Trouble start ard midnight! I woke up from extreme thirst and finish an entire bottle in few gulps. Then bf woke up ard 2am with the same thirst and stomache. After he came back to bed, he start having chills and bodyache. None of us got any sleep the rest of the night. I was lucky cuz i only ate a bite of his dish. I only went to the bathroom once and finish 3 bottles of water lol Bf still wasnt feeling well thru out the day. Maybe its the meat? I know i should be smart and not touch the leftover chicken anymore. But i was curious of it really the reason of my dying thirst. So i microwaved my chicken for 3 mins and took a bite… Hmmm there is some pink. 1 more mins into the microwave… cut thru the center there is blood … Oh Man!!! Total of 6 mins on high before a piece of thigh got cook thru… WHATIF I DECIDEDTOATETHATLASTNIGHTINTHEDIMLIGHTING?! I wouldnt be able to tell right? And with some buzzness from the alchy. So 1 star for friendly service 1 star for tuna tartar Bf doesnt want to return anytime soon… sad fat kid here and out If anyone else got sick from here on 6÷15÷16 let me know lol.

Very chill and laid back 80’s themed local restaurant and bar, craft cocktail menu is very impressive for a local eatery, prices are more than fair. We have been here a few times, for drinks and late night snack food. I have tried a very refreshing whiskey cocktail, it was so tasty, the Tito vodka martini was not bad, I just don’t like Tito too much, too bad they don’t carry Grey Goose. For food we have tried Brussel sprouts and spinach pasta as late night snacks after bar hopping. They were quite delicious, although I was a little too drunk to remember exactly how they tasted. A great neighborhood place to eat and drink, will definitely frequent this place!

I got to check out Hey 19 Public House for a party and I was super impressed with all the food. It was comfort food at its finest and everything was so filling. First up I got to try their Hippie Tacos. These are cauliflower tacos. Who would’ve though cauliflower could be so good? This is a great vegetarian small plate. Right after the tacos, it was more food heaven as the servers brought out gigantic plates of some of Hey 19’s popular dishes. The Parnelli’s pot pie was amazing. It had a creamy filling of chicken and peas inside a super crispy puff pastry. This was so savory. Hey 19’s fried chicken was also served and I was impressed with this right from the start. The chicken was hot and crispy when served. It was piping hot and delicious. One of my favorite dishes of the night was Chrissy’s Night Off. This dish has the most tender braised short rib ever. It reminded me of home cooking. It had pee wee potatoes and carrots. Drool worthy and delicious I would order this again. I had previously seen Hey 19 Public House before and I wish I had checked it out then. After getting to try a variety of their dishes at this party, I can’t wait to visit again. Everything I tried was very flavorful and fulfilling. I also was overwhelmed with the portion sizes. They are very generous. This place is a great addition to the South Bay.

Hey 19 sort of confuses me, it’s got that old western vibe but then has trendy/hipster looking dishes and food. It’s a gastropub at best and offers a fairly hearty selection of food and drinks. Price point is up in the $ 15+ range and the food is decent albeit heavy. With many heavy foods, it’s easy to mask the quality of it by pouring sauce or frying it all. Still, I enjoyed the Big Ben in all it’s glory. Mac n cheese and a big beefy patty topped with bacon and a fried egg; in other words, an over-glorified breakfast burger with mac n cheese as the bun instead. The waiters are all very cheerful and enthusiastic as I’d imagine waiters working at gastropubs have to be. Be nice to them because we could always use more compassionate people in the world. Overall, this Hey 19 sits at a moderate rating for me. I don’t have any compelling reason to be back here anytime soon.

Time for an update! Came here this past Saturday with the girls and had a little too much fun. We had some Sculpin while we waited for a table. The bartenders were the best. We should’ve just ate at the bar bc they were a lot of fun. We were waiting for a table and the host said the table was ready, so we got up along with a couple that came in after us and he said, «I’m confused.» So my friend said, «Well, we were here first.» And the guy says that only a table for two is available. So we go back to the bar. Then I see about four open tables and ask are we still getting seated? My friend asks and he says oh a couple minutes… Ok. My friend was annoyed, but it was whatevs. Idk if he assumed we were eating at the bar but whatever. He was nice and all, but prob just confused. Our server was super sweet! I got the grilled cheese with tomato soup(forget the name) and it was bombbbbbb! We also got the bacon wrapped tots which were good as well. Thankfully there wasn’t any band playing so we could actually hear each other talk. After we finished, we headed right back to the bar and then things got a little hazy. I had kinda forgotten about this place since my last visit, so thankfully my roomie suggested it bc we haven’t found a lot of places with Sculpin on tap.

OK I left the wife home for this one because this was a guitar jam workshop for hey 19. The owner is obviously a Steely Dan fan. We liked the jam session in the banquet hall but we all decided to stay and eat too. Two of the group has the chicken pot pies and they looked big and delicious. I had the a burger and it was old school tasty. Fresh made and the shoestring fries were a nice change of pace. I had a huge beer(a porter) and it was the best. It’s a bit pricey here but worth the trip.

Nothing about Hey 19 impressed me at all. We went for a date during dineLA menu, and I almost felt as if they cooked the food on purpose to tell people to stay away! The Mac and cheese was so bland, couldn’t taste a single jalapeño which was confusing because everyone seems to rave about them. There was literally zero taste of the jalapeño. I could probably make packaged Mac and cheese that tastes better. I really love Mac and cheese so I was sorely disappointed. The meat in our entrees were so dry, didn’t really feel like finishing my dish. I’ve never had such horrible food. It was also insanely loud in here, everything seemed to echo off each other! The food also took forever to come out which was strange because their restaurant wasn’t even packed. Maybe it was an off night, but I’m never going back.

Retro 80’s ambiance, mediocre food, and limited draft selection sums up Hey 19 for me. Came here on a Saturday afternoon hoping for some happy hour specials. None to note. They do have a comprehensive craft cocktail menu. Walked in and I wasn’t really sure to make of the ambiance. Western theme? 80’s vibe? New American? Dive? Don’t know… confusing. Our server, Eric, was nice. He seated our party of three in a comfortable area. We ordered the 2Style, Fried Chicken & Waffle, Froo Froo Pasta, and Betty Spaghetti. On one side of the restaurant are two screens with 80’s movies playing without the sound on. Sorta cool. The 2Style is a Mac N Cheese dish with diced jalapenos and bacon. First, not enough bacon and jalapenos. The cheese lacked the expected barn-y flavor. Please tell me it’s not powdered cheese! The shell pastas were cooked properly, but I couldn’t overlook the lack of bacon and jalapenos. 2 stars. The Fried Chicken & Waffle is your standard home-style fried chicken(two pieces, leg and thigh) over ½ waffle. The waffle was dry, but the Cajun flavored syrup helped. Still, even the do-it-yourself waffles at hotel chains tasted better. The fried chicken had a nice crisp batter and the meat was tender. The roasted corn was mediocre and tasted like it came straight from the Green Giant. The bed of kale was pretty good, but then again, my focus is on fried chicken and waffles, so those need to be perfect. Veggies, who cares? 3 stars. The Froo Froo Pasta is basically a shrimp Alfredo with shell pasta. There were ample quantities of shrimp and the pasta was cooked properly, but the goat cheese overpowered the dish. What does Froo Froo mean anyways? 2 stars. The Betty Spaghetti was okay, and I likened it to Macaroni Grill. It’s okay, if you like an overpriced spaghetti. The sauce was a beef and pork bolognese, but I didn’t really taste that expected savoriness. Spaghetti was cooked properly. 2 stars. Overall, it’s a local bar that happens to sell some«OK» food. That’s my impression.

Come here more for the bar and maybe less for the food. SERVICE — five stars! Our waitress kept coming back to check on us to make sure everything was good. She made some good recommendations about drinks, entrees and desserts and seems knowledgable about the menu. FOOD– Big Ben… which is a HEAVY American twist on the Loco Moco(yes i know Hawaii is in America derp). Bacon was perfectly crispy and sue me but normally, I don’t even like bacon that much. Egg was a light over-easy. Pretty standard. Burger patty wasn’t really seasoned and a little plain. Mac & Cheese croquette was more croquette than Mac & Cheese. And all together in a platter with gravy just made me feel a little nauseous, greasy and bloated at the end. None of the flavors complimented each other well. BUT this is probably perfect for drunk Mary. Maker’s Porkchop– it took a little longer to cook but again was a bit inconsistent. The first 1 – 2 bites of the porkchop was perfect with their Maker’s sauce, the last 1 – 2 bites were on the dryer side. The spinach was amazing and I need that recipe but the mashed potatoes was creamy and not in a good way. This is the definition of hole in the wall. It’s located in the corner of a small plaza and it wasn’t for the pretty little ‘open’ sign illuminating, you would have no clue. The décor brings you to a well decorated underground club but without the stench of booze and urine. Especially love the dim lighting with all sorts of rustic chandeliers. I really wish I had the chance to try some of their specialty cocktails because as a bar, this place looks rad. They occassionally have live music so I’ll definitely come back for that. I definitely regret not ordering the tomato bisque and grilled cheese(Living on the edge) because I think it would have been a safer bet for the food.

Been in Torrance for almost 2 years now, and I’ve always wanted to try this place. Don’t be fooled by the outside; it may not look like much, but once you walk in, you’re in for a pleasant surprise. The interior is really nicely decorated, and the overall setting is great for a restaurant. It almost has a western feel to it. I noticed a stage off to the side; I gotta remember to come here when there’s a band playing sometime. Our server was very nice, but we did feel a bit rushed at times, probably because they were closing soon. I ordered the«Meat Your Makers» pork chop. It was a delicious and very beautifully cooked piece of meat. The spinach salad was also great. The mashed potatoes, however, were wayyy too creamy and buttery. Holy hell. Maybe some of you will like it, but it was definitely too much for me. They have a couple of draft beers. I had the DogTown agave blonde. Not the best blonde I’ve had, but it did its job. Overall I’ll definitely be coming back. Next I’ll try their«A Burger».

Bring ear plugs and patience. This place is so close to my house, just had to check it out. Same owner as Ortega 120, my favorite local restaurant. Today, Sunday afternoon, Hey 19 was lively to say the least. It consists of one large-ish room & I counted six TVs, competing with the background rock music. The rustic place looks and smells(of booze) like a sports bar. It’s located in a strip plaza where parking can be a bit tight. NOISY! My goodness I could barely hear myself think. My table faced a raucous crowd seated at one of the big long tables. These folks weren’t talking to each other, they were yelling. Next to me, in a corner, seemed to be the booth where people with little kids were seated. When I arrived there was a parent with small boys who were out of control. Swinging on a handrail, running, jumping, they were. Annoying. When they left, a couple with two boys about the same age took that booth. Night & day difference. Well-behaved kids, what a joy. When one got a little antsy, his mom took him by the hand & walked him around the restaurant, pointing out stuff like fancy light fixtures(the mismatched chandeliers are fabulous) & big screen TVs. Kudos to that mom! That’s how it’s done. Obviously, there was a wait for my food. The menu warns that meat dishes take time. I waited at least 45 minutes for my Niman Ranch pork chop, not a big problem. The problem was that the double-cut chop was tough as shoe leather. My server brought a steak knife(before I asked for one) & still it was a challenge to cut the thing. My fork stuck in it as I worried about pulling out a filling from one of my old lady teeth cuz it was that chewy. Don’t know how they cooked it, but I simmer pork chops & mine are so tender no knife is needed. The sides were great: collards & kale, perfectly seasoned — and — sage & bacon sweet potato mash(white sweet potatoes, not yams). I will probably go back but not for a pork chop. I’ll return because Hey 19’s ingredients are local, non-GMO, hormone-free & mostly organic. The salmon they serve is wild-caught(so we’re not consuming a ton of mercury). The chicken is organic free-range. And yes, there’s a vegetarian menu. As if all that were not enough, my waiter called me Sweetie. Twice. So yeah, although I left this restaurant feeling exhausted from all the noise, rowdy kids, and laborious chewing… I’d like to try the meatloaf. And more of those delicious veggies. I prefer a non-party atmosphere while trying to enjoy a meal, but brave the partiers I will, for pure food. Perhaps additional stars to come, stay tuned.

Hey 19! I’m almost afraid to write this review because I don’t want this place to get too popular. I’m pretty sure that’s how our friend felt when she brought us here for our first time. Location is pretty random, next to a liquor store. Saw that Hey 19 was participating in dineLA so decided to return to this hidden gem. I think their dishes are extremely creative. Not only that, the food actually tastes good. The bread pudding is a must!

We came in on a Saturday night and waited half hour before the 4 of us were seated. The place is very retro, projecting old movies like Pretty in Pink on the screen and putting their menus in old school pee chee folders! The menu was interesting and creative, spinning comfort food favorites into fancier gastropub style versions of themselves. Here goes: Cali flower: Brussels sprouts and cauliflower roasted to perfection, paired with a delicious garlic aioli. Jamie jones — breaded zucchini strips with sun dried tomato strips, paired with spices ranch. There are 5 – 6 pieces of this delicious appetizer. Chicken and waffles– the chicken was tender, the creamed corn was buttery, the collard greens were flavored well. Good solid entrée. Big Ben– this was the motherload of open faced burgers! First goes the crispy Mac and cheese croquette, then the beef patty, then two pieces of crispy bacon, then an over easy egg! We’re glad we shared it, but we wanted more! Magic bar and cherry pie– solid desserts paired well with mascopone cheese. Every dish we had was amazing. Five stars for food quality! However, the service was a bit lackluster. The waiter rarely came by our table and he was not helpful in providing recommendations. The bathrooms were out of order when we came into the restaurant… When our pregnant friend asked what the status was of the restrooms, he simply said we should ask the manager. Not helpful! He should have asked the manager for us! Two stars for service. Anyhow, I’d come back here for the food, but hope I get a different waiter next time.

I came here for dinner with a few friends. The décor is really interesting, kind of like a vintage cool, with menus given in pee-chee folders! Total throwback to my elementary school days! Definitely a unique spot given that it’s in Torrance. Service was great! Our waitress was really friendly! I really wish I could give this place a higher rating but I’m a little torn about the food. I got the Fried chicken and Waffle which came with creamed corn and sautéed kale. The best part was the creamed corn which was tasty! The fried chicken itself was pretty good, but I’ve had better fried chicken. The waffle was bland and disappointing and the kale was just okay. I thought the food was a little overpriced for what it was. Overall, I think this place is fun to try out once and I’m glad I did, but I’m not eager to come back. Parking: free in their lot, located in a random strip mall.

My friends had been raving about this place and they finally brought me over to try it. I was really disappointed. I’ve waited two weeks before leaving a review to think this one over. The service was so good and my friends love it(they come in a lot more often). So I felt so bad that I had a bad experience. That is why I’m giving it 3 stars instead of 2. The place is really cool for Torrance and everyone was very nice. I ordered their«Hey it’s Chicken» and… Hey the chicken was extra dry! And the rice-a-roni was burnt. At first I thought it might have been meant to be crispy rice. But when I checked the menu I found nothing about it being crispy. At some point I attempted to chew it and it felt like I was biting into a rock. To drink I had their cocktail #19. It was okay. Nothing to rave about. I would probably still come back and give it a try again because everyone else in my party was okay with their plates.
