Although Jim did a nice job aerating, dethatching and mulching my front and back yard, the follow up was not nearly as good. When I had originally told him that the reason certain areas of my grass were dying was due to sprinklers that needed adjusting, he assured me that all it needed was aeration and regular fertilizer. So he threw some seed and dirt in the areas where the grass was thin or gone, and after the initial aeration and mulching it started to look better, but the same areas began to die again after about 2 months. I was watering 3x per day as he told me to do for the 1^st few weeks, but the sprinklers were not REACHING those areas. He was literally screaming at me that it was MY fault for not watering! This after I told him the reason it died in the FIRST place was because the sprinklers needed to be adjusted! So I asked him if he could he adjust them and he said he didn’t know how! So he gave me a name of a sprinkler company that he said was great, and 100.00 and 2 visits later from them, those areas look just as bad.
Also, his price quotes kept changing. He initially said he would charge me $ 80.00 monthly to mow, and that would include ONLY mowing, and edging in the front, and nothing else. So I agreed. Then he said later he never agreed to that price, and it was really $ 120 monthly. So after all the money I gave him, which was $ 1250 to aerate, dethatch, mulch and throw some seed around, I have the same 3 areas in my lawn dying again, and this after he refertilized it again, to the tune of $ 40. There was also an area by the side of the house where he was supposed to add new soil and seed where a fence had been removed that he never did. Jim really needs to LISTEN to what his clients are telling him. Anyway, we have parted ways and I have found someone else to care for my lawn who ALSO knows how to adjust sprinklers!

Jim just left my mother-in-law’s house and I could not have asked for a better person to aerate her lawn. I called another company three weeks ago and never heard from them. I called every two days leaving messages and sending emails. No one ever called me back. I looked on Unilocal (like I should have done in the first place) and I found Hendy’s Lawn Care. I could not be happier the other company never called me back. Jim called me back the very next day. He set an appointment to meet at my mother-​in-​laws house, we agreed on a price and he started 5 minutes after he arrived at her house. Wow, is that easy or what?
He is a very, very, very knowledgeable person when it comes to lawn care. And to top it off to be as nice as he is, is a huge plus in my book. He took the time to go over every aspect of what he was doing. The best part is when he cleaned up EVERYTHING. He even cleaned up stuff around her garage that had been there before he got there. Jim is great. I wish there were a way to give him more than just 5 stars.

Hendy’s is not your normal mow and blow Landscaper. He specializes in thatch and aeration. There is a whole science behind thatching and aeration and he knows all about. It will bring back your lawn from the dead and make it brand new again without pulling the old grass and putting sod which ends up dead anyways because nobody uses the right sod. My lawn now looks like a golf course fairway thanks to him and it makes sense. Golf courses thatch and aerate. (the good ones do). Use him if your serious about your lawn and have pride in your home.
