During my year lease living in this building, I came home TWICE to find my apartment had been flooded. Once, from the neighbor next door, backing up their kitchen sink causing that waste and water to force through my kitchen sink and flood my kitchen. The second time was from the upstairs neighbor flooding their kitchen causing a leak through my ceiling. Both times, my property was damaged and my carpet was soiled. Neither time was my carpet cleaned nor was any discount taken off my rent due to the damage to my belongings. Then, once me lease was up and I moved out, the management company did not send the security deposit until after I called to complain that they were legally past the deadline to refund me. Upon receiving my refund check, I noted that they deducted carpet cleaning charges(among other things) from my security deposit. I have tried calling and writing letters to dispute this charge because the carpets needed cleaning after the floods were reported but it never happened, but no one has yet to respond. I should also mention that when I moved in, my bathtub needed to be reglazed, as the glazing already on it was chipping away and was a hazard. It took about a month, a nasty letter from me, before it got done. I highly do not recommend renting from Unified Property Management.
