***Daikichi Mitsuwa offers decent pre-packaged sushi in Torrance’s Mitsuwa market; their sushi is a notch above most fast food and grocery store sushi, but the rice is too cold, which takes away from the sushi here; their recent addition of high quality sushi is a big plus though(their blue fin tuna nigiri was incredibly rich, fatty, moist, and soft)*** Mitsuwa market has its own free parking lot. It is typically easy finding an open space.

I am a frequent customer of Daikichi, and the quality of their sushi is always consistent. They offer a wide variety of sushi rolls, nigiri, and hand roll options, and they deliver polite and accommodating service. The ladies who prepare the sushi are always willing to make a customized box of sushi or make a fresh box for you if you prefer to have your sushi without wasabi. Also, they recently started selling some new items! Daikichi now offers Ramen Salads, Cold Noodles, and Mini Salads. Overall, items are fairly priced. Some of the sashimi options are a little pricey, but you are paying for the quality… raw fish in general tends to be more costly. Some items, however, are discounted after hours… so check for the red discount stickers! Food: — Ramen Salad — These are SO good! Packed in a plastic«shakeable» container, the noodles are topped with lettuce, tomato, sliced egg, and chikuwa(similar to kamaboko). The dressing is also really good! It’s a little salty and tangy at the same time. — Mini Salads — These are great! They have two types, either House Salad or Tofu Salad. Perfect size for an add-on to sushi or a meal, they are only $ 1.99! The House Salad is topped with a wedge of tomato and a couple slices of egg, and the Tofu Salad is topped with cubes of tofu and some nori(seaweed). Lettuce is always crisp, and the dressing is yummy! — Half Salmon and Half Tuna Roll — They don’t always have the half and half option, so sometime I have to have them make a fresh box. Sashimi was fresh, and they give pretty large pieces of fish inside the rice. * Note: You used to be able to pay for the products at the Daikichi counter, but lately they have been putting a sign up that asks you to pay at the Mitsuwa Market registers.

For grocery store sushi, it’s pretty good. Something about their spicy tuna just tastes really good to me. I think it’s because they add Japanese mayo and green onion which gives it more flavor. I’ve gotten their sushi sets before and tbh some pieces of fish are much better than others but because I know they make it fresh everyday I have no worries. They even started adding new items to their selection like poke bowls, salad, and sashimi. I pretty much always grab a spicy tuna, negi toro or salmon skin hand roll to go with my Santouka ramen, they are perfect on the go and as a snack.

Pretty much the only supermarket sushi I get is from here. It’s passable. Definitely much cheaper than eating out, but that doesn’t mean you can’t overspend here either. The only bad thing is sometimes there’s no cashier so you have to get in line at the market register line to pay.

This place is great. We get awesome sushi here and it’s so cheap. And the quality is better than most sushi places in town. I never eat grocery store sushi nor strive for cheap sushi. That’s just crazy. And I know what you are saying, Grocery store sushi can not be great, impossible. They somehow make great sushi. Fish is extremely fresh and bright. I think they do such high volume with Honda and Toyota being just down the road that it’s always fresh. Now the only down side. They do run out. So beware you may show up and not find a huge selection. That has happened to me a few times when I came here a little later in the evening. But that’s ok. Better no sushi than old sushi. We also ordered a huge party platter once with deluxe selection and it was so cheap. It was $ 100 but had a street value of at least $ 500 :) so if you want quick, good and cheap sushi this is your place.

As far as boxed sushi goes, this place is OK. Fresh selections, great ingredients. Later in the day they discount the boxes by a buck or so. Geee, thanks(sarcastic). When I need a quick sushi fix this will work. Nothing outstanding. Also I suggest you say«to go» because if you say«for here» you get charged the local tax rate additionally. Don’t ask me why; just their practice that I noticed.

It was surprisingly good for a supermarket sushi. I wanted to go to Kagura but I had to wait until 5:30 pm since they were closed between 2 – 5:30 pm. It was around 3pm and I needed something to tie me over until dinner. The sushi combos are prety cheap from $ 4.50 for simple maki to $ 15.99 for fancier combos. A lady was marking down the price for 50 cents less when I was there. I got myself a box of unagi tekka chu maki AKA eel and tuna sushi. It was marked down to $ 6.00 from $ 6.50. Wasabi is not included so make sure you ask for it. My sushi combo was tasty and fresh. It’s definitely one of the best supermarket sushi I’ve tried. They control the freshness by marking the container by both the date and time it was prepared. Mine was Dec 815:56 pm. I can’t believe I’ve been avoiding this place for the longest time. Cash only but you can bring it to the market and pay inside. 4 stars! I have a feeling I will be back. Daikichi sushi is yummylicious!

Nice and convenient. BUT they are ALWAYS out of the Spicy Tuna hand rolls at lunchtime and doesn’t seem to get a clue that they are not planning early enough for the demand. Also, there are NOPOLES or ROPEOFFS for the lines ‚…so you have normal business people who courteous stand in line in spite of their limited lunchtime only to have some OLDFOLKS who step right up to the front and stick their purchase in front of the line and get away with it because they are blind, rude or oblivious to social norms or just being polite? To top it off, the staff takes their merchandise and allows them to cut in line thus making this a BIGTURNOFF to people in a hurry to get back to work who have manners and wait in line?

They let you pay inside the supermarket now so that makes a good thing even better.

Stopped by Daikichi Sushi to pick up some sushi. The price was reduced because I went after work, which is around 6 to 630pm. I know it’s almost half a day old and all but expected a pretty decent sushi condering the high rating on Unilocal. However, my sushi was mostly bland. Couldn’t really taste any of the neta(fish) and was left disappointed. Only upside is that it’s discounted at the end of the day and the cashier lady reduces the price even more on occasions. +2 for the customer service. I’ll visit Daikichi Sushi again earlier in the day and review their sushi once more.

This is the best grocery store sushi around. It’s located inside Mitsuwa Market. It’s pretty convenient for picking up a quick meal for the fam when you’re too busy/tired to cook. It’s typically cash only, but if you go in the late afternoon you can score a discount and pay with your credit card at the register.

One word: FRESH! My favorite is the salmon & tuna with avocado. The sashimi is always fresh here! If you do not see a roll you like out in the display case, you can always ask for it to be made to order which is nice! I also like how it is located inside Mitsuwa right by the entrance so I can swoop by real quick during a lunch break. If you come late enough in the day they usually have discounts to get rid of what didnt sell for the day. My only gripe about this place is that you have to ask for soy sauce, wasabi or chopsticks– they just wont give it to you. And when you do ask, they only give you ONE. If you need additional, they charge you. womp womp womp. This place is actually cash only– which also sucks but it keeps the line short. If you need cash there is an ATM around the corner.

I love this place. It’s located in the Mitsuwa Market. I wish Daikichi Mitsuwa was close by. Insteady, I need to drive down 30 miles to get my spicy tuna fix. The last time I was here my spicy tuna roll was made to order since they ran out. Not a bad deal for $ 4.75. Quick and delicious. They’re a bit tight on the soy sauce packets. They provide two packets for every roll and charge extra for more. Next time, I’m buying my own bottle in the market. Cash only.

Really good sushi for a place that sells it in a grocery store. best place to come in the late afternoon when their selling their sushi marked down, be sure to get there early to make sure you get the good pick. Prices are reasonable and comparable to other sushi places. Had to try their Poke Tuna Bowl which was selling for $ 4.99, because Mitsuwa was having an 19th anniversary sale this weekend. it was really yummy, sushi was seasoned nicely and rice had a nice vinegar flavor to it. a great place to go to get fresh sushi and take it home to eat.

Super good sushi! Very fresh, there is something right about the flavor of the rice in this sushi, just cannot always get that taste in Vegas sushi! There were a large selection to choose from, and they had hand rolls too, after picking out some eel, Cali rolls, and some spicy tuna rolls, we sat in the food court and devoured them all! Of course, my bother in law and mother in law helped! This is a wonderful place for fresh sushi, going early, just as they are putting them out, you get to pick up the freshest and beat the lunch rush. Wished this was in Vegas… however, it will always be included in our trips to California, for sure!
