Not typical breakfast stop. Slow and Expensive for a breakfast place and paper plates. Omelette was more of a fried egg, pancakes were huge but flavor was just ok.

Excellent breakfast and service. The eggs were real, the home fries were moist and thoroughly cooked and concept of service is perfect. I am usually feeling ambivalent on any North Shore restaurant but was pleasantly surprised here. It was absolutely made to order and will certainly be my go-to for times I have to trek from Providence! Bravo!

Popped in for a quick supper. Rainy day little dark in there. Ask to use the bathroom got the customers only message which was fine. Asked if they took debit cards, she said yeah okay but I have to charge you the $.50 that they charge me. Which I said was okay. Sandwich was decent, bread was a little bit on the dryside. Not a super warm feeling. They sure could do a lot to be a little friendly.

Great French toast. Deserves the 5 stars above. Only thing I get here. The breakfast sandwiches look solid.

I have been a fan of DBC for many years but not any more. I like to support local businesses but only to a point. For me DBC has priced itself beyond what I am willing to pay for breakfast. Two eggs, bacon, and coffee for $ 10! That’s right $ 10, regardless what the menu may say! In recent years prices have edged up and I willingly paid for local, but not any more.

Just moved to the area and went to try it for breakfast. Seems like nice people who run it but can’t say I’ll be back. It was over-priced for an average meal where you order at the counter, pick it up yourself and your meal is served on a styrofoam plate with plastic utensils. The tables were also dirty and we first sat by the window which when you looked behind the curtain was filled with spider webs and a dead bugs caught in them. I enjoy frequenting the smaller business but unfortunately we won’t be going back here. Too many other places to try that also offer breakfast that hopefully are more reasonably priced and have a better handle on the place.

They have the best Chicken Salad around. All their food is made with love, try the pastrami special, or any of the club sandwiches. Breakfast is top notch as well. When I have to bring clients somewhere for breakfast, brunch, or lunch I go here because I know they won’t be disappointed.

I used to love coming here when I was in the area more often. I recently returned and it seemed like things were a little bit run down… I think this is the second time I have been here and the restroom was not functioning! The food is decent and so is their coffee. It seems like a family place for sure! I do respect the owners because I have seen them working weekend after weekend for years now!

We have been going to Day Break for over 10 years and stop back when back in town. The lunch menu is BYFAR best in the area. A distance second is Choates Pub in Ipswich. Day Break arguably has the best Ruben in New England. It’s a family run business and one of the family is always there to serve you with a smile. They bend over backwards to meet your order in a timely manner. Speaking frankly over 10 years and when I write 10 years I’m talking 2 to 3 times a week. You won’t go wrong with their breakfasts either. I wish Billy(owner) would open a restaurant. Given his commitment to service they would do great. Score Food Quality 4.5(everything is great but omelets need a little help) Service 5 Atmosphere 4 Value 4 Recommend 5 Tier 3

Very yummy food paired with family friendly service and decent prices makes this a local favorite! I love stopping by for breakfast mostly, sometimes lunch, and enjoying the fresh food. They offer everything from quick and simple dishes for people on the run to more elaborate entrees for a nice sit down meal. Friendly, fast, delicious and welcoming!

Worst breakfast experience ever! We ordered one breakfast special and one omelette, two cups of coffee and one bottle of apple juice. It somehow adds up to 38 $! After cleaning the table ourselves, we were sitting there for about one hour without any information on when our food will be ready. Only one lady there taking orders, cleaning up the tables, serving food and she seems to be quite unhappy. Even when we went to ask her after waiting for one hour, she was very reluctant to say anything other than your food was not ready. We usually love to visit small local restaurants because they are charming and people are friendly there. But we are very disappointed this time. By the way, tables are dirty and both restrooms are out of order.

We stopped in and ordered a bacon egg and cheese sandwich. It was very tasty just as we would expect it.

From reading the reviews I don’t think many people«get» the Day Break café. It’s really a breakfast /lunch counter café. Seating(and paper plates) are just a bonus, we can’t review the place as if it were a sit down option. What I do know: — best coffee in town(ice and hot). In fact I work in Beverly and stop here b/c it’s better than options near my office too — nicest people around run the place and genuinely care about the food quality — breakfast sandwiches are AWESOME. I get ham/egg/cheese on a bulkie. — we took 12 people(including kids) here. We managed to get everyone seated. Everyone loved their breakfast. It didn’t break the bank. I have not had lunch here. They do need to offer cheddar as a cheese option. Main St and Daybreak are my two fav Topsfield businesses.

If it’s a tasteless, overly done eggs and bacon breakfast eatery you are looking for… you have found it with this place. None of our usual fare of 2 over easy, home fries, bacon and hash were done to our liking. There was something strange about the taste and texture of the bacon and especially the hash. All this strangeness was served on paper plate with plastic utensils. Now we never look for elegant plating but when we are charged in the higher range for common breakfasts we don’t expect to be served on «paper». The final irritation for us was the coffee… great coffee but not a bottomless cup and it is poured and prepared by counter-staff. Now you can tell them sweet and light .but they never prepare it like we will our own. Is it too much to ask to be able to pour my own… Clean, bright little shop with what we call sub-shop décor. Crowded with locals. Was this crowd because we are way off base in our review or because it may be the only breakfast place in Topsfield? The Breakfast Guys.

I’ve only been here for breakfast, which I think is pretty hard to mess up, but at the same time very difficult to «wow» you. I usually get 2 eggs over easy, bacon, wheat toast, and an extra side of hash. Once I got a western omelet, and it was a bit rubbery, but it’s not like I expected any differently from a place like this. Definitely not the first choice whenever we want to go out for breakfast, but when we’re all sweaty from the gym down the street(North Shore CrossFit), it’s a very convenient option.

Great food, great service. I find myself frequently going to this place on weekends. They have great coffee 9 times out of 10. That 1 time out of 10 isn’t so bad compared to DD. As for the food itself, I usually get breakfast, and it’s always made perfectly. I’ve had their chicken finger sub and turkey club, and both are, for what they are, delicious. They have come to recognize myself and my girlfriend since we go there a lot, and we always are welcomed with a nice hello. I’ve read the previous reviews where they(the servers) are rude, but I just never see it(though, I understand that just because I don’t see it doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen). Either case, I love this place, I hope it never goes away, thus I give it a 5 out of 5.

I was in Topsfield one morning with a hankering for breakfast and Unilocaled this place from my cell phone, but I was sorely disappointed. I ordered poached eggs but got fried eggs, my friend ordered a mushroom and pepper omelet and got a plane cheese omelet. We called the waitress over and explained that we got the wrong food, and she stood there and argued with us about what we had ordered. We sent back the omelet, it took over a half hour to get it back, and the order was still wrong(mushrooms and onions, no peppers). It the end the food was sub par, plus it was served on Styrofoam plates(hot, greasy bacon on Styrofoam is never healthy).

I fed myself and the bigger two of my three spawn here for 20 bucks. That got us — French toast, 3 milks, 2 sides of bacon, 1 side of toast, 2 mini boxes of fruit loops because I am a sucker, 1 bacon and cheese omelette which came with homefries and toast, and a small coffee. Considering all the a la carte stuff ordered, that isn’t too bad. The omelette was good, though the only cheese available was that rubbery-when-melted white American variety. I mean the cheese was white. I’m sure American’s of all colors can appreciate that rubbery bland goodness. Everything is served on paper with plastic utensils, and you order at the counter. It also has a standard greek sub shop menu for lunch. They have some random pastries and donuts too.. and a big platter of what looked like homemade baclava that I was tempted to try.. but didn’t this time. I’m up that way all the time.. .maybe I’ll stop in again for that. There was an odd smell.. kind of old meaty or sour milky. But they were cutting that with these weird little rose scented gel/wick air freshener things on every table — topped with a ring of pink plastic roses. Gee, thanks. A 16X20 portrait of Mother Theresa watched over me as I ate. I felt blessed. Every resident of Topsfield over 65 came in while we were there, and it was all very chatty and homey. And my friend Dave came in, too, and he’s under 40.. .so don’t let it be said that the young and happenin’ crowd doesn’t come here.:) Steve Winwood’s Bring Me a Higher Love was playing. over and over.. .I think their CD was stu stu stu stu stu If I’m in Topsfield again and looking for a quick bite, I’d definitely go back. But it isn’t a place I’d go to especially for.. .anything.

So far, I’ve only had the chicken kabob salad here and it is delicious and reasonably priced, around $ 6. Wait, I’ve also had the fries, which are thin and crispy. Those are good, too. They also do subs, sandwiches, and breakfast items. It always seems to be crowded. However, the women that work there are snooty. I was checking my order to make sure they added feta(because they didn’t a couple of times even though I specified it) and one woman was giving me dirty looks and she asked what I was looking for. So I told her, and in the most derisive vocie she said«It’s on your salad». I told her I had to make sure because last time it wasn’t and I walked out. However, the salads at the House of Pizza are $ 8, so I’d rather go where it’s cheaper, as the salads are equally as good. I work in Topsfield and the Day Break is the closest, besides the pizza place. But the food is good, so check it out.
