Mediocre food, mediocre atmosphere. They once sat a friend and I at a table with two guys we didn’t know since they were so busy instead of waiting for another table to open up. This made for a very uncomfortable night, and I haven’t been back since.

I’ve found that this place is pretty solidly in the middle. I did enjoy their smoked turkey. Their pulled pork and sides are run of the mill. Sauce was poor.

Went here on a recommendation from a co-worker and we were pleasantly surprised. With so many KC bbq joints within an hour drive, we usually don’t get local bbq in Topeka. Now we don’t have to drive so far, we will definitely be coming regularly. The sauce is tangy and delicious, the meat(I had brisket, my son had turkey) is juicy and has a nice smoked flavor. The mashed potatoes and potato salad are homemade.

This is my favorite barbecue spot in town. The food is plentiful(their barbecue sandwiches are HUGE). The meat has a delicious smoke and the barbecue sauce is sweet(I’m a wuss and don’t do the hot sauce). They actually have decent sides(though the fries aren’t great). The interior is cute, but the outside leaves a lot to be desired. Especially the parking! There is simply NOT enough parking for how popular this place is! But at least there’s a drive-thru in case the restaurant is too busy and you need your fix. The service is friendly and helpful.

on my road trip and Unilocaled this place cuz you have to have bbq when traveling through here. since we were in a hurry to get back on the road, we were happy to see it was a walk up and order place. i had pulled pork and hot links, sides for smashed spuds and mac and cheese. by bf had brisket, pulled chicken and hot links, sides of fries and baked beans. the bbq is OUTSTANDING!!! loved it!!! let me tell you, the hot links are hot. but i love hot, so i am good with it. there is extra bbq sauce on the table so that is great! the reason for 4 stars you ask? the smashed spuds are nothing special, and the mac and cheese could use some sprucing up. didnt finish either one. if i lived there, i would go back for sure! i did buy some bbq sauce on the way out. yum! cant wait to use it!

Tasty barbecue shop with drive-through, FTW! I did the large beef and brisket on a bun with fries and a soda. The beef was delicious, the bun is toasted. I do wish there was a bit more BBQ sauce, and their curly fries were not seasoned. Good food though; I’ll be back.

We don’t go out to eat BBQ often because my husband makes it so well at home — which also means our bar of standard is set pretty high. This trip was unplanned and a fall back when we decided we were too chicken to go to a Chinese restaurant in town.(It was 7pm and the parking lot was almost vacant — but that’s another story.) We arrived, and found parking quickly and easily, although they were bustling with business. We went in, and explored the not-too-big, not-too-small menu offerings and decided in short order. He got a sandwich, I got the rib snack. It was a very hot summer day and our appetites just weren’t too big. We ordered(prices were reasonable) and our food was ready shortly after we got our drinks and sat down. It was kinda cramped, but nothing that bothered me too deeply. It’s basically fast food, so I don’t expect a five-star dining environment. What they have is absolutely perfectly adequate and works for the whole BBQ cowboy theme thing going on. Now, the food. I love ribs. It’s the one thing we just don’t do often at home because they are fairly expensive and take a really long time to do right. And these, these were done right. They were super duper tender — fall off the bone — and had a great flavor. The«rib snack» was absolutely plenty of food for a meal too. They came stacked on a bed of curly fries — way more than one needs in a meal — and I shared half with my hubby, since he didn’t get anything with his sandwich. :(I will definitely be ordering this again, on the next visit. I just wish it came with a veggie or the option to put a slightly healthier side with it, like slaw or green beans.

Welp, finally tried out Hog Wild today and can now give you the go ahead to go there and get some really good BBQ in Topeka. Id say they are now second to Lonnie Q’s for BBQ here. I just got the Smokestack sandwich with fries. The sandwich had pulled pork and sausage on it. Both meats were very flavorful and tasty! Even the bun was better and noteworthy compared to others! The price was higher than most fast-food, but probably on par with normal BBQ places. I liked the environment of the place too. It was crowded and could have used more space between tables, but they have to do what they have to do to fit more people I guess. All in all though, Hog Wild is quite freaking good and like I said earlier, you now have my blessing to try them out! So GO. GO and get your tasty BBQ!

When I was ordering nobody looked like they were happy to be there, not very customer friendly. The space it occupies is pretty small. If you aren’t sitting I’m a booth you are scooting costantly to let people though. But the food, THEFOODWASAMAZING. It was ready super fast and was delicious. It is cheaper than most of the BBQ places around here and you get a fantastic meal for the price you pay. Only complaints I have about it is that the employees aren’t very costumer frindly, I understand they proably don’t want to be there but that is your job. Smile.

Topeka doesn’t really have much of anything except some really good spots to eat that don’t require a reservation or are expensive. This place is an excellent spot to get some lunch or dinner. I usually get the brisket & pork meal which comes with two sides. Brisket is tricky. I’ve had it here a few times and its been great every time. Brisket can easily be dry and chewy like beef jerky, ruining the meal. This place has the brisket riddle solved. I’m not sure what sauce they give me but its really tangy. Works great with the fries. With the meal you’ll also get«texas toast». I’ve never had these before but I’ve become a big fan of em’. Lightly buttered toast with BBQ? What’s better than that? They seem to have a crack drive thru brigade already(this place is less than a month old) because I’ve never spent more than a few minutes getting my order.
