I went in about three weeks ago to David’s Bridal for the first time! Quite honestly, I was really nervous because let’s face it, we’ve all heard that every bride should try the David’s bridal experience but it’s never a good one. I strongly disagree. My first appointment was great, I went in secret with a select couple but I wanted to come back with my mother in law and my mom and sister and try on a dress I fell in love with and more. I called ahead to tell them that they had to pretend like I’d never been in there before so my MILs feelings wouldn’t be hurt. They were very accommodating and did very well. Emily was my consultant and she was a doll. When I came back the second time I asked that she be the consultant because she was very sweet and she came in on a day she wasn’t suppose to work just for me and offered to come in tomorrow on her day off if I didn’t find my dress today. She is fairly new there but was also very accommodating and didn’t make me feel uncomfortable at all. The appointments last 1.5 hours on your first one and 1 hour the next time you come back. That’s really the only down fall because it’s hard to try on so many dresses in such a short amount of time but I understand that they do that so the brides do not get overwhelmed. After you try on so many your focus get foggy and you forget and get flustered so I understand. Each time I stayed a little bit longer than we were suppose to but they were very understanding about it and didn’t fuss at us. It helped that there wasn’t really anyone else in the store but still. They could have been jerks but they just wanted me to have a great experience.(Def make an appointment on their slow days at the slower times) Bride to be’s a word of advice!!! First, the first time I came in with two people. I had never tried on dresses before so I tried on every different style so I knew the style I liked. It helped not having so many people there because it was quiet and there wasn’t a lot going on. Today I had 4 and 1 on Skype and it was OVERWHELMING! 5 different opinions and everyone running around crazy. So I am THANKFUL that the first time I came in it was more relaxing. Today when I went everyone wanted me to try on this and this and that and that. I knew from my FIRST appointment that I liked the A Line styles the BEST so when I came back in I knew what styles I wanted to try rather than wasting the appointment time trying on styles that I didn’t like. So I tried on the styles my mothers wanted me to, to make them happy. At the end of the appointment I was getting tired and asked if I could look around myself. I found a dress and said this is the one; tried it on, and everything was perfect. If you’ve seen«Say Yes To The Dress» you know 90% of the times the brides start crying and having a super emotional moment. That doesn’t happen so if you find a dress you love but aren’t in tears, don’t let that stop you from getting it. PLEASE! I was so hesitant because I didn’t have that moment and then I realized that you don’t have to have that moment to completely love a dress. The prices are affordable and even the cheaper dresses are awesome. If you find a dress you’re iffy on, let them doll you up with a Veil and jewelry, it’ll really help pull the look together in a different way. Overall I had a great experience. Only bad thing is that if the place was busy I know that the time crunch would have stressed me out and I may not have gotten that little extra time to find the dress I found today and driving an hour to come back just felt exhausting. It’s a great place to start and keep an open mind. Don’t go in there thinking you’ll have a bad experience, just have fun, fall in love and get a dress that makes you feel like the beautiful queen you are. Congrats to all the future brides out there, and thank you Emily for being so kind and understanding and wonderful today. :) EDIT: I went back on Friday to pick up my dress. When I originally got it I didn’t want to buy a corset and skirt because I wanted to make sure I got something very comfortable and the corsets I had tried on there weren’t very comfortable. The manager asked me if I was planning to buy the corset and skirt and I said that I didn’t know yet. She said well you will try on your dress without them then. I was very upset. I asked the gal who helped me if I could please try it on with a corset after I first tried it on without one and it didn’t even feel like the same dress which she let me,(still didn’t have the skirt) but I really felt sad that buying the dress wasn’t enough and that I had to buy every single thing there to be treated right. Will this stop me from going in again? No. But I was really disappointed in the manager for that.

I went here with my sister-in-law, she demanded we gals go check out gowns since we were all in the same state for once! I was leery of the store, but was soon put at ease. The women helping us found me just the perfect gown, I really had tears in my eyes! Then not only was it on sale, but they honored the further sale price listed on Davids Bridal website! I got the perfect gown, rang the bell, and left feeling special. Thanks to the whole team!(and my in charge, awesome sister in law)

I bought a dress for $ 99, which is the price they always advertise. The selection for this price is horrible. They refused to let me try on or buy a dress without filling out their registration form. I checked the box that stated I did not want to be contacted. I have received emails and they even sold my phone number. I received a phone call from a Mary Kay representative who said she got my information from David’s Bridal. When I went to pick up my dress it was not cleaned as promised and was wrinkled. The woman told me that is what I get for buying a cheap dress and I should just deal with it. The only bright side was the person who helped me try on the dress as she was very nice. Otherwise this was a horrible experience!!! I have filed a complaint with the Kansas Attorney General based on the invasion of privacy.

Reminded me of Wal-Mart on Saturday. Our consutlant was pleasant, but she was double booked and unable to keep up. We had no viewing station, so we had two chairs set up for us, in the main hallway that lead to the bathrooms. Any pictures I tried to take had to wait for the foot traffic to clear. We had to wait an average of 15 minutes between dresses. While we waited, we were entertained by Topeka’s finest. I know exactly what happened at the local bar scene the night before, in detail. And why on earth would you allow your guests to bring their unruly children to a bridal salon? We tried to make the best of the situation, but it was not a good experience. I can’t reccommend David’s Bridal in Topeka, KS.
