Very pleased with this restaurant. The food was amazing the only problem was my waitress sucked. Not friendly at all. Maybe she was just having a bad day.

A great place to have a few drinks, however the service in the restaurant leaves something to be desired. Excited to try there so called famous mac n cheese, some friends and I decided to give it a go. We had a decent size party of 8, and there were only a few other tables filled. Food was very slow to come out, and when it did mine was wrong. The waitress all but accused me of ordering the wrong thing. Nope… I know what I ordered, and what you brought me is something I would never eat. Not only was it the wrong mac n cheese, but it was the wrong size. She seemed put off that I didn’t want it, and advised she could get me the right thing but it would take awhile. The only reason they get 2 stars from me is because I tried some of the other food that was brought to my table and it seemd pretty good. Service is everything people…

If I could do a 3.5 I would. Let’s start with the Mac and cheese, obviously amazing! There are a handful of different kinds to choose from. My favorite is the original, I’ve had the buffalo, lobster and beef and I always go back to original. They have a burger with peanut butter on it that I’m dying to try so that’s certainly on my list for next time! I have had the fish fry as well and I don’t recommend it at all! The Mac salad and slaw were both so tasteless. Not worth your money don’t bother. Atmosphere is great, it’s pretty big and they have an outdoor area, lots of TVs as well. The bar area is also large there are tables in that area to sit at. Overall this place is good but the fish fry just completely disappointed me.

I am extremely confused as to why Mooney’s only has a two-star rating on Unilocal.I would argue that all of Buffalo’s Mooney’s locations serve some of the best comfort food in the city. Everything is homemade and delicious! I usually go to the location on Military, however, I found myself at this location with a large group of friends after fireworks on 4th of July. Although I didn’t like the atmosphere/decorations of this location nearly as much as the restaurant on Military, I still enjoyed myself! This location is more of a dive bar feel. There aren’t really any fun statues or decorations like the one on Military. One Unilocaler described this bar as «very dated» and I have to agree. The bathroom facilities could also use some cleaning and improvement. On the plus side, the bartender and manager were extremely friendly and accommodating. We drank a few pitchers of beer and played a few rounds of darts. At the end of the night, we asked if we could order food. The bartender was happy to bring us full menus, as opposed to the usual«Late Night Menu» that most bars serve after 10:00 p.m. I ordered my favorite, «The BOMB Mac n Cheese,» which is mozzarella mac n cheese with steak and diced bits of stuffed banana peppers. It was perfect, as always. My friends also loved their chicken fingers, wings and sandwiches. I wouldn’t ever recommend going to this Mooney’s location for a romantic dinner date or even a night out(It never seems to be busy), but the employees are nice and the food is just as good as the other Mooney’s locations!

Food was good. Regular size mac and cheese is huge. I got the Kenny Pow and was good if a little on the salty side. Stomach was killing me later on that evening though. The waitress was so so and seemed like she didn’t want to be there. The men’s restroom was absolutely disgusting. The 2 urinals are literally a few inches apart. No way 2 guys can stand side by side without rubbing thighs. The 2 stalls were filthy. One toilet seat had crap on it and the other had sticky looking red substance. Mirrors were filthy. Ceiling was maybe 4 inches above my head and I am 5 foot 10 inches. The restroom is located in the basement and not handicap accessible. I may check out the one on Military Rd. Too disgusted to return to this location.

Very very rude service. Our waitress Bonnie was very rude and didn’t even check up on us once besides to give us our bill. I’ll never be going back to this location. She was one of the rudest waitresses I’ve ever come in contact with. And when we asked her to simply split the bill she rolled her eyes! You don’t like you’re job then quit!

We were in on a late Tuesday evening. Six of us. The staff was very nice, the service was great! Drinks and food came out very timely and the Mac and cheese was awesome! If I’m ever back in Tonawanda, I’ll be back.

Awful, food was decent. Waitress was rude!!! I’ve been server for years and I’m a firm tipping believer. I wanted to leave her nothing. Empty drinks that just sat there. She had a horrible puss on her face the entire time and was very cut and dry with our table. Just awful. Wanted to ask for the manager but as it turned out she was the manager so needless to say I will never be going back. If you are craving Mooney’s go to the one on Military way better food and pleasant managers and waitresses

My love of Mooney’s is causing me to feel irked at this bar’s 2-star rating. Mooney’s is a divey sports bar. It’s not a) fine dining b) an upscale club or c) a prime destination to woo the woman you met at the country club. But if you’re looking for great food, fast service, warm company, and a little bit of trash at the front door, you found the right place. If you go to Mooney’s and order anything other than the mac and cheese, you’ve made a major life mistake. A «side» runs about $ 9, but provides enough food for at least one more meal once you leave. The stinger mac is delicious(Philly steak and cut up chicken fingers), but so is the lobster mac, three pigs, and every other option. Portions run big across the board. The cheese fries are a great option for sharing. They’re one of the only places I know that layers the cheese into the fries, so you don’t enter the heart of your fry volcano and find dryness. Ignore the low ratings and trust me: there are far worse places to end up on a Friday night than at one of Mooney’s three locations.

I love this Mooney’s compared to the one on Military. The food is great, staff is friendly, atmosphere is cozy, and service is quick. We waited for over and hour for our food at the other location. No matter what I have ordered at Niagara Street it has been good.

We visited here last night(a Tuesday evening). It was our second visit. First, there was trash around the front door. A McDonalds bag and cup, and some cigarette butts. Not a great first impression. The Hostess was wearing THE skinniest skinny jeans I’ve ever seen, leaving not a thing to the imagination. Not to be gross, but there was definitely a glimpse of a certain desert animal’s hoof… We asked for a booth. The place was nearly empty, and she said«well, we normally reserve the booths for larger parties» and seated us at a table. The waitress(who was dressed like she was cleaning her home, not working in a restaurant) asked for drink orders. I asked my husband if he was having a beer, he answered me, and then I ordered a water. The waitress looked at my husband and said«what do you want?». Not ‘and for you?’, or ‘Sir, something to drink?’. «What do you want?». So he orders his drink and we are to read the menu. There was no music playing, no volume on the games on TV, nothing. The place was really uncomfortably silent. We read our menus and decide what to order. I order the roast beef slider/5 chicken wing special, my husband orders just a plain burger, and we get a small order of fries to share. Keep in mind, the place is practically empty. Our dinners took about 15 minutes to arrive, which wasn’t too bad. The burger was passable. A real burger — not a patty — decently cooked, served on a toasted bun so that the bread didn’t get soggy. All in all, his meal wasn’t too bad. Mine, on the other hand, was not good. The buns for the sliders were toasted, which I prefer. However they started out stale so it was really, really tough to bite through. Add the stringy roast beef to the middle and I was able to eat half a bite from each slider before giving up the ghost. The wings had a good flavor, but they were HARD. So hard the skin felt sharp. The bleu cheese dip was this odd greyish color. I have no idea what they put in it, but it didn’t look like any bleu cheese I’ve ever seen, so I skipped it. I was supposed to receive celery as well, but got a pickle instead. The fries were not well cooked. They appeared to be hand cut, but they were thin and limp and not salted at all. Yet they brought us a giant basket, which is supposed to be a ‘small’ order. The waitress cleared our plates, noticed that my sliders each had a bite out of them, but never asked if there was a problem. She came back with the check and left so quickly we didn’t have a chance to have her take it right away. We sat and waited for her to return, while she stood at the bar and checked Facebook on her phone. Finally the bartender(manager? Hard to tell because he was dressed in shorts, t-shirt and sneakers) noticed we were looking over repeatedly and had her come and take the check. The place was clean but we got the distinct impression that the owner never visits the place because everything was done in a very lazy manner. Other than the bartender/manager?/busser?, who was hustling the entire time, the staff made us feel like were a giant pain in their collective asses. With several other pub/restaurants within a 2 mile radius, it’s safe to say that we won’t be back to Mooney’s. There are others nearby doing the same thing but better.

We’ve been to Mooney’s on Military and enjoyed the food & service. We had a voucher from Super Savings 7 for their Niagara Street location. I understand that while it had expired, it was still valid for the purchase price instead of the full face value. Immediately, our server said it was no longer valid. I explained that I wasn’t expecting them to value it at the face value, but the lesser value as stated on the voucher. It seemed like service went downhill from there. In the past, I had had the blooming onion at Mooney’s on Military, and at this one they had Onion Petals. I tried asking if the onion petals were freshly made or frozen, and the waitress was too busy saying they hadn’t carried the blooming onion for over 4 years. I’m not sure if our server was just having a rough day, but she did nothing to make our experience a pleasurable one. I never got an answer on the onion petals, so declined to order an appetizer. My husband ordered the stuffed hot peppers which were quite tasty. For the main course he ordered the Mexican burger, which for the price was not too good. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich which was OK … nothing special … but OK. Overall, I would not recommend this place. They did honor the voucher. However, I do not enjoy going out for dinner and being made to feel as though I should be grateful to be served. I spent most of our meal trying to rein in my husband who was getting irritated by our server’s attitude. Overall, this was a negative experience.

After reading all the wonderful reviews on the mac and cheese Mooney’s earned a bookmark from me many months ago. Unfortunately I was unable to give the place a try until recently. First, please understand Mooney’s is very dated. Upon entering you are transported back to 1981. Carpeted floors, old décor, old tables, old chairs, etc. Nothing here is fresh. There’s even an old pay phone booth in the dining room. Now that we’ve established that you won’t be taking a date here anytime soon, let’s move onto the food. I ordered the full serving of the Cheese Steak Mac and Cheese. This is their standard gourmet mac and cheese served with chopped steak, onions, peppers and pinko bread crumbs. So good! The macaroni was cooked perfectly. The cheese, and condiments were all perfect proportioned. The wife ordered the Lobster Mac and Cheese. Fantastic! Nice portions of lobster. Perfect flavor. The cheese seemed a bit different. More creamy. Thankfully I was able to steal some bites. My son had chicken tenders from the kids menu. Nothing special. Typical kids menu quality. Before I forget, the portion sizes here are HUGE. We ordered full servings with the intention of having leftovers. Most people will likely get full from the half potion. Consider your desire for leftovers before ordering. Full or half, the prices are very reasonable considering the quality of the food. The service here was good considering how busy it was. At times getting drink refills was a bit difficult but I’m going to give some leeway considering how busy it was(Friday at 6pm). Bonus points to the hostess for setting up a highchair prior to sitting us. All the parents out there understand how frustrating it can be holding a young child at a table while waiting for a high chair. It’s the little things like this that create a positive experience. Beer selection? Blah. Pairs well with the décor. Mega breweries on draft along with Flying Bison Rusty Chain. Just not a place for beer lovers. Don’t bother. So, I’ve knocked the décor and the beer. Service was OK. 4 stars? Heck yeah. The Mac and cheese is that good. Come here with the right expectations and you’ll be happy.

I’m not sure where to begin. It was a Monday night, my boyfriend and I were the only table in there except one other table who was finishing up their food. We ordered a soda and ice tea. My boyfriends ice tea, was terrible and tasted like garlic? Very strange, the only thing I could think of was the cup was dirty or must have been sitting near garlic. We told our server and she was good about bringing us a new one but threw in a comment when she dropped it off saying«this was just freshly brewed today it should be good». Anyways we ordered a sandwhich and a salad(remember we are the only table in there who’s ordering food, a couple other tables came in slowly but our food orders were already in) it took over 30 mins to receive our food. I’ve been a server for years and i know for a fact it doesn’t take that long to make a sandwich and a salad which by the way was awful. I know it’s basically just lettuce but it was dry and tomatoes was shriveled and my chicken came out luke warm because it was sitting for so long. There is no excuse for our food taking that long when we were basically the only table in there. Hopefully they can get it together.

I ordered fish frys to go the other night, and they were the worst fish fries we’ve ever had. It was total grease; the fish was mushy and almost raw inside and the fries were just greasy lumps, undercooked but dark brown as though the oil needed changing. It was just thrown together in the styrofoam container.

Mooney’s has three locations in Buffalo and they are all stellar if you’re looking for delicious pub food. This one in Tonawanda is probably the most low-key of them all. No huge statues of St. Paddy’s elves«mooning you» like the Military/Sheridan location, but you can be sure that the bar food is just as delightful and delicious. The environment is good for gathering of larger groups. Plenty of booths for seating and a large open bar area that reeks of old beer. Kind of a dive, but with some delightful food gems: Wings, burgers, grilled cheeses… and Mac & Cheese. Including their coveted lobster mac, which goes for about $ 13 for a full serving(and it can seriously feed like 4 people!). The wings are pretty good too. They use a wet butter/hot sauce rub. Lots of flavor. I’ve only had the hot here, but their Honey Mustard /BBQ(Gold Sauce, I think it’s called) is really popular as well. When we dined in late last night yesterday, our waitress was super friendly. I only had the french onion soup since I wasn’t too hungry, but stole some wings from my friend. Delicious. Their ½lb burgers look pretty good too, but I haven’t tried yet. Next time!
