Bob Kislin’s Outdoor Sports

Good place for getting sporting goods as an alternative to the mall or other specialty shop.
Staff is ok but could use a couple shots of energy drinks as they look really bored. :)

It’s hard to imagine a shop staffed with more disaffected and disinterested people. Well, perhaps not in the world after a Zombie Apocalypse, but even then, someone behind the counter would likely want to eat your brain. As much as I like to be left alone while I make my selections, I do also like to feel that there is someone else in the store, and that I haven’t stumbled in after hours, the silent alarm blinking ominously in some distant monitoring station, police ready to pounce as I exit. I suppose Bob Kislin’s must have a hidden and dedicated customer base, because something has to be keeping them in business. Unless they’re selling something illicit by the kilo out of the back door, that is, which would actually explain a lot about their level of concern for the retail bit.
If I were in the market for a kayak or a rifle, I would certainly hit up Kislin’s. Reason? I actually don’t know of anywhere else in the area to buy those things. Undoubtedly, what would happen is that I would walk in, pocket weighed down by a large roll of bills, poke around for a few minutes, feel ignored and uncomfortable, and then leave having decided that I needed neither a kayak nor a rifle. And I would ultimately be correct, having been saved from a useless impulse purchase by the simple and considerate unwillingness of a local merchant to enable me. Thanks, Kislin’s! Let no one say that you don’t have the best interest of your customers at heart.
Oh, and in addition to all of that, I somehow managed to get someone to sell me a pair of binoculars there a few years back. I got them home, discovered the lens caps were missing from the box, and went back to the store. The salesperson inferred that I was trying to scam them out of extra lens caps, and basically told me to buzz off. Kislin’s for the resounding win.
