Ron’s Hamburgers & Chili

If you are craving a this is the place to come. And… the chili cheese fries are deeelisious. Everything was great and the prices are great also. If you leave here hungry, then it’s your own fault.

Ambiance and Décor were plain, signage outside was forgettable. Burgers and fries were nothing special. I would rather have had In & Out. Burgers were so thin they could only have cooked well done. Fries were very salty. The was place was just overall boring. I was shocked to find out that it had been open for 4 years and counting.

A great burger and fast courteous service. Don’t know what else you can ask for. Burger was hot and fresh off grill. Fries are substantial and well seasoned. Top with their house seasoning blend. It’s a nice burger joint. Recommend highly.

Family meal — 2 seniors, 2 adults, 2 teens.
The 2 teens got us on to Ron’s. Great service; food very good. We’ll be back.

A good solid diner burger. I admit the burgers are thin, so if you want some thick patty with fancy toppings this is not the place. The buns are fresh and amazing. They are white, fluffy and a great throwback to good hamburger buns! If you are super hungry I would get the double jumbo to double the meat in jumbo size. If you are a normal person the normal size is sufficient. The fries are good and I like that you can also get onion rings or tater tots; the half order is enough for two. I like that they serve the burgers Texas style with mustard and not mayo. I want to try the chili, but I am waiting for cooler weather. I am not big on chili burgers or I would get theirs covered in Chili, but I want to try the chili before I take that step. Also the staff are nice and keep checking on you. I think I had the owners’ son once and he gave good suggestions on the menu.

Yummy hamburgers. I love the sausage cheeseburger. One of the best homemade hamburgers I have ever had. Keep doing what you guys are doing.

The fries here are awesome, but the star is their BURGER. I had a burger with cheese inside of the burger, on top of the burger… basically, cheese everywhere. I’m a huge fan of cheese, and this burger did not disappoint. The meat was cooked exactly to my liking, and the cheddar cheese made this burger over the top, amazing. Customer service was excellent, the owners clearly make sure to hire friendly and well trained staff. I will be back again and again. I’ll try to branch out and try other things, but the burger with cheese in it is going to tempt me every time.

I went here the other day. It’s a little out of my way but I was passing through so I had to stop by, I had been there before. Last time I dined in & it was a good experience, however I do have to agree that counter service would have been better. I had take-​out this time and got the Big Daddy. It was, like before, so perfect and yummy. I like how the patty extends well past the bread cause I like to eat just the meat and cheese. I got a half order of the fries, and do regret not getting the cheese. Everything is better with cheese! I paid 10.49 for the burger and fries, I expected it to come out a lot cheaper. I have yet to defer from the burger side but I absolutely need to try the chili! My friend and I discovered this hotspot after a driving home from a week in Cypress and always say, «mmmm we want some Rons!»

My visit here started off with so much potential, but it ended with just a salty taste in my mouth. I had been eyeing this small casual restaurant for nearly a year and one day I decided to make the trek and visit.
I came during dinner and found it was table service, which is a bit surprising for these types of restaurants in strip centers. Usually they have you order at a counter.
The menu states they make several items homemade, including: homemade chili, vanilla ice cream, coleslaw, and fresh cut fries. They have several types of burgers, ranging in size from ¹⁄₅ lb to 1 lb (a double ½ lb burger). They also have a few variations of smothered hamburger steaks, which isn’t common to Houston area restaurants. Most places may just have 1, if at all.
My order was simple and consisted of a big daddy burger, chili cheese fries and a water.
I requested the patty cooked medium rare but it is so thin, that’s hard to pull off, even though these are seemingly fresh patties, just pounded VERY thin. The buns are pretty small and puffy, but since the patties are so flattened, they extend well beyond the edges all the way around the bun. I requested cheddar instead of American, but they indicated they were out of cheddar until tomorrow.
The burger was alright, almost reminded me of a wendys burger, but not as thick, and not quite as good and didn’t have the wendys grease taste either. The fries were good by themselves, but the cheese on top was strange tasting, almost like a shredded processed cheese, which was the same cheese on the burger. The chili was the item I was most looking forward to, but it was very salty. I had a hard time locating any of their «real bacon bits» within the chili, I maybe saw 2 or 3.
Overall, service was attentive, but I still feel this casual burger spot should be counter service. They even have a fountain drink machine, so it could be converted to one easily. I don’t like how they force you to have a server.
The food was alright, but I probably won’t be coming back for a 2^nd visit anytime soon. It was good to try though, since there are not many chili restaurants in the Houston area… like in other states. Just please lay off on the salt next time!

Great diner joint!
This is our first visit here and had lunch with friends. We sampled a few items on their everyday menu. They have daily specials and off menu items posted near the door.
The service is great. The waitress is friendly, smiling, and punctual.
The place is clean and it stayed busy the whole time we were there.

Big Daddy Burger — these are thin wide burgers, all hand formed, and crispy edges. The toppings are on the bottom, really my only complaint. Great size and you can get a double. This isn’t a gourmet burger, this is your diner style burger when you crave a no frills, no fuss burger.
Chili– got a small bowl with onions and cheese. Decent chili reminded me of wolf brand but not as greasy. They have a huge bowl of crackers that sit on the table.
Onion rings — beer battered, thick coating with good amount of crunch. Perfectly cooked. Hint — dip in chili.
Chicken and jalapeño bites — hands down our favorite. Chicken bites were good size chunks served with bottle cap jalapeños. You get choice of dipping sauce. I chose honey mustard and white gravy. The chicken is moist with enough coating to add crunch and texture. I love the spiciness the jalapeños add. Better than any chicken nuggets or tenders anywhere. I know the burgers look yummy, but trust me pass on those and get this.

Delicious. Best hamburger I’ve had so far in the Houston area. Fresh cut fries, fresh tasting burgers. Loved the soft buns and toppings too. I got the jumbo hamburger and my fiancé got the jumbo bacon cheeseburger. He agrees that it was the best burger we’ve had. Our son had the chicken tenders and loved the fries. Service was fast and friendly and reasonable prices. This will be our new favorite burger joint :)

You lost a star for serving that chili/​spaghetti concoction. Take that mess back to Oklahoma.

The burgers here are awesome. Thin patties a la Wendy’s style. My favorite is the Ron Special. The French fries are fresh cut and delicious. The staff is polite and the owner is always there making sure things are done right.

The best chilly ever. I go there any time I get a chilly attack. The hamburgers are huge and don’t cost a lot. I took my family there today, seven people, and spent less than $ 80.00. If you are hungary that’s the place to go.

First time at Rons Burgers. Service was fast at 7pm. We got chili cheese fries, double jumbo bacon cheese burger, & a double jumbo Rons specail. All to go. You BEST be really hungry or split a double jumbo with a loved one. The burger pattys were actually bigger than the normal size bun. I like this.
Overall very good burgers, I will eat there again.

¹⁄₅ burger and small order of fries even without soda was so filling! Had no room for dessert and that’s unusual for me. It was hot and fresh and good. Waitstaff was friendly and on top of their game. Tried the fried okra – only thing I wasn’t excited about – not fried quite long enough for my taste. Solidly good place. Will return

Chili sausage cheeseburger. Yummy

I ate the regular hamburger, nothing fancy at all, but it had a clean, fresh taste with the lettuce, tomatoes and mustard (no mayo) – «the everything» on it. I also shared a half order of the fries, which desperately needed some salt, so I sprinkled some of Ron’s special recipe seasoned salt and what a difference!
The bun on the burger was super soft and fresh.
I also tried a bite of the sausage/​hamburger burger (one of the members of our party ordered that). It had a strong sausage taste (think breakfast sausage). If you are hungry, there are definitely a lot of options for anyone needing to expand the waistline. Mine was just right for lunch.

Tried this place out after a drs appt. I was starving. I asked receptionist wheres a good place and she said ‘Oh yes Rons!” I’d seen reviews on Unilocal so that confirmed my decision. its in a shopping center. Dont know why directions on Unilocal had me on wild goose chase. Its near Ross! Ok. I had the Combo… my waitress was very nice! Service with a Smile! My burger was like Homemade! Loved the toasty buttery bun. Tater tots. Fast Service! Definitely be back!

I can’t even begin to describe how good the chili is, the tater tots, the fried okra, onion rings, even the grilled chicken salad is darn tasty, I wish it wasn’t so unhealthy or I would be eating here more often.
We love the sausage burger with chili, the tater tots with chili, the spanish okra is out of this world good, even just a good olé bowl of chili.
Oh but my FAVORITE menu item is the chili mac, coming from the North you can’t find that just anywhere but boy is it good, loaded with cheese, so melty and gooey and delicious, omg, you must try this, you need this in your life!
