we had an anxious puppy that grew into an anxious and whimpering dog — barking at nothing jumping on guests, outsized reactions to our comings and goings and a doorbell response that went on and on.
after years of this i finally hit a wall and called bethany. the results were nothing short of amazing. with very little effort and beginning with the very first session our dog was changed.
she is now relaxed and casual when we come and go – has a one or two note half-​bark with the doorbell and then calms down immediately, and best of all, no jumping!
it’s now a pleasure to have guests and random deliveries — and, most importantly (not really :-) the dog is so much happier now that she understands who is in charge and responsible…

Bethany was extremely generous to me in her time and advice, even though I live outside of the region and contacted her through email. Her videos on YouTube are awesome (finally, so many questions answered before I can even ask them!), and demonstrate what I think is the perfect balance of positive reinforcement and occasional corrections.
Bethany let me know that my puppy’s bad behavior was a result of my smothering her :) Not something a new pet parent wants to hear, but a little tough love with me went a long way. I followed her suggestion of giving my pup a break for a few days, ignoring her except for structured exercise, playtime, and feeding, and took her advise on how to deal with my puppy’s snarls. We also worked on crating, drop it and place. A couple of weeks later, my relationship with my pup is so improved! We’re both happier. Thanks Bethany, you know your stuff!

We decided to foster a 9 week old puppy. He was just too cute to let go :) so we kept him. He had the tendency to bite, not just because he was a pup teething, but he was a little aggressive.
We heard about Bethany and Dogercise Dog Training LA from volunteering at Pet Orphans. We had her come to our house for private training. She explained the dynamic between Comet (the pup) and our other dogs. We worked on him individually and also with the pack. Bethany and Maxine are not just about the «training.» They are acutely aware of the surroundings and how everyone interacts. They work with all the dynamics and how to achieve success with everyone.
We also took a group puppy training class with them at Pet Orphans where Comet learned basic commands and socialization.
We loved Bethany and Maxine so much we decided to schedule a Girl Scout training workshop with them at Pet Orphans. They taught the girls basic obedience dog training, First Aid and CPR for dogs, dog «signals,» learning how dogs think, and being a responsible pet owner. They also provided handouts on doggie language and space etiquette.
We look forward to working with them again and would highly recommend Dogercise Dog Training.

Most of the time if a business has 5 stars it is inflated in some way. But this is not the case with Bethany or Dogercise.
I have two dogs that have VERY different personalities. One was «leash aggressive» super hyper on walks and the other is scared of his own shadow. But walking them had become so difficult, that I just basically stopped. I would take them out to the yard to do business and then I was done.
We had tried a few trainers in the past, and I’m just not a big fan of certain types of training. I have no issue correcting my dogs, or being the boss, but some wouldn’t even let me have my 8 lbs dogs sit on my lap, or wanted me to kick them out of bed. My dogs are rescues, and each has issues, but I don’t think changing everything about their lives is needed when what I want to change is their leash behavior.
Along came Bethany, and she gave us the perfect mix of positive and negative reinforcement. Working through their issues. Bethany felt (and I believe was correct) that my «leash aggressive» dog was trying to protect my scared dog, since he was once attacked by another dog on a walk. Obviously, in my dog’s mind I was unable to protect the pack, so it was her job. Which I had reinforced by not wanting to walk them. So we worked on it, and she is so much better. I can walk my dog and I am not scared that she is going to fight or get out of control on her walks.
Fast forward a year later and I am fostering a people «aggressive» dog. I had no idea how to deal with this. My dogs may have been bad on walks, but I had never had a dog that I couldn’t even touch without fear of being bitten. It was so stressful.
The founder of the rescue and I didn’t know what to do with this dog. We started researching options with rescues that work with aggressive dogs, because we did not have the resources or the training to deal with this. Not to mention that we not only couldn’t adopt him out in this state, but I didn’t feel safe with him in my home! I reached out to Bethany for help. She gave me tips to help the behavior, and you would not believe how fast this dog responded! In one week we went from I’m terrified to touch this dog, to he wants to sit on my lap!!! This was not a case of a dog who needed to decompress, I gave him time to do that, this was a dog who had some issues. Working with Bethany and using her training tips for 6 – 7 weeks, and we were able to adopt this dog out!!! His new family is going to continue his training, but the difference is unreal. It’s like Bethany got inside his head! I swear she knows what dogs are thinking!
One piece of advise Bethany gave me, that is probably the best advise I have ever heard regarding training: «figure out what you can live with, and that’s what you work for. Don’t try to make yourself or your dog something neither of you are, and understand that it takes time and consistency.» Not all dogs have the same personality nor do all people, but work toward a goal. Will my dog ever go up and greet every dog she meets? Probably not. She CAN now ignore them on walks so that no one gets stressed out. So I can enjoy my dogs again, and that I can live with!!!

I’ve had many dogs and been to many dog classes, but the Dogercise class I did with Bethany and Maxine was the best I’ve ever done. Not only did our puppy, Buffy, learn a lot, but I really appreciated how efficiently our time was used — every minute was made to matter and I really felt like I not only got more than my money’s worth but that my time was valued. They are so good with the dogs. Frankly, they are tougher with people than they are with dogs because dogs just want to be good and we’re the ones who screw them up!
Our pup seems pretty sharp, but she’s very willful and they helped us with that. We also brought them over for a private session to deal with some specific behavior issues and they were great, spent more time with us than promised and left us with a clear «action plan.»
I recommend Bethany, Maxine and Dogercise to anyone who wants either a group class or private training.

Bethany and Maxine are two amazing trainers! My husband and I signed up for their 6 week training class for dogs 6 months and up. It’s been a couple weeks since our last class and I have to admit I miss it. They created a fun and successful learning environment not only for our new family member, Lemmy, but also for US! We were shocked at how quickly Lemmy picked up tricks and how easy they made it for us to train at home.
Most significant was how helpful they were outside the class as well. We had noticed that Lemmy was experiencing some separation anxiety and Bethany suggested I bring his crate to class the next week. During the week she provided me with materials, videos, and the name of a great book to read. After class she stayed with me for 1 hour to show me crate training techniques and now after 2 weeks, Lemmy is a different dog! He use to fear the crate and would never go in without us picking him up. Now I can say «crate» and he goes right in and lays down. We’re working on phasing out the crate eventually and if I need ANY further advise, I’m going straight to Bethany. We’re still emailing back and forth and I am so grateful that she came to our rescue. It was breaking my heart to see my dog in such a panic and her training turned things around in a matter of days. We could not be more grateful for the additional time spent with our family.

The friendly staff at Dogercise provides excellent dog walking services for our dog, Walter. At the end of each day, I receive an e-​mail updating me regarding the highlights of Walter’s walk, which I find to be reassuring.
In almost six months of daily walks, our experience with Dogercise has been entirely positive, and Walter seems to be in better shape!

Dogercise rocks! Their staff are super-​friendly and helpful and they take great care of my dog.
What has probably impressed me most about them is their professionalism — to be candid i didn’t expect a dog training and walking service to be run in a highly professional manner, but that’s just what I’ve experienced with Dogercise.

Dogercise LA has been an excellent service that I can’t recommend highly enough.
Let’s face it, our dogs are like our children, and we want them cared for like our children when we’re not around. Dogercise LA does that with a friendly and caring service.
I was nervous about finding a dog walker who would enter my house during the day, when no one was home but Dogercise LA has been professional, courteous, accomodating of some last-​minute schedule changes, and my dog loves them! I’ve been using them for almost a year, and as I said, I can’t recommend them highly enough!

My wife and I fostered a dog that we ended up keeping. She was already 9 years old. She had a strong prey drive and a stubborn streak. We fell in love with her and quickly needed to get her accustomed to our cats and being around other dogs so we could take her to the park. She had been living on the street so she really struggled with control. She was very shy of people and we couldn’t trust her around other animals. We really weren’t sure how to handle an older dog or if she could even change very much.
She is so sensitive, yet stubborn so we sought out help. We did our research and contacted a few places. We seemed to click with Dogercise and started working with them within a couple weeks. We did two private sessions with them. They broke things down into two training phases of working with her from a behavioral stand point and then adding in obedience and lots of rewards. This worked perfectly for her and she overcame the prey issues with the cats surprisingly quick! She is also warming up to strangers quicker now and her confidence is way up. They really showed us how to balance out how to do subtle movements with her to communicate what we want. She didn’t feel overwhelmed and we saw a difference in her the first week.
We just completed a round of obedience classes with them at a rescue and we saw her confidence explode. Now she even voluntarily goes up to people sometimes. It’s taken some permanent changes on our part, but after 6 months our house is very peaceful and we are so happy! Definitely recommend them for anything.

Dogercise has been a blessing in my life. I am currently in Northern California as a student and plan on moving back to the San Fernando Valley in June when I graduate. I had planned on adopting a dog when I moved home this summer but when I found Sasha, a 9 year old chow looking for a home, I just knew I wanted her. Not able to care for her yet however, I looked for safe alternative housing for her until I returned to SoCal. I contacted Maxine Revoir, a very reliable member of the Dogercise group, and she offered to foster and train Sasha until I could take her. The folks at Dogercise are very knowledgable on current pet products and how to work with a wide variety of dog breeds and I knew this would be the right group to determine what my pet’s needs were and how to best deliver personalized care.
Since Maxine took her in in February, I have received regular updates of her health and behaviors and I don’t think I have seen a happier dog in my life. I was raised around dogs and know very well myself when someone loves and cares for these animals and I have seen such wonderful demonstrations of compassion and wisdom from the folks of Dogercise.

My fiancé and I got an English Staffy at the beginning of the year. I work during the day and my fiancé worked at night, so we were having a hard time getting him on a schedule for potty training. The time alone was making him anxious, and he was developing some bad behaviors.
A few months ago, I decided to look for a dog walker so he would get exercise and have a schedule. I found Dogercise online and scheduled to meet with Bethany. Bethany and one of the walkers, Maxine, came over to my house and were very professional and friendly. Maxine did a great job ignoring my dog’s jumping and excitement to show him that its not okay to act that way. We talked about his habits and how to help break them. I hired them on the spot.
Now, everyday when I get home from work, I come home to a happy dog! My fiancé no longer works nights, but we love having Maxine come 5 days a week to take Anakin out for a walk and give him some lovin’. She truly cares for my dog, and that makes any pet owner happy.
My dog listens better because Maxine works on stopping the compulsive behaviors, which are characteristics of his breed. When I take him around people, he listens to many more commands like «wait,» «stay,» «sit,» «okay» (as a release to waiting), «no jumping /​off,» and generally less anxious to run away to something he thinks is interesting! He does not pull on his leash anymore, which is awesome. (He used to choke himself trying to pull me around). He also is less hyperactive for the rest of the day because he has gotten some good exercise — and lots of love and belly rubs! At 9 months old, he is almost fully potty trained due to the schedule, which is amazing because he learned bad behaviors of pooping on the floor prior to Dogercise. Lastly, I trust Bethany and Maxine with my pet — more like my son! — and keys to my home.
Also, a great perk is that I get an email everyday with a recap of how the walk went. I love that they do this!

Long story short, Dogercise is the best. Bethany, Chris and their team dog walkers are great. They go above and beyond for any situation, even for special need dogs like the foster I had who had some serious behavioral issues. They’re very flexible with my needs. .. and I love how they send emails on a daily basis to let me know how well my dog does on her walk:-)

When I relocated to Los Angeles, I needed a dog walker with a solid background. My older dog, Olive, has displayed aggression in the past, so I sought Dogercise out given Bethany and Chris’ life-​long experience and careers as animal companions, trainers and caretakers. From the moment Bethany and Chris walked in the door, Olive was at ease and ready to listen. Olive is quite different from my other dog, Bella, so Bethany and Chris took time to develop a plan and a daily route to accommodate each dog’s unique needs.
They choose staff that matches their caliber of quality and devotion to animals. If they need to sub in one of their other walkers, they use an introductory process so my dogs and I feel comfortable with the new human. Each evening, the walker provides a quick but thorough report including: the dogs’ energy levels and response to exercise, what challenges occurred (how they dodged loose dogs in my neighborhood, etc.) and a potty report.
When I needed an overnight sitter last minute, Dogercise jumped in to help. I was thrilled, because not only did I know my dogs were in good, familiar hands; but I trust Dogercise to stay in my home.
Dogercise has undoubtedly been my best investment since I relocated to Los Angeles, and I can’t recommend them enough!

Chris and Bethany were SO amazing with my dog. Everyday, I would get home from work and my dog would be so happy which told me she had a good day. I highly recommend them. Their daily update report was always so helpful and let me know what my dog was up to when she was out with them.
I will be calling them whenever I need them!

When I decided to get my first puppy I didn’t have a clue where to start. I just knew I wanted a small breed. A friend of mine with two labs said to check out Dogercise because they had packages that could help me out with training.
I checked out the website and it was very thorough so I just called Bethany (Dogercise Trainer) to see what was best for me. She met with me within a few days and we came up with a package she didn’t even have on the website that fit my needs and my budget… Awesome!
She helped me find the right dog for me (A PUG-Peanut)and was very specific on what I needed to do to introduce my new pup properly to my home from dinner time to boundaries to socialization and training. I was surprised how involved everything was so she invited me to see some of the dogs she works with to see what can happen when you aren’t properly prepared for a puppy. I was so grateful!
We kept in contact weekly for a few months and had several training sessions together through all the stages of Peanut’s life. Now she boards him when I’m out of town and he is now old enough to take advantage of her Exercise Program.
