I had the club sandwich with fries for lunch. It was mediocre at best. I also had a cup of their chili with cheese. The chili was tomato based and I kept tasting overtones of bbq sauce or liquid smoke. Not to appealing. This restaurant could use some dusting, deodorizing, and a new paint job. You the thing you pick up on while waiting for your food.

Service was excellent. Finally a place that when it gets busy someone is on the floor clearing tables and refilling drinks. I had the chili and the New Orleans pasta. Both were excellent. My wife had the hot beef sandwich and that to was very good. It was busy but the wait time on a Friday night was short. Good atmosphere great foot excellent service.

We’ve been coming here for years. My husband and I split the large chef salad for $ 7.99. Honestly, this thing could have fed four people. We brought home enough salad for at least another meal for both of us! The salad was great, the dressings were good, and the waitress was excellent. We will be back soon.

Stopped into this place with some co-​workers on a work trip. I had a the «build your own burger», which is a good safe item that I tend to go to when I’m either too lazy to review the rest of the menu or not sure about anything else on it. The burger was good, and the fries that came seemed fresh. Our waitress was a tad older, which usually to me means better service. Service was great and the food was pretty decent. Being from Texas I really enjoyed that I could get Yuengling on draft since that isn’t readily available to me at home.
My only real complaints are that the atmosphere wasn’t great, and the lighting in the room was a little low.

I was visiting from out of town, and was looking for a good local restaurant that serves perch. Google suggested I come to the Brownstone Tavern, and who am I to argue?
It was a busy Friday night and the place was packed. That was a good sign! I was waited on quickly, and received my salad and entrée within 10 minutes. The perch was wonderful — fried to perfection — not dry but nice and crispy. Great place, great food, friendly staff!

I used to be a regular here about 6yrs ago before I moved out of Toledo. Just stopped in recently to find the Brownstone in pretty much the same shape (which isn’t a bad thing) as it was but the food has taken a turn for the worst. The potatoes taste like the instant kind, salads now have that cheap iceburg lettuce in them, and the portions seem smaller too.

Service could definitely be improved on, but the food makes up for it. Great spot for a lunch (although sometimes hard to fit in just an hour). The chicken salad is homemade and delicious, the french onion soup is always great, and the roast beef dip is always guaranteed to be great.

I’ve lived in Toledo my entire life & only recently have I visited the Brownstone. I have been missing out! The soups are a big draw… I want their recipe for stuffed pepper soup. The menu is large (which oftentimes indicates mediocre food) but 2 very different dishes were both delicious! Sandwiches are as delicious as steaks. I have to remember this place when I am in the northwest end of Toledo.

This place will not let you down. We always have great food and service. I almost always get the Tavern steak… its always seasoned well and cooked perfectly! My favorite steak by far in Toledo.
Also good prices and kid friendly.

This is a great place to be if you want your car broken into. On three separate occasions while I was eating mediocre food inside cars in the parking lot were broken into and valuables were stolen. The management has done absolutely nothing to protect their clientele against this reoccurring issue. They have not installed signage, security cameras, fencing, or anything else to deter the theft. Pretty soon they will be seeing a lawsuit. Eventually when someone’s child is in a car, or when someone gets hurt, they will care. By the way, I can make it better meal with the broken glass in the parking lot.

Have never had a bad meal at The Brownstone. Highly recommend the homemade French Onion Soup, the garlic toast, the Tavern Strip Steak, the Prime Rib, and the Raspberry Walnut Chicken Salad.
Sandwiches are generous and the staff is friendly. A hidden Toledo treasure.

The Brownstone has a very time capsuley vibe going on… made me feel like a kid in the 1980’s. Dark brown interior with a CHEERS like atmosphere.
the location is kind of odd, surrounded by strip mall sprawl, right in front of a krogers, and next door to a big boy. it’s not a part of town you’d expect a good meal.
but their food is solid! higher end diner quality food, with great service. i tried the reuben today, after asking the waitress what she thought was their best sandwich. It did not disappoint.
