These are not like camp grounds you would find at most state parks. I camped here once because I heard people tell me it was a lot of fun if you were going to the Texas Renaissance Festival. I had fun but the facilities here are lacking. Plus the pricing cost more than most state parks. Also, in order to even gain entrance you have to show them your tickets to Renfest. So you have to purchase Renfest tickets as well. I would rather just camp here than go to Renfest. I had more fun here. From the information I gathered at the website, they are only open during the weekends when the Texas Renaissance Festival is going on which is during October and November. The camp is divided into two sections. A family/quiet camping area and the main campgrounds. The main campgrounds are where most people camp. This area can get loud at night, although they do have a cut off time for amplified sounds. It’s mostly tent camping. There is also an area for RVs. There are no reserved spaces or any type of hookups for water and electricity. You park in the grass and just setup camp. At the front of the campground entrance they have a convenient store and a restroom/shower facility which cost money to use. They have free porto potties around the campground. So you either use nasty porto-potties or take a long walk to the entrance to pay to use the restroom or showers. There is a bonfire at night and plenty of people enjoying themselves. When I went there were a ton of people and the age range was a mix of younger and older people. I think this place would be a lot better if they had more than one restroom/shower facility and was in close proximity to the actual camping sites. Plus not charging to use these facilities. Also, there are no water faucets or fountains anywhere so make sure to bring water or expect to pay for it at the convenient store or stand they have. On a side note, be careful driving here. I would avoid going through Magnolia. The local cops there will pull you over and harass you to search for drugs.
