I have tried this place 3 times over a year and It is unorganized, Food is marginal. The Sunday brunch is horrible, staff just going thru the motions.

We were so pleasantly surprised. Went here for our Easter meal. The waitress Jennifer was a pleasure. Knowledgeable friendly restored our faith in the restaurant business. Steak and prime rib were cooked to perfection. Desserts were decadent. Our compliments to the chef and owners of this establishment.

Pleasant place. Food average. Prices high for wine and dinners. Do not waste your night out.

We went here on a recent Saturday evening. Our son is 11 months old and had not been out to a restaurant before. We were nervous about bringing him, and explained the situation when we called to make reservations. We were seated in the corner — away from other diners and a separate table was added to our booth to ensure we had plenty of room. Throughout our dinner, the service was impeccable. We all had burgers. They were solidly decent — nothing to rave about, but cooked well with high quality ingredients. The beer list was also impressive. We will definitely be back.

Jen the bartender is amazing!!! She is so amicable! Makes you feel right at home and she mixes the best drinks! We will be regulars at McLoone’s!

Sunday BRUNCH buffet style for $ 25 p/p has to be the best in the area. Fresh Clams and Oysters on the ½ shell, bacon, sausage, made to order omelettes and prime rib are all great. I’ve ate here once before and it wasn’t even worthy of a review and see the improvements since it became a McLoones. The fresh fruit was a little on the sparse side and could have been replenished. That’s my only complaint.

Waiter, Mario, was prompt, friendly and knowledgable about the menu and specials. The little red pesto served with the bread was a nice touch and the bread was funny and engaging Ordered fire cracker shrimp which was bomb. Plus the chips with guac… Which could have used a little bit more flavor We didn’t drink can’t speak for the bar Steak fajitas were surprisingly good for a mccloones. Pecan chicken salad was delicious. All presentations were appealing. Be back again with the rest of the damily

I like the food at CJ McLoone’s but it is pricey for the quality and reality that it is bar food. They make good salads and their burgers/sandwiches at this location are some of the better of all of the McLoone’s in the area. Their appetizers and entrees are to highly priced for the quality of food that you get. This place is much more of a casual pub style place, but they try to make it more upscale. Great drinks, friendly bartenders, and very good deals during Happy Hour and NFL game times.

Gave CJ Mcloons another try. Again I ordered the burger med-rare and it was cooked as I requested. Also ordered the onion rings rather then frozen fries. Tasted and appeared to be hand cut, crispy and not full of oil taste. Wife had the crab cake sandwich, chunks of fresh lump crab not full of bread crumbs and cooked with a slight crisp on the outside with the taste of moist lump crab on the inside. I’m glad I gave them another try. As far as bar food I think they deserve the 3 stars. Maybe on my next visit if they wow us they will move up on the star rating.

Terrific! My daughter and I stopped in for a quick bite at the bar on Saturday night. We ordered wine, and then a salad and burger to split. Our bartender was terrific– she had the salad and then the burger served to us on two regular size plates. We were NOT served one salad and then given a bread plate for us to use to share, which frequently happens at other establishments. Burgers were split with fries on each plate. Burger was delicious with a good roll. Great atmosphere. Definitely heading back soon!

Ok we are here for dinner and my husband ordered the ribs. We both thought it would be a full rack for $ 18.95. When it came out it was a half rack. Very dissapointing.

Was here on a Saturday night. Luckily we were able to get a table for 3 plus baby. Surprisingly it wasn’t that packed(assuming everyone was down at Riverfest). This was our first time at this location and I really liked the ambience. Inside was very clean, modern and had a touch of elegance to it. Staff was really nice and friendly. Our waitress was also very nice and made sure we had what we needed. The menu was a little all over the place. You had typical American foods, plus some Italian plus some Asian, plus Mexican(Burgers, to pasta to fried rice to fajitas), so that was a bit weird. I decided to keep it simple and just try their burger. It was actually pretty good. It had a brioche bun, which was excellent because it didn’t fall apart all over the place. Our cousin had the crab cakes and wedge salad. The wedge salad looked really good. We may come back just to try the wedge salad. Just FYI, its big enough to share. The only thing I didn’t like was the table for 4 was way too small. Next time i’ll be asking for a booth, which looked a bit roomier.

Not happy with the food. I got the crab cakes, which was their«specialty» and according to their menu, what they were famous for. I love crab cakes. What I got was bread. Overly dry bread, bland, barely enough sauce, which was bland as well. Not sure if it even had crab in it. It was so dry(possibly over-cooked??) and barely tasted anything like crab. I did order a specialty Cosmo they were promoting, which was one of the greatest cosmo’s I’ve ever had. If just rating the food, would have only given 1 star. But, the drinks my friends and I had were great, so I added a point for that. Prices for the food reflect that of a high rated restaurant. In other words, for the prices you pay, you expect quality food. You don’t get the quality they are charging for, so you feel ripped off when you leave.

Needs work for the price. Slimy brown lettuce in my sandwich. Slow service. Bartender didn’t know how to pour a beer.

The last time I was here was for Easter brunch. It was disappointing. Very poor quality — but it was affordable. I did enjoy the smoked salmon but the bagel was not vey fresh however edible. I would go again for cocktails and appetizers with girl friends, which is why I gave it three stars. But other than that the food is not so fantastic. The turkey burger I had a month ago was dry and I didn’t eat it. Very expensive dinner.

Surprised at some interesting flavor combinations/dishes on their menu: prime rib spring rolls with sweet chili sauce and a wasabi soufflé sounded almost gourmet, yet it was only $ 9.99. That description alone should bump the price up, and it was way better than most appetizers I’ve had in «finer» dining establishments. Even their salads deserve extra attention: consistently good, properly portioned, and fresh(try the Betty salad — I got the hubby hooked too). As one reviewer noted, there’s a slight disconnect between the dining room(very chic) to the bar(could be rowdy and terribly loud). Don’t make the mistake of sitting at the bar when you have a kid. Although the taller chairs/booth are often attractive to them, the clientele can be pretty vulgar, especially on a Friday night(I should have known). One other downside is kraft mac and cheese for the kids. Really? Since this is a McLoone’s, at least get that recipe from the Pier Village location and have it here. You’ll have my undying loyalty if you do. Overall, I’m sold. Service has been almost excellent these last few visits which, paired with the reasonably priced(and interesting) menu, is all the more reason to keep coming back.

Local place for me, so if I want a good fix AND I DON’T WANTTOCOOK, it’s the place to go when I don’t want to go all the way to Red Bank or order in pizza or Chinese. Service is decent, and menu is typical fare of bar food, American dishes with chicken, salads and pastas. If you are an adventurous foodie, you would be bored with the food. I haven’t tried their brunch yet. The other McCloone’s had the beauty of their locations(Long Branch and Sea Bright) to make up for the ok brunch food. The Tinton Falls /Shrewsbury location doesn’t have such advantage.

I went here for lunch with coworkers and overall it was OK. This place was a mix of fine dining and a sports bar — kinda odd. Everyone got sandwiches that were pretty good. I got a cobb salad that was OK. For me, when I get a salad as my main meal, I expect a good sized salad. This was not that filling — and I have had way better salad. It was good — but didn’t really hit the spot. The chicken was obviously prepped way early and in little pieces — instead of super fresh. I mean, it was $ 14. Should have been way better. Service good — food OK.
