Long live Plush Horse! The best ice cream in Chicagoland, hands down, end of argument. Stopped by tonight with a bunch of my friends right before closing, and the young ladies at the counter were very patient with us; they accommodated multiple sample requests in a time when I’m sure they had lots of other stuff to take care of. Everything about this place is awesome.

Oh my goodness. Sitting at table right now drinking my «Holiday Merry Mint» shake. Medium size, $ 5.10, and worth Every Penny. I’m in heaven right now. First time here and I’ll be back for sure.(And customer service was AWESOME. Very helpful and friendly)

They have their egg nog again for the season and it is sooooo good! But even better, we tried one of Mary’s handmade caramel apples(with pecans). Sweet, salty, tart and by far the best caramel apple my wife and I have ever had. The home made caramel has such a dark, rich, intense taste yet so clean and fresh. The apple was sharp and crunchy and the nuts were very fresh.

Absolutely the best ice cream I have had. I’ve had ice cream everywhere from Michigan to Orgeon, but this place takes the cream. We went on a Wednesday night, and the place was packed. The interior of the store is as charming as the exterior, complete with life-size plush pony. Outside, there are benches, Adirondack chairs and picnic tables to enjoy the surrounding foliage. I got a scoop of peach and a scoop of apple pie ice cream in a waffle cone. First off, if you’re just looking for a smaller treat, you won’t need to order more than one scoop, as their scoops are enormous. My cone was $ 6.00, but it was more than enough for two people to share. The texture was incredibly creamy and thick; I can’t describe it because I’d never tasted anything quite like it! Both flavors were sweet and layered. Bonus points: My group sat outside and chatted for a while, when one of the workers came up to make sure everything tasted ok and to offer us paper towels! This place is not close to where I live, but I will definitely be coming back and bringing my roommate!

Heck yeah! Awesome stuff! The staff was never annoyed at our numerous requests for samples which was cool. Homemade, and you can taste it. It also feels like an Ice Cream Parlor. We have Cake Batter and Apple Pie and both were super awesome!

Absolutely amazing ice cream! So many choices of in house made ice cream! Cinnamon, buttercream and choc choc chip are awesome! If we had one of these in Memphis, TN no other shop would come close!

It is a bit painful to write this review, because I’ve had Plush Horse bookmarked for so long and have been so excited to try it out. It is about an hour away from my house so I had to wait until the perfect opportunity to go. I knew I had a trip down that way planned this past weekend and so could scarcely contain my excitement that I’d finally be able to check this place out! I LOVE the Cookie Monster and this place not only has lots of cookies, but they have a COOKIEMONSTERICECREAM! This sounds like instant 5 stars to me. I was certain that I’d love everything about the experience. So here’s what happened. The shop is located in a little strip mall not too far from downtown Tinley. The store is much larger than I expected(to fit all of those flavors of ice cream — they have 60 homemade flavors to pick from). I love everything about the idea of this place. They hand make all of the ice cream on site; they have awesome and unique flavors like Cookie Monster and Superman. It just seems like so much fun! The prices are little hefty — my husband and I went together and it was $ 13 for the two of us, so don’t expect a few cheap cones. But for homemade, I was definitely willing to pay a higher price. I ordered the cookie monster and a scoop of cookies and cream(my fave) in a chocolate chip cookie bowl. This sounds like the best thing that ever happened to me. It was not. The cookie bowl didn’t even taste cookie-ish. It had no flavor, and I was instantly wishing I’d just gone with a cone(and the $ 6.99 price for the cookie bowl also hurt). The cookies and cream was ok… but, I’ve had better with Breyer’s. The cookie monster had a bitter flavor to it, which is probably the food coloring since it is bright blue. I didn’t love any of it, and I ate a few scoops and threw the rest away. Oh, such bitter disappointment!

Went here for the first time with my daughter, she was so excited the girl working there let her try each and every flavor she wanted to. I didnt quite understand the scoop thing but that doesnt matter cause in the end we walked out with a big amount of ice cream and a shake for only $ 11.00. Thats amazing when you dont have/make alot of money. Thanks for making my daughter so happy!

This is a newer location for me. Same great ice cream, but the décor isn’t as warm and nostalgic as the other location. Staff was very friendly and helpful! They had 2 dairy-free options(mango & watermelon sorbet), which was a huge plus for me!

Love this place and it’s always busy! Yum yum yummy ice cream and plenty of flavors to choose from. The only bad thing is the lack of indoor seating.

I made a Unilocal account just to review this place. It’s a sweet little ice cream shop off the corner of 171st&80th, and the ice cream is even sweeter! I went there a couple of days ago but I go weekly because I am so in love with the dark chocolate ice cream, which is crazy cheap for being HOMEMADEINTHESTOREONSIGHT. The scoops are enormous & there’s over 60+ flavors with a giant sign that shows all of them, also with a scoop serving size chart. The staff is SOFRIENDLY even on the super busy days where the line for ice cream is out the door. I also recommend buying their pre-packaged cupcakes if you want something on-the-go. Overall, the homemade ice cream is the BEST, the store is clean and sanitary, and the staff/service is quick and painless. Best place to go if your sweet tooth is kicking in. This store deserves 6 stars.

Plush Horse Ice Cream Shoppe is where it’s at. Especially if you are an obese, penny pinchin’, sweets lovin’ ‘Merican. This is it. Seriously though, the ice cream here is legit. It’s some of the best I’ve had and I’m picky as hell. It’s also insanely cheap. I think we got a pop and two servings of ice cream(I say«servings» because their scoops are grossly understated. We got the «baby scoops» and each«baby scoop» is 2 full scoops. Crazy.) for under $ 10. If you’re ever in the middle of nowhere, aka Tinley Park, you need to stop in here. Your stomach will thank you. Your thighs may not.

Pony up the ice cream! Plush Horse is a Southside Chicago fave ice cream parlor selling homeade ice cream, milkshakes, sundaes, malts, floats, decorative sugar cookies, and other frozen desserts like ice cream cakes/cupcakes/pies/cake rolls & ice cream cookie sandwiches. Plush Horse is most famous for its ice cream. They claim to have over 60 flavors & all are homemade, ranging from your basic, fave flavors to a rainbow of unique, artisanal flavors; rotating seasonal flavors; NSA flavors; and even some gluten-free ones. They offer mainly traditional ice cream but also have some flavors of gelato, sorbet, sherbet, and frozen yogurt. So every type of frozen confection is represented here! Sampling is allowed, and I tried a gemload! The portions(scoops) here are gemnormous! A baby scoop is 1 scoop, pony scoop is 2 scoops, 1 scoop is 3 scoops &2 scoops is 4 scoops! You can get your scoops in a cup, regular cone, waffle cone or bowl, or one of their homemade chocolate chip bowls. The signature waffle sundae is served on a warm, Belgium waffle. After sampling, I decided on a pony scoop(2 scoops of your choice) & got 1 scoop of blueberry ice cream &1 scoop of strawberry frozen yogurt because both were so good I couldn’t get just one. The strawberry fro-yo was hand-dipped and the best strawberry fro-yo I’ve ever had. The taste & texture was just like regular hard ice cream. The blueberry ice cream was also hand-dipped, hard & the best blueberry ice cream I’ve ever had. Both were berrylicious & had a nice, natural taste with flecks of berries unlike other frozen berry confections I’ve had that tasted overly artificial. I give Plush Horse 5 scoops for taste, texture & variety and can’t wait to try all 60+ flavors! So if you are looking for an ice cream shop with a gemload of gemazing, homemade flavors & gemnormous portions, then giddy-up & go to Plush Horse to sample & savor a scoop or 2 at a Southside favorite!

I’m in the camp that food doesn’t necessarily have to be bigger to be better. Sometimes I’d prefer things to be a perfect portion size so I don’t have to throw it away or feel like I gained 20 pounds. I saw the awesome reviews before going so I knew I’d have a great experience but seeing the pics of giant ice cream scoops made me hesitant to try it. I decided to skip lunch before going to Plush Horse and make this my afternoon treat. I ordered the black cherry ice cream on a pretzel cone. Ermagod i could dieeee! There’s never been a greater combination of salty and sweet since the frosty and french fries. It’s the perfect balance and I loved licking the salt off the pretzel cone in between licks of the ice cream. I need to mass order some of those cones ASAP! If you can’t tell, the cone was my favorite part of the whole dessert. I thought the ice cream was pretty good but wish I would have tried a few different flavors because I wasn’t completely sold on the black cherry. The Superman ice cream looked amazing and is usually my favorite, so I really don’t know why I didn’t order that, but you can bet I’ll be back soon for another one of those pretzel cones and to try some more flavors.
