Lakes Region Cupcakes

This place just re-​opened under new ownership. I’m sad to say the quality of the cupcakes is not even close to the same. The recipes are definitely the same, but they have to be using cheaper ingredients. The frosting now has a vegetable-​shortening flavor and leaves that fatty film in your mouth, and the superb dark-​almost-​black cocoa I used to love in the original owner’s cupcakes has been replaced with a very ordinary store-​bought tasting type. The vanilla extract they must be using has that cheap, alcohol-​y taste. Every cupcake from this place used to be a work of art, now they’re just your average ordinary cupcake… but still a cupcake, and cupcakes are still good. I will miss the exceptional ones, guess we should have bought more when the old owner still ran it.

My husband and I make special trips to Tilton to get cupcakes when they have an especially good flavor day. They provided the cupcakes for our wedding and subsequent anniversaries and celebrations. Every cupcake has been delicious, the staff is always friendly, and the store is always clean and neat. The flavors we love the most are cookie dough, anything with peanut butter frosting, and red velvet. Their menu has expanded and the brownies and cookies are really good too.
Also, it’s worth noting that on our first trip in (April 2013) when my husband was in his uniform and the owner came out and thanked him for his service and offered us free cupcake cards. It was a really nice personal touch and made us happy to be supporting a local business, on top of their delicious products.

AMAZING! I recently did a «cupcake tasting» to help decide which cupcake shop I’d use for my upcoming wedding, and your looking at the winner! Their cupcakes not only looked and smelt amazing, their taste is so rich and delicious. All of my taste testers agreed that they were the best out of the 3 shops we tried. The owners are also extremely friendly and accomodating, more then willing to work with us and help make our day and the cupcakes as special as they could. The shop is super clean, and always full of delicious goodies! Stop by and see them!!!

After hearing so much about this cupcake shop I finally stopped in & was glad I did because they now offer donuts. I tried all of them & they were amazing, I will def be coming back to try any new flavors

Went in for the first time today with my boyfriend after wanting to check it out for a long time (and after watching one too many episodes of cupcake wars). I was not dissapointed. I got the thin mint and he got a samoa cupcake and they were both amazing for lack of a better word. Definitely worth the money!

My husband and I wandered into the Meredith location by accident and it was a lucky day for us. It was very late, nearly closing time, and yet the few cupcakes left turned out to be just as moist and delicious as if they’d only come out of the oven. The icing on these cupcakes is maybe what lifts them above the competition. It’s more like a merengue, thick and flavorful but not cloying– you know how some icing is mostly shortening and clings to your tongue? Not these, even the Peanut Butter was creamy and sweet but left no aftertaste. I’m a New Yorker, I know my bakeries, and I’ve got to say these were definitely worth the price and the calories. Good job, LRC!

Yummy. The Elvis is a delectable marriage of a banana-​based cake with a peanut butter frosting. I chose the one with the optional chocolate drizzle because it is against my religion to decline chocolate under any circumstances. I was not disappointed. The cupcake was great. I miss it. I miss it so much.

We were in New Hampshire visiting the Tilton School and one of the student guides recommended that we try Lakes Region Cupcakes. What a great recommendation! I am a cake/​cupcake lover and they have some of THE BEST cupcakes that I have ever had. I ordered the strawberry shortcake and my daughter ordered a vanilla cupcake. My first clue that it was going to be good was in the car, after we purchased our cupcakes, and we were headed back to our hotel. We were about 20 minutes into our ride home (my daughter was seated in the back of the car) and I started to smell vanilla, like a crisp, clean and distinct vanilla smell … turned around and of course, she’s eating the cupcake. I have purchased many a cake in my day and never has a scent been so «honest» (couldn’t think of another word). My strawberry cupcake had a light whipped cream frosting and fresh strawberries. The cake was moist and melt in your mouth good. If only they were further south!

Chocolate and vanilla are guaranteed, but others flavors vary daily. I love the creativity behind the flavor profiles and that I can find so much variety. I strongly suggest you call EARLY to place an order, as they sell out very quickly. The cupcake fad has finally made its delicious way to the lakes region!

Went this weekend and brought home a dozen cupcakes (split between my sister and some friends). We tried the apple pie cupcake, red velvet, grasshopper (mint frosting and chocolate cake), vanilla with chocolate frosting, chocolate with vanilla frosting, snickerdoodle and key lime pie. Every single cupcake was delicious, and the red velvet is the best red velvet that I have tried to date. Each cake was moist without being to dense and the frosting was equally light and flavor full. I was worried that the apple pie cupcake, which was a cinnamon flavored cake with apple pie filling and caramel butter cream frosting would be too heavy b/​c of the frosting, but the caramel butter cream was light and smooth and complimented the cake perfectly. Key lime pie was delicious, with a little bit of custard filling and a lovely cream cheese lightly lime flavored. The chocolate cake was excellent and not at all dry. The prices are in line with every other cupcake shop I’ve tried. I will definitely be returning!
