Trail Rider Pizza

Pizza is good but carry-​out only. Be sure to call ahead. Staff was very friendly. They do have a couple tables inside for waiting and a picnic table outside.

Off the bat, I’ll say just say that this review is for their gluten-​free pizza. I write it with the hopes of it improving because it is nice to have gluten-​free pizza in the area. Hats off to them for trying, seriously.
We had two big problems with their GF pizza: 1. It came to about $ 34 for 2, tiny (10″, I believe) thin-​crust pizzas. Had they been phenomenal, that wouldn’t have been a problem, and I’d be writing a different review. I’m happy for businesses to make a profit when they serve quality items. Which leads to problem 2: It seemed like they took Udi’s frozen, gluten-​free crusts and just slapped cheese, pepperoni, and sauce on them – something we could have done at home saving us the drive plus the grumpy attitude from whomever rung us up.
For me, value is found at that sweet spot between price and quality, where you’re happy to pay the price because the quality matches. The gluten-​free pizza misses that mark.

We happened across this pizza joint on our way through town. Our RV generator was getting looked at by someone who lived in the area. The staff was super nice and accommodating. The pizza was delicious and the cold pizza the next day was good too. (I like to know if pizza is good both hot and cold)

I purchase a large thin crust pizza here about every two weeks. Over the last year, the crust had improved dramatically since my initial review. Sometimes it’s better than others, but is has been consistently good.

I’m gonna say I’m a fan. The staff are SUPER friendly and social. Trail Rider Pizza is just that – a place to stop just minutes outside of the International District of Albuquerque hidden in the canyon with the four hills and Manzano Mts on either side of you covered in what would be considered a forest by New Mexico standards. It’s right by Molly’s which is highly rated – I have not been there yet.
Stressed? Take a ride to Tijeras. Energetic? Take a ride and go on an amazing hike in the trails in the area. Feeling romantic? It’s secluded enough to bring that special someone for that needed alone time away from the scene.
It’s traditional Italian pizzeria inside and picnic tables outside. It wasn’t the best slice I ever had, but I will definitely be back.

Great pizza and even on a super busy night they deliver to Molly’s (the bar next door). Can’t ask for more!

Pretty good pizza. BUT if you can’t produce the Mac n Cheese Pizza, then don’t advertise it. TOTALLY disappointed tonight, since I wanted to buy 2. One for me, and one for the birthday girl

Great pizza. I especially like their «Take-​and-​bake» option, since I have a 15 minute drive from the place to home, and might as well cook it myself rather than reheat it.
The big con here is that they are very expensive for a pizza joint. Expect to pay around $ 20 for a large pie (and if you do take-​and-​bake, add a $ 5 deposit). That’s the ONLY reason for this being a 3-​star review instead of a 4 or 5.

I had the chance to sample the pizza when I was next door at Molly’s. You can order from over there and they’ll deliver to you! Nice!
I had the DWI pizza, and it was really delicious. Two crust options, and they also offer sandwiches and appetizer type things. I liked my food!

Surprisingly good pizza for out in the middle of nowhere. Until dominos moved into a b**** would this was the only place to get a piece of pizza in the East mountains. My wife thinks the sauce is a bit too spicy. Their prices are definitely too high. Perhaps they will lower their prices now that there is a little more competition in the area. I would have given in 5 stars if they would deliver and have lower prices.

Ordered from here on a whim to check it out (we’re local). Order was done in a relatively timely manner, staff was friendly. Food was nothing special in my book. The green chile cheese bread was interesting. The small pepperoni pizza we got was alright. Decent marina sauce, but the crust was a little too… fluffy? The hot wings were very scrawny and not how I like them. This place is fine if you are local to the area and want a pizza I guess. I’ll go into ABQ next time I want to indulge in pizza.

It’s a tiny little trailer by the side of the road, to the far right side of Molly’s, semi-​hidden behind trees so it’s really easy to miss. There’s not much to see inside but a cooler with drinks, two minuscule tables and the counter. Luckily there are two benches underneath a tree outside. A medium pizza was $ 20, pretty pricey in my book, but it was so loaded with stuff that every time I took a slice an avalanche of toppings would slide off. We got the Santa Fe because you have to have green chile everything in New Mexico and it did not disappoint. Our primary server was no more than seven years old so I’ll excuse her cold table manners but the rest of the staff was more than accommodating. Overall a good experience.

Dinner this evening was my first visit to this place. Got a Supreme pizza to go. Keep in mind, I don’t think any place in the greater Albuquerque area has «out of this world» pizza, so 3-​stars is a decent mark coming from me.
Their crusts are hand tossed from made-​in-​house dough. Standard crust (i.e., not deep dish, not thin crust). Toppings were generous. Overall, I’d say it would go well with a beer. Just a good work-​horse of a pizza (Just to be clear, there’s no horse meat in the pizza!)
They also have salads, pop (that’s soda to you New Mexico folk), hot and cold subs, and appetizers like breadsticks, hot wings, mozzarella sticks, and cheese bread. I also saw french bread pizza and pizza by the slice on the menu. I have not yet tried any of these items.
The whole restaurant is a funky little trailer beside Mollys (the bar next door). There is only one small table inside. It also says on their menu that you can place an order through «your waitress» at Mollys (the bar next door).
It’s quite a drive from my house on the West Side, so I probably won’t be trekking out here from home too often, but it’s not far from where I work on the east side. I could see picking up a sub here for lunch during the work week. But for dinner, I’ll probably stick with my own homemade pizzas or NickyV’s on the West Side.
