WHBM at Washington Square has been my Go To store for many years now. I shop here for cocktail dresses, casual clothing, jeans, jackets, accessories and shoes. I am a size 2 or 4 and the clothes here fit my size and frame so beautifully. I do almost all of my shopping in this very store. I have a collection of their jackets – a WHBM jacket addiction if you will. It’s always a great visit when I shop with Cristin. She knows my style and my size and she puts together amazing outfits. She’s styled me on many occasions. They have maintained consistent staffing over the years and that makes my shopping experience exceptional. I’ve been able to shop WHBM as I get older and feel comfortable with the styles regardless of my age. I always come out looking classy with a little bit of edge. KUDOS to this store and the women who work there! One place to improve? Carry a few more 2s and 4s on the rack. Sometimes the quantity is a little low for women my size.

I found these amazing pants at the Bridgeport location and the manager was wonderful and very helpful, I wanted to see if the pants came in another color and knowing that the Bridgeport store was closing I called the Happy Valley Location to see if these pants came in other colors. The girl that answered did not even volunteer to help but told me to go to the website to look for what I wanted. I then called the Washington Square location and Fidelia the store manager answered. What a BIG difference. She spent a lot of time looking for what I needed and then took my name and phone number so that she could call me if similar pants came in that I might like. That’s good customer service

WHBM has unique styles, and I love the quality, but the prices are way too high, even the sale and clearance prices. This is a shopping mall, not Rodeo Drive. The vanity sizing is out of control, and«petite» sizing doesn’t apply to anyone under 5’6″, so actual«petite» women really have no choices here. Service is good, very good actually. No matter how many times I come in an just browse, they are always welcoming and helpful.

White House Black Market… sounds like the Good meeting the Bad, or a place to get pretty wedding dresses on the sly for too-much-cash(you know… on the Black Market…). Okay, maybe you’re not as strange as I am and maybe you guessed right away that this is a swank clothing store for women selling primarily… that’s right… black and white clothing. This is girl’s dream come true! Mostly I shop here for dresses… which are cut to fit actual people and are well-made. Most importantly though, the clothes are styled to be very flattering and forgiving — both the cut and type of fabric is usually fantastic(you know, fabric that is thin enough to be light and fun, but thick enough to avoid clinging and that drape beautifully and hide any… um…‘flaws’ that you might think need to be hidden). This is where I come for cocktail dresses, but they also carry all the clothes you’d need for a business-casual day at work, a hot night out on the town, and all the casual in-betweens. Definitely the place to go for basic versatile pieces that are also stunning all on their own. Shopping here without your favorite clothing-adviser friend isn’t going to be a problem since the salespeople happily fill in the role of best-friend by giving you honest opinions, bringing you shoes in your size to help facilitate making good decisions as to whether the dress(or other item of clothing) looks stunning or not, and by bringing you a variety of winning accessories to try on to help complete the look for a special event. It can actually be quite fun to shop for a dress here. Oohhh…for the best deals though, you must shop the sale section of the store, otherwise things can be over-priced. Also, sign up for free as a «black book member» to receive good coupons, and 5% off all your purchases.(If these don’t offer deals that are good enough, there is an outlet location in Woodburn). This location is just as good as the Bridgeport Village location, both offering a similar amount of sale-items(which is really the most important thing to know about).
