Don’t waste your time. 2 orders of Macaroni during a slow late Sunday brunch. Our«meal» showed up 50 minutes later, luke-warm, and the portions were minuscule. It appeared that they took one portion, and split it into two servings for us. One of the bowls looked like it was messily scooped out, to fill the other — and we got about 4 bites each. We also had to go find our own silverware(couldn’t find our waiter — who was friendly but kept disappearing for 20 minutes at a time), and didn’t get asked for a refill on our sodas. Two parties that arrived much later than us had already been served lunch and left. We tipped well, but won’t be back.

Four stars for a McMenamins? You’ve got to be kidding. These places are known for refurbishing old buildings and getting them back on the tax rolls, as well as being a venue for selling their beer. After sampling their food a few times we’ve avoided them. However, this time we were with a group who met there so we went, and we were surprised and pleased. The Communication Breakdown burgers, unfortunately selling for $ 13, were excellent and cooked as ordered. I also had a side of Brussels sprouts which, though tasty, were actually hard. I don’t think they’re supposed to be that way but I’ll try cooking some at home to be sure. As with the other McMenamins we’ve seen, the ambience is first rate. The service was a little slow. We’ll stop avoiding McMenamins after this experience.

I tried giving you another try because you are in the neighborhood but tell me why it takes over 6 minutes to get waters after being greeted and even longer to order food. There was no one other than maybe a few other tables in the place. In no way should of it taken over an hour to dine when there was no one in there in the first place! I think the waitress enjoyed talking to the chef more than working!

Love the weird plumbing at all McMenamins; the urinals have left and right handles on the same urinal. It’s about time! As a leftie, I demand my right to flush with the correct hand! Love it! The only problem we ran into was the shuffleboard table we were playing on. We play a fair amount of shuffleboard. So when we get a table that is really unbalanced, we notice. This one was really entertaining. You know, it takes more adeptness(and less beer) to plan on an unbalanced table. Not sure how the other one was(there are two). Always fun; and always good beer!

Came in to play snooker. After about fifteen minutes, I wasn’t feeling in the groove and decided to stop, no worries. Turns out that company policy is to charge for the full hour. Any serious, competent place pro-rates table time. Will never eat, drink, or put together a cue in any McMenamin’s ever again, on principle.

Probably more like 3.5 stars, but really… there’s not much competition out here. Your standard westside McMenimins Strip Mall Diaspora. For what it is, its just a step above A-OK. Shuffleboard, darts, pool, and snooker(for the true enthusiast). Generally acceptable service, décor is good lipstick on the strip mall pig, and it’s the consistently OK-GOOD McMenamins fare. On the east side this is a two star joint. But don’t take that the wrong way. This is Tigard/Beaverton, and we have to support these places. The last .5 star: Their patio, for a strip mall, is actually making a very strong effort. There’s a nice space with plants and heaters, and it makes a good effort to go beyond just being a slab of concrete. I appreciate their effort.

we have given this place several tries(five within a year) and have received mediocre service at best. the first visit, we waited a longer than normal time to even be acknowledged. when our food arrived, my bowl had something unidentifiable in it. the server said it was a chunk of mole paste, something that was not an intended ingredient in that bowl. this afternoon, while the server getting our drink order, another server walked up and asked her a question. I was talking, and she turned around and walked away, to address whatever the other server needed. never came back. we guessed that second server was training, because when he eventually returned with our drinks and to take our food order, the original server loomed behind. I asked twice for a side of sauce, never received it. we also never saw him again, or the original. we were helped by two more people before leaving. at least they are consistent, I guess. we enjoy McMenamins and visit other locations often enough to be known regulars, and always experience great service. it takes a lot for me to leave this kind of review. we will continue to visit those locations, but today was likely the last time here.

McMenamin’s(MM) gets a bad rap in Portland, and just because it’s a chain restaurant. I disagree, everytime I hit up a MM for some beer + comfort food, they never disappoint. My favorite thing about this location in particular is the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. Having worked in fine dining myself, I know good service when I see it. I liked that our server on our last visit introduced herself, listed specials, and offered recommendations on what to order. Shoutout to whoever trained these servers the proper way on providing exceptional food service. Anyway, food at MM is pretty standard-issue. We loved our Mac N Cheese and tater tots. No complaints about that. I’d say MM is a great place to bring the coworkers after a long at work, or for a first date.

Service was great. Blue cheese better than most mcmenamins. Food, Yummy. Ugly strip mall, not funky or fun like some mcmenamins but the food and service make up for it. Definitely recommend if you are in the area. Beer is great.

Nice place. Rude employees. The place has that great rebirth antique feel you love about Mcmenamins, and all the excellent pub food and drink that goes with it. But look out for a load of subversive and judgemental employees making jokes at your expense right in front of you. Don’t ask for Nitro either. «It takes 7 minutes to pour one», and«it’s a pain». I think I dealt with maybe one person who didn’t have some strange attitude issue they needed to demonstrate with a wink to another. I certainly won’t forget my passport next time on my last visit to greenway when I show up solely to collect my stamp.

Drinks were decent, service was decent… I definitely have been to better establishments and much better McMenamins though… The one thing that made me absolutely livid, is that you have to pay for shuffleboard!!! We had a substantially high beer tab and the place was pretty much empty on a Saturday night, and they charged us $ 15 for playing for three hours… I was blown away, I have never been charged for shuffleboard at any pub or bar location, ever(and this was not told to us)…So sad because this is in my neighborhood but I will not be returning for shuffleboard and probably not for drinks.

I had the pleasure of having the experience of McMenamins for the first time — it was in the early afternoon and I was honestly slightly nervous, I knew that the restaurant chain had highly customized variable themed restaurants at different locations so I wasn’t sure what I was going to waltz in to. I had the notion that I must get a local brew on tap as that’s their central theme and what they build their menu’s around. I gathered the courage to enter the establishment and was greeted by a casually dressed man who turned out to be the bartender and said that I could take a seat anywhere I’d like — I decided to sit up at the bar, there weren’t that many people inside but their outside seating was pretty dense. The atmosphere seemed extremely laid back, the décor seemed a little eccentric(in a nice way) and had many older themed photos. I ordered they backyard burger, the artisan bun was nice and freshly soft. The burger patty I order medium well was a little more on the well side with just a little bit of pink which I personally prefer and as a personal preference I ordered some tots, which were nice and crispy. I’ve never tried African peanut soup, it was very hardy but light with not too much of a peanut taste; sweet, salty and slightly sour with fresh shredded chicken — it was very good. The lager was refreshing with some crisp hoppy notes as it finished off on the tongue and curbed the saltiness and fat of the«pub» fare. The workers seemed very personable as they talked casually with their customers at the bar and they seemed to know each other — either regulars or possibly friends of the workers who came in. Overall I left with a homey feeling, very relaxing!

Wonderful atmosphere as can be expected of a McMenamins pub. The food was delicious and our server was adorable and very helpful!

This is easily the worst mcMenamins I’ve been too. The service is consistently average at best. The food quality varies wildly between good and poorly prepared. You can get a better burger at Boardwalk next door. Prices at McMenamins have also become expensive. If you are looking for a much better happy hour or meal experience, go to Fanno Creek Brewhouse in Tigard, a short drive from here. McMenamins totally needs to refocus its food and quality.

This lunch was very tasty and hospitable with great friendly service from the bartender to other staff members. Such a great experience that I totally flat left my briefcase after leaving. Upon returning back to check if it was still there, mainly because my iPad was in it, I was recognized immediately and the briefcase was returned to me from behind the bar where was stored. If only every restaurant in town provided the quality food and service that I experienced!

Strip mall location but it’s been here since 1983. The interior is surprisingly more warm and inviting than the exterior. The place is split in two with pool tables and separate seating area on the right while the kitchen, bar and main seating is on the left. The place looked pretty clean. Service was standard, nothing special. Went for the Ale House Fish & Chips this time around. The chips were pitiful! Soggy skin-on fries that hardly seemed to be fried at all, more like steamed. I was expecting the same crispy perfection as the ubiquitous McMenamin’s tots but no luck. Bummer! Amazingly enough, the fish was crispy and delicious. Two thick cuts of white fish had a crunchy breadcrumb-type crust and were cooked beautifully. Unfortunately, the coleslaw was completely flavorless. It was either a complete oversight or an afterthought. Whatever the explanation, it basically tasted like slightly moist unseasoned shredded cabbage. Inedible. Thankfully the ever-present Reuben and side salad were as tasty as ever. If you live in the area it seems like a fine place to hang out and play pool or shuffle board while enjoying some drinks. Otherwise, there’s no special draw to this location besides scoring a passport stamp.

I got my stamp. That was the only reason I went into this sad little smick-men-imins. Service: Great, the few people that I met were very friendly and were attentive. Atmosphere: *What year are we in??* Food: I had the special, should have known better. It was a basically a grilled cheese with mushrooms. Why they have received such few stars: my grilled cheese was $ 11…and it hardly had any mushrooms. Would I go back: Only if I a friend needs to get a stamp.

I hate to say this but most of my reviews from here on out will be McMenamins related. I received a Mcmenamins Passport and I gotta get that thing stamped so I can be a COSMICTRIPSTER!!! With that being said, this particular Mcmens was such a disappointment. Let me explain.. . First, it’s located in somewhat of a strip mall so I had my trepidations to begin with. After walking in I was immediately impressed, you guys have shuffle board and pool tables?- Alright! We sat ourselves, waited for 10 minutes before even placing a drink order. Had to ask the bartender for menus. Once our server did arrive to our table she seemed scattered and super busy. After placing our drinks and food order we noticed another table just walked out because of no service. Needless to say, service was on the slow side. Because of such slow service and amongst other things, our server comped my food and one of my beers. We left her a fat tip because of that but definitely will not be returning. What a bummer.
