This shop is great. The owner is a nice, fascinating man who will talk your ear off if you give him a chance. He is very knowledgeable about a variety of subjects and seems to have great pride and passion for his work. He has the equipment and experience to fix or fabricate just about any sewn good, even very heavy duty stuff. I brought in a heavy canvas bag with very heavy woven straps that were doubled up and he was able to sew through the material with no trouble. I would highly recommend his services to anyone, especially for an odd job that seems ‘unsewable.’

I found this shop mentioned in an online forum while looking for a place to do some outdoor gear repair. My bicycle panniers drawstring seams had started to rip along and they were getting worse the more I used them. I like to support small business and liked that they started off exclusively as a mountain guide service and transformed over the years into a sewing firm. I figured they’d know exactly how to reinforce the seams to prevent ripping in the future. I called Gary at Johann’s to get an estimate, and he said he’d start with the minimum of $ 20 for 15 minutes of labor. Turns out, for $ 20 he was able to reinforce the seams of both bags and a silk sleeping bag liner I brought along to get repaired. I got a call after about 4 business days saying they were ready for pickup and he said he’d hang around so I could pick them up on my way home after work. Great work at a great price. Plus, Gary is fun talking to(he’s into older British sports cars) and worked with me on when I could drop off and pick up my items. I will definitely go back if and when I need more repair work done.
