Best hookah bar I have been too. Great atmosphere, awesome customer service. The workers bring you new coals very often. As long as you don’t sit by the door, there is no draft which is great for doing tricks. Great sheesh flavors and great smoke too. I highly recommend this place.

Came here for a friends birthday. Beyond amazing service. The owner was super sweet had a DJ and got cake for the birthday girl. The employees were super helpful and nice! I love the atmosphere everyone is in a great mood. Wouldn’t mind coming here all the time to spend time with friends and relax. Definite plus! :)

I’ve been going to Genie for years. I’ve seen it exchange hands. I’ve seen the changes it’s gone through and I still love it. Hookah is a nice outlet for me, a nonsmoker to smoke and hangout with friends and meet new people. It’s convenient and chill place.

One of the most underrated hookah bars. Their flavors are really good and you get an extensive selection. The atmosphere is really diverse so you never know what to expect but it’s got a homely feel. Definitely try this bar out if you’re around the area and trying to taste some delicious hookah

Best hookah lounge in the PDX area. This coming from someone who smokes hookah daily, and out of state when I travel! Of all the lounges this one has the most friendly feel and people. The staff knows what they are doing and the hookahs are amazing!
I suggest anything with Mint but currently I love track 6 and mint! A must have! Oh and there house mix is amazing!

For me genies is not a hookah bar, it’s family. So many of us come to smoke on a regular basis. And so If your new and you stop in… It’s all the weird people, don’t be afraid that’s just how we are. We are all very close and a matter of a fact so close people ask me how long I have worked for genies…
Answer is never, never have I officially worked here. But when your at your house with your family and your mom asks you to grab her a glass of water, you do it. Well same for me. I am closer with most the people here then I am with some of my own family.
On that note let’s talk about the staff that does work currently at genies.

You will never find someone who cares for you as much as him… As long as you don’t piss him off your good! I have watched bless peoples lives. He has always tried to make genies better and better. Which is not needed cause it’s already the best in Portland. He has made the entire inside look wonderful since he started owning it. Fresh paint, new chairs… all this year. Has planned special parties. If it’s your birthday and you have a group he is always taking care of birthdays. I call him my brother, cause he is always there for me when I need him. And if your new I suggest you ask the staff who he is and get to know him cause he will always be happy to talk to you.

What to say about Connor… Well first off you should probably just call him simba cause everyone else already does.
He is the skinny white guy with long hair.
And he is a PRO at making hookah.
You like mint, always ask Connor to make it.
He is a down to earth guy who I also consider to be an awesome friend.

Also has mastered the art if hookah making.
Shawn is a hard working guy, he has lots of pet peeves. All of which I test in a daily basis. But seriously he is an awesome person. You like fruit mixes, Shawn is the guy to talk to. He knows some really good mixes.
As for all the other people you see passing out coals and helping do stuff. Well we are customers who love to help make the lives of the 3 people above a little easier.
This review is crazy long. But trust me.

People drive hundreds of miles just to smoke at genies. That’s not a joke, true story.

This place is a second home! The owner is awesome. The hookah is incredibly clean, and everything had been mastered like an art. They will get you your hookah and coals in a timely fashion. The price is worth the hookah. Very reasonable. Relaxing, fun atmosphere! If I could rate it six stars I would! Everyone should stop by here! You won’t be disappointed.

Felt like I was a fly on the wall. Or maybe there is a hookah club that I wasn’t invited too.
My husband and I went for our first hookah bar experience. We felt lost and confused and like we were a burden to the other patrons and the staff.
Once we figured out how to order and what to do, by watching others, we sat and were ignored.
It could have been a off night, but we were not impressed!

This place has been amazing! This is our first visit because we’re celebrating my friends birthday; and we were greeted at the door and asked for our ID’s, they then provided her with a free birthday drink, we chose our flavor and we weren’t to fond of it and before we had said anything they offered to change it if we needed! Then he gave us a second hookah to try the flavor that he had mixed as a courtesy, then we ordered a mixed rebel and he gave us another one on the house! I believe the man is the owner or manager, but the hospitality/​customer service has been outstanding! And his friends even came and sat down and conversated with us! We are very thankful and intrigued! We will definitely come back! Before coming here we had went to another hookah bar up the street and we weren’t thrilled. But this place has great seating, authentic music, and great people, not to mention it was only $ 18 for three people to a hookah! We will be back!

Everyone there is cool but if you don’t know them you will get ignored. We waited on hookahs for like a million years watching everyone else get theirs. Then some regular noticed us waiting and went and talked to them. When they finally came one of them was not properly loaded. There is definitely a preference to the people the owner knows, they even get their cars valeted so you know they are getting served first lol. The interior is cool though.

This place is a must visit if you like to hookah. They have a wide variety, yummy red bull drinks and the tastiest coffee I’ve had! The staff is friendly and very helpful; we got a personal visit with the owner who told us the place’s history and was very hospitable. We had a blast and recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy place to relax.

When we arrived, the ten spots they had were full, but two guys came running out to bark at us about where to park. They directed us to park behind other people. No sooner had we walked in, but were told we had to move our cars again. We get inside and yes they do a good job at preparing everything but the atmosphere is not relaxing. If your over 25 this place is not chill. The music was way too loud, you can’t even hear the person next to you. There were multiple guys dancing, lip syncing to the music and pushing each other around like they were 15 year old kids. Basically this place just fits a very young demographic. If your older and looking for a nice chill spot with Hookah and good chats with friends this is not the place.

Love this place. They clearly know how to prepare hookahs in a traditional way — not the shitty manner other places do where the pipe doesn’t hit right or your throat starts burning. They have some tarts walking around looking drunk and bored loading your hookah with coals… kind of an annoying factor but they’re easy to ignore. The owner is really friendly and so are all the Arabs who go! Sometimes it’s very packed, especially late at night on weekends so it’s better to go earlier to avoid all the loud noises. Prices are decent and lots of flavors. I adore it!
