My overall rating is a three stars & here is why: We went for the first time with a groupon for brunch for 4 people. The food is okay, not a big deal and not worth the regular price. The service was also okay. I have nothing much to say but won’t be coming back here to spend my $

Great hospitality. Great accommodations. Had a reservation through groupon for 2:30 on a Saturday… Called an hour in Advance… but called to say I was running late and extended my reservation until 3pm. Super friendly and just overall attentive to our needs. Good food. Had the bunch quesadilla and unlimited sangria at 8 $ Sangria super cheap compared to the price for unlimited drinks in the city. Happy with the experience and service. Would def go back!!!

I went to Cabo for dinner for the first time and had the most disappointing restaurant experience. I arrived with friends around 7:30PM to a restaurant that was mostly empty. The hostess asked if we had a reservation and we said no. The hostess then tells us they are expecting a large party at 9PM. Considering the restaurant was ¾ empty and it was only 7:30PM, I didn’t see how that was an issue. We were seated and the first thing the waitress says is «there’s a large party coming at 9PM so let’s get this moving.» While the waitress is taking our drink orders, the manager approaches our table recognizing my friends as loyal customers because they frequent the restaurant(or used to after this experience). The food arrives and the plating is substandard. My order of chuleta(pork chops) was thin and dry. The taste left something to be desired. The menu as a whole was overpriced considering the location, service, and quality of food. Just after 9PM, we ask the waitress about the large party and she acknowledges she hasn’t heard from them and she hopes they show up so she can make money. At this point, the constant rush to push us out during our dinner service has subsided. 30 minutes later when the large party decides to finally arrive, we are being rushed out when it was clear that our tables would not be needed. First our waitress hovered around us to close out our dinner tab and next the hostess felt there was a need to come over and let us know we had to leave. We were not offered coffee or dessert prior to being rushed out. If I was able to give this restaurant zero stars I would. With some many other restaurant options in the up and coming Throggs Neck area, I’ll skip Cabo in the future.

I wish I as greeted by the host once entering the establishment. I came to meet my friends and family to enjoy of happy hour before going out that evening. The guacamole was very fresh wish it had more of a tang or zesty lime in it. The drinks and happy hour very good. I wish the shirmp tacos weren’t so fried they could of been a bit more juicier . Apart from that the server didn’t clear our table we had to keep reminding him to take our dishes away or to pour us water. Maybe they can try to get a bus boy so the waiter can just focus on the customer and making sure our orders and drinks are okay. Other then that I enjoyed myself it had a really calm setting and had a pretty and simple décor. The manager arrived shortly and was helping out on the floor. They probably only have bus boy or food runners on the busy days. I will come back but probably have something else then the happy hour appetizers.

Tastyladies had an excellent brunch at Cabo BX today! Unlimited Sangria and Mimosas and $ 5 Margherita’s with a wide variety of brunch selections! We decided on(my all time favorite) Benedictos, a perfectly cooked oozing beautiful poached egg with a delicious crab cake over a toasted muffin with the most marvelous and zesty chipotle lime hollandaise sauce served atop along with a mixed greens salad was absolutely mucho, mucho Bueno!(better than Bueno but that’s where my espanol ends! My partner had the scrambled egg quesadilla with melty Monterey cheese and pico de gallo and sour cream on the side! A dish so simple but yet so satisfying! Chef Fernando was charming and talented as always and sent us out a sample platter of his home made churros with fresh strawberries with fresh whip, crunchy bacon and lovely perfect sunny side up eggs! Everything was so good! The restaurant was filled to the brim so reservations for brunch are strongly suggested with two seating a, 12:00 and 2:30. This brunch is well priced and a great place to bring your family, date, girlfriends, you name it for great food, great service and beautiful atmosphere!

I used to frequent this place especially when it first opened for quite some time. It was my go to happy hour spot/late night spot when I was craving a good drink and some finger food. I always enjoyed their appetizers, their entrees… eh not so much… they didn’t have enough variety in my eyes. I didn’t mind the place at all until one day when I came there to celebrate a friend of mine’s retirement and when we ordered drinks. both of us had to question if there was ANY alcohol in our drinks. I enjoyed Hennessey and Red Bull and I’ve been drinking that for some years now so I know what it tastes like. I figured let me order another one and see if it tastes any different… it was exactly the same. I requested the bartender make the drink in front of me and my friend and she stated«It is against our policy to make drinks directly in front of the customer» … are you serious? The bartenders make drinks on the mats ALLTHETIME. So why was it such an issue when I requested it that time? I told her if that was the case I’m leaving and paid for my first drink and that was it. Since then I refuse to go back. Customer service goes a long way when you run a restaurant. I suggest the management really look into their staff and their decisions behind the bar unless the management is the one telling them to skimp on drinks.

Went on a Monday for National margarita day. Joe was our server very nice & happy guy. He was the main guy prepping drinks, attending tables and more. Drinks were $ 5. Had chicken Quesadilla they were good. We got an appetizer platter comes with empanadas, Chicken wings nice & crispy with a chips to dip. Ceviche was not what I expected, it’s mix in a red tortilla type of sauce w/onions& peppers. Calamari’s are very good. I know they have Sat&Sun brunches also featured in Groupon;) check the site for deals& weekly specials. Btw there’s a Hookah spot 2 stores down which I think there connected in some way.

I liked the appearance of the establishment and its’ modern design. The food tasted bland on the safe side lacking authentic flavors. The tostada was the size of a street taco unfolded, just needed enough beans to reach the edges not just a small dollop in the center and not worth $ 8 dollars. Since this left me hungry, I opted for dessert to fill in the disappointment — Oh My How Tiny! the small cupcake chocolate lava cake and scoop of vanilla ice cream left me feeling punked! I will have to try again later when staff gains more experience to step up the snail pace service.

Food was OK. The Salsa that’s served with the free nacho’s while was not authentic tasting at all. It’s basically tomato sauce blech! Service was slow and weak. They just need work on training their wait staff. They seemed very inexperienced and amateur. Ambience was ok. They couldn’t find a happy median in their climate controls. One minute you have the AC blasting over you and the next minute the heat. Very uncomfortable to enjoy your meal that way. And finally when the dessert arrived, it was pretty disappointing. Our waitress described this molten lava brownie in such a way that we got very excited to try it. When it came out, I kid you not… it was a teaspoon of vanilla ice cream and the chocolate cake itself resembled a drakes cake. So don’t get your hopes up on that one! Will I go there again? Maybe, just to try their Margarita’s.

Just finished some amazing take out from a local place on Tremont called Cabo. The food was delicious. Great containers.(That’s huge for me.) Everything was fresh and hot. Even though the food was amazing and the delivery was fast nothing compared to the service. SERVICE! I’m at a hospital visiting my Mom. We got hungry and ordered. We asked for a delivery and were informed that this new, hip restaurant wouldn’t be delivering until Jan. 1st. A second later the person on the phone asked where would the order be delivered to. After hearing it was a hospital the switch in the attitude towards us changed. THEYACTUALLYCAREDTHATWEWEREORDERINGFROM A HOSPITAL! They immediately offered to deliver to us. Once the food got to us I met an amazing person by the name of Ruben who was the general manager of Cabo. The GM delivered our food! He even was nice enough to share with me the recent loss of his own Mother. May she rest in peace. I know she is with a son like Ruben. We hugged and I went back to Mom with my faith reinstalled in humanity. Thank you Ruben. You’ll be delivering to us again and I’ll be in ASAP for a sit down meal. Cabo understands what it takes to be a neighborhood establishment and how to build a local clientele. I wish I could give it ten stars!!! Happy New Year!!!

Party of 4. Brunch. The bartender/waiter was a really nice guy, very helpful. The food selection on the menu was okay. I got the nachos with chorizo and eggs. The nachos were soggy and stuck together. It looked like mangu. The mimosas and sangria’s(red) were really good. The owner was really nice and helped the staff with what they needed. The music was different, not Mexican more like jazz.

Great local Mexican spot. They have good music and a cool ambiance. I’ve been here a couple of times and so far the service has been great and the food good. I always get the unlimited sangria for $ 8 at brunch. They have all kinds of flavors pineapple, mango, strawberry, red and white(All good). Tacos are awesome as well…

First off I have to say thank you to Amanda who recommended we sit at the bar because she knew the place would be crowded today she was very professional and she managed staying calm explaining to us the situation of why we couldn’t make any plans for ahead to get a table. Thanks to our bartender and server for being so great to us and treating us like we were his guest in his house. Thanks for the shots on the house. You guys definitely helped make my birthday here one to remember forever and I really was surprised with the cake in the end. Thank you so much to the Cabo staff, you’re place was awesome and very comforting. Thank you for making my birthday very special today, oh and your food was slamming.

I sort of feel bad for giving it the 3 stars but I have some reasons, so here it goes… I came to Cabo on a Sunday to celebrate my birthday. My brother had a pre-paid Groupon for 6, which included three appetizers, entrees, and three desserts for the table. When we arrived at the restaurant, the first thing I noticed was that the heat wasn’t on. It was a 45° day in NY, so clearly that was a problem. When we asked the(seemingly looking) manager about it, he claimed there were spider webs in the heater and that they just turned it on, so it would eventually warm up. It didn’t. We kept our coats on the whole meal. When our waiter arrived, he took our orders without writing them down. We all ordered the steak, eggs, and plantain entrée they have on their brunch menu. I ordered mine medium well, but when we received it everyone’s steak had been cooked the same. Our steak was dry, even after adding steak sauce and hot sauce. The food wasn’t THAT bad though, and I definitely did eat most of my food. The staff at Cabo is quite friendly, and the restaurant is small and intimate. I would definitely give them another chance to wow me.

We arrive on a Saturday about 40 mins before brunch was scheduled to be over, yet it was still in full swing. There was one table empty for 2(we were a party of 2.5) and the gentleman who greeted us told us we had to wait about 5 mins… ooooook. We stood there awkwardly and stared at the table wondering why we weren’t sitting there! Lol THANKFULLY there was an amazing host/busser/lifesaver, I didn’t catch his name, young dark skinned gentleman who was soooo nice and probably the only reason we stayed. He came over and offered us the table and accommodated us properly. Shame on you bald guy who left us hanging earlier! Moving forward, we sat for at least 10 mins before anyone appeared after him. The girl who I had seen behind the bar came over and introduced herself. She was very upbeat and I was appreciative of her positive attitude. She was very informative and very sweet to my son. That’s pretty much where the good stops. We ordered the guacamole which came out right away, and it was very good. I would have eaten it a lot slower had I know I would be waiting over 40 mins for our entrees! We waited a very long time, during our wait we fed the meter twice. Almost a third time waiting for someone to bring over the bill at the end. My son was now restless and had already finished the chips the guacamole had come with. I had ordered the thin slices steak with egg and the SO ordered the tacos. We also ordered some sliders for the child. The steak was not very good, it also wasn’t very hot. The egg was warm and it sat on top. I didn’t complain because I was beyond starving and didn’t want to part with my plate! The chicken tacos were small but I was told they were«ok», the sliders however were quite yummy. The red sangria that SO had was VERY warm, and the frozen coconut margarita was just a tad strange. It looked amazing but when I stirred with my straw it seemed to have glazed over, and was soooooo sweet. Maybe it was just the machine they use, Not my favorite at all. I’m glad I finally had my tried the place, I was curious about it for some time. The employees we encountered once seated were great, but food/drink wise, I will not likely be back for.

I’ve actually been to Cabo a few times already, at this point. What are the pros & cons? PROS: — Plenty of parking: If you’re coming by car, this is a great neighborhood to grab a spot. You can even grab one right out front! — Service: Whenever I’ve stopped here, for dinner usually, I’ve had nothing but great service. — Food: I think the food is AMAZING! Even though I tend not to eat pork, I had the Gordita de Carnitas recently. The pork was succulent, the masa cake was EVERYTHING, and the ranchero style beans are the way beans SHOULD be done. CONS: — Public transportation: The only way to get out to Throgs Neck is via bus or a taxi. — Menu variety: I wish there were more variety on the menu, in terms of entrees. I think it might be a bit limited. However, less choices might be great for others. — The tortilla chips you tend to get served once you sit down aren’t always all THAT fresh. Overall, a great place to dine out whether alone or with friends!

Honestly, I really don’t like writing negative reviews. I make it a point to go into an establishment with an open mind hoping to get the absolute best experience. But in this case the absolute best did not happen. I have been to Cabo on several occasions for their bar scene, which has never disappointed. When ordering a drink I keep it simple, and most times I’ll have a glass of wine so there’s never any problems there. The décor has a little of that purple neon Don Coqui-esque lighting that almost every new restaurant I have been to in the Bronx or Westchester area seems to have, which is fine as that hued lighting provides a nice ambience. On this one particular Sunday morning, we decided to try out their brunch. Upon arriving, the hostess, that looked all of a mere 18 years old, just didn’t seem happy to be there. Her demeanor wasn’t pleasant at all. No smile upon us entering, no welcoming hello, just a look of unhappiness. Maybe it was too early at 12:00pm or maybe that’s just how she looks. Now, on the other hand, and what gave this restaurant their two and a half stars was our waiter Ryan and the other servers. Ryan was the complete opposite of our ‘resting unhappy face’, hostess. He was pleasant and attentive, as well as the other servers/managers that constantly checked on us and kept our mimosa glasses full. Ryan took our orders, mine was the Camarones de Benny, which was described as a sweet cornmeal muffin, with grilled shrimp, poached eggs, topped with a salsa verde sauce. The menu description showed a great spin on the original eggs benedict, and I thought what an interesting combination?! My beau ordered the hamburger with chorizo. After a pretty long wait, I received my order and the Camarones de Benny that arrived was nothing compared to the menu description. It arrived lukewarm and consisted of not a sweet corn muffin, but a cold, untoasted English Muffin. If you’re going to revert to an english muffin then at least toast it! What a disappointment! In addition to the missing corn muffin, the salsa verde sauce was on the verge of cold and started to congeal on top of the poached eggs, yuck! And to add to the unpleasantness one of the poached eggs had a hard yolk and the other egg had no yolk at all!!! Where did the yolk go? What a mess!!! My beaus hamburger had a smear of chorizo, I guess you could describe it that way, as the chorizo was similar to maybe a pâté. The hamburger was warm and not hot, but was pretty tasty with the added chorizo. It would’ve given this place an additional half star if it was at least hot. It seemed they held our plates back waiting for the french fries, that came with the burger because the fries were piping hot. Though the restaurant has been a great addition to the neighborhood, and is a great spot for a quick drink, on this particular brunch Sunday, the food presented did not impress and was mediocre. I won’t be doing brunch here for awhile, but may try their lunch when the kitchen shouldn’t be too overwhelmed. Ambience: 2.5 Food: 1.0 Service: 2.5 Cost: 4.0(with online promo) Rating: 2.5
