My wife and i found this place on Unilocal… food was absolutely delicious. Our waitress… I think her name was Thalia… Her customer service skills are excellent. She knew the menu well and suggested some dishes… I got 4 tacos all different and my wife got the Carne Asada nachos… with a Michilada to wash it down. We will definitely be going back when passing through… Very Well worth the stop fellow« Unilocalers»

Upon second visit to this place, still waiting on that 5 star meal. Service was great, our waitress was very attentive. Had the house margarita on rocks, was very watered down, barely any alcohol. Had a breakfast plate for dinner, was ok. Chips and salsa are good.

We’ve been to Taqueria San Miguel several times because we live very close and it’s convenient. The Chavelas and Michelas are really great and kept us coming back. Their menu is great and extensive, but the food itself is extremely bland. Its as if, they don’t use salt when cooking. I have to salt and re-salt my food to give it some flavor, and I typically don’t add additional salt other than what is used when cooking. Even the salsa brought to the table for the chips is very bland. We stopped going because the food just doesn’t have that well balanced soulful flavor Mexican food is known for. I wouldn’t recommend it as a place to get a delicious meal. Sad for us, because it’s so close to home.

I travel to the desert for work on occasion and I have the bad habit of frequenting the same restaurants each time I go… this time however I decided to try something different… well a different restaurant. One thing I like to do when frequenting a New Mexican place is order me a Michelada cause I love beer… the Michelada was a decent size and it was a tangy spicy not an I’m on fire after 3 sips spicy. I ordered my fave a large shrimp cocktail with extra avocado cause my boss gives me a meal credit that I’m not about to let go to waste… the shrimp were plenty and the sauce just needed a bit of catsup(don’t judge), tapatio, lime, and salt to bring it to perfection… they provided saltine crackers. The chips & salsa were good, the service was attentive, and yes I went back and took my favorite person with me.

Best mariscos in town and Mexican cuisine. This restaurant upgraded and improved their menus and their indoor design. The atmosphere is most inviting and more organized. It’s definitely a better place to come and enjoy. I recommend this place to those that would like REAL Mexican food.

Came from Orange County for a family reunion and came here to meet up with some family. I’m a big Michelada fan but it’s rare to find a place that makes them well; I’ve had my share of bad ones. THALIA just made us the BESTEVER Michelada. She’s awesome! Great attitude and very pleasant. Our table had shrimp burritos, lengua taco, shrimp cocktail and carne asada quesadilla. Everything was really good. The only thing they could work on is having more staff or being more attentive of customers walking in and the time it takes to get a menu and drinks. Perhaps they weren’t expecting such a big crowd at 3pm.

4 stars for the food, 3 for the service. Husband had a combo enchilada /taco plate, I had 2 tacos al pastor. The food was delicious, flavors rich and authentic, and the chicken in the enchilada was moist and flavorful. The complimentary chips were very crispy which I like. Service was friendly and food came out in a reasonable amount of time even though restaurant was busy. Then the problem. We waited and waited for the bill. Finally someone who was not our waiter brought it. Then we waited and waited and waited for our change(we paid cash). I don’t understand why the waiters don’t understand that it negatively colors your experience and possibly the tip if the customer walks out exasperated. Until then would have given a rave review. And there were plenty of staff so no apparent reason for the long long waits. Strange. Prices are very reasonable and portions generous. I would go back but not if I were in a rush.

The Coachella Valley is full of Mexican restaurants, from tiny, hole-in-the-wall taquerías like Avila’s, to grandiose establishments like Las Casuelas Nuevas. Taquería San Miguel is somewhere in between. OK, it’s not very big, but it always seems to be busy. And there is a reason — the food is very good. The obligatory chips and salsa came out and they were good; I thought the salsa was a bit heavy on the cilantro, but it was tasty and not overly spicy. If you need to jazz things up a bit, there are some bottles of Tapatío, Búfalo, and a couple of others including a habañero salsa which I didn’t dare try. I like a good Chile Colorado, but none was to be seen on the menu. I opted for the Bistec Ranchero, which seemed similar. Instead of chunks of beef, this had thin slices covered with onions, some mild pepper slices and pieces of tomato, all in a red sauce. I quite enjoyed it. My wife got her usual chile relleno and a taco and said both were not spectacular, but OK. My advice: you want real Mexican food? Taquería San Miguel has it. Del Taco around the corner doesn’t. Get the real thing here.

This is my favorite spot to go for Mexican food. I usually get some type of seafood but everything here is great! I’m obsessed with the chevelas here. Its a little pricey but you get great quality food.

Mariscos are king here. Yet here we are… in the middle of the desert. Don’t let this fact fool you. The freshness had me convinced I was next the ocean. There’s around 9 diff. combinations of ceviche glasses pictured on the menu. After a couple of the best Micheladas I’ve ever had, I regret that I cannot recall their names. I ordered blindly«that one looks good!» My finger landed on ‘everything’ cup: shrimp, fish, pulpo, avocado, and a myriad of other tasty-limey marinated mystery-sea-edibles. What I still can’t get over is how fresh it looked at tasted. It was gone in minutes so… no pics. Service was fast, conversational and friendly, and after a taco, 2 micheladas, 2 ceviches, and a beer or 2, our bill was around $ 35-ish before tax. That’s a serious deal for this kind of experience. Seating is scarce, but worth waiting for on a busy day. The décor and vibe is Baja cantina, 1967. If you’re in the area and craving, this is a must stop. Period.

This restaurant continues to serve amazing food, but unfortunately, I cannot give it any more than 1 star for their terrible service. Both times I’ve been here for dinner. The first time, I fell in love with their food. That’s what brought me back the second time. I don’t trust anyone else in the desert to make authentic Mexican food. However, after my second experience, I won’t be coming back until their management makes some changes. For the food: Fresh chips and salsa(warning: might be slightly spicy). Amazing tacos(Al pastor has been my favorite) only ~$ 1.25. Plus $ 1 each for rice and beans. Delicious campechana(seafood cocktail) has avocado slices and comes with crackers. Burrito is big enough for 1 – 2 people and just enough cheese. For the service: My bf and I had just gone to the gym, so we were both really hungry, which really didn’t help. We stood by the door waiting to be seated. After some tables looked up at us, we decided to approach the lady at the register to get her attention. She looked up and continued her business. After a minute, my bf got her attention, and she pointed to a table in the back corner. We seated ourselves and waited for the menus. A guy rushed over with the menu and said«I’ll be right back, ok?» with a pleading look in his eyes. He came back after 5 minutes to get our drinks. He promised to have the chips and salsa when he came back with the drinks. Yea, he got that right, but after another 5 minutes. In less than 5 minutes, we finished our chips. I thought we’d get our food soon, so we waited some more. When I couldn’t stand my hunger, my bf had to walk up to one of the girls to get us some more chips. She said ok, but we got nothing after 10 minutes. My bf went up a second time to ask her what happened, but still nothing after 5 minutes. My bf flags the guy down, who came back with chips 5 minutes later. We waited for over 40 minutes before getting our 2 tacos and 1 burrito(enchilada style). During the meal, it was impossible to flag down any of the servers because either they were absent or never near us in the back of the room. After I finished eating, I was still hungry, so my bf walked up to the girl a third time to get some more chips. She responded«I’ll try», but her voice said«not a chance». That was the last straw After more minutes of waiting, I gave up on those chips. We were ignored for a good half hour. We were forced to walk up to you to get your attention. Then when we do have your attention, you don’t follow up. That to me is unacceptable.
