Okay so I still like launching here but they need to notify if there is no parking for boat trailers before you pay for the launch fee. We paid the launch fee and launched the boat and then saw there was no parking at all available. So we had to pay another $ 10 to park at wimpys marina which I think is complete bullshit. We paid $ 20 to launch a boat. Just a tad bit ridiculous in my opinion. We could’ve launched 2 boats. The person who is running the place on the weekend, especially labor day weekend, should be letting people know if the lot is full or not.

This is our boat launch ramp of choice in the North Delta. Situated off Walnut Grove Rd just west of I5 behind a rustic little dinner house and bar called Wimpie’s. Don’t cross the bridge or you’ve gone too far! You’ll only pay $ 10 bucks to launch your boat. Timing can be crucial especially on the holidays. We came in on the 4th of July at about 3pm and had no wait! Paying is on the honor system. You place your money in an envelope and place it in a lock box. There’s a cute little bait shop where you can get ice and essentials that you forgot to pack. Also, if fishing, they’ll give you the days report and the setup to use to catch that big one! We like to cruise west toward Walnut Grove. Then we go thru the locks, an engineering contraption that can be closed at a moments notice to control the flow of water with a warning it will happen by the sound of a loud horn! We have yet to experience that! We cruise thru Walnut Grove, pass under 2 bridges and find a place to anchor in the cool evening Delta breeze, far from the madding crowd of jet ski and ski boat enthusiasts. It’s our little vacation that’s 40 minutes from home but miles from our troubles. New Hope offers lots of amenities from berthing, boat launching, guest docks, restrooms, showers, propane & pump-out. Enjoy dinner at one of our favorite river locations like Wimpie’s or Guisti’s both accessible from car or boat or pack the ice chest and picnic basket and graze throughout the day!
