Been to the grassroots a couple of times. My verdict is that it’s a pretty legit coffee shop. I usually drive up to Thomasville for lunch or brunch once in a while. After my meal I often find myself getting a cup of latte or tea here. I like the vibe and it’s a good place to chill and chat with friends. It is somewhat a local hotspot and can get pretty busy sometimes. The best part is that I discover artwork and paintings here and there at this coffee shop which is very cool. Pay a visit to the grassroots, I think you will like it!

Nice relaxing place to grab a cup of coffee. They are located in such a beautiful historic building, and the inside has such a cool atmosphere. They roast their coffee in-house as well. Iced latte was good, but I’ll remember to ask for an extra shot or two next time– it was a little on the weak side. If you can, grab that table with the window seat by the door so you can take in the scenery as you sit back with your coffee. :)

Order the Breakfast BLT and you wont be disappointed! It was the perfect amount of B, L, and T with a cheese spread and everything bagel! I also ordered the Triple Berry Smoothie it was a little tasteless and had a lot of seeds(which I should have expected).

Went to Thomasville with my boyfriend and we decided to stop in Grassroots for something to drink. The atmosphere was really cool and it had a lot of art on the walls, the place was also very clean. I had their chia tea latte and my boyfriend has a smoothie and they were both so good! While I would recommend this place to anyone that is passing through. The only bad thing is that the staff was rude and not every interactive, they didn’t seem like they wanted to be there and they just came off cold.

I’m visiting from PA and have been here three times in three days. Enjoyed it each time, service has been more than friendly and helpful each time. Everything has been ready quickly, and the sandwich and coffees I’ve gotten have all been great. Prices are reasonable, and there’s none of the pressure you feel at the«chain» places to get in and get out. I’d feel perfectly comfortable grabbing a table and camping out. Wish we had one back home!

For credibility, my husband and I are in our late 40’s, have traveled extensively all over the world and have lived in 9 states, moving for our careers. We walked upon this coffee shop and as I’ve read in other reviews, did notice«a following» of regulars comfortably seated inside having conversations, using iPads or laptops, etc. The majority of folks in there either had a near empty coffee or tea, or nothing at all. We customers were in for a shock. One rule of thumb that has proven itself true time and time again in our travels is «Judge a restaurant first by the cleanliness of the bathroom!» OHBOY! I have never taken photos of the inside of a bathroom, but this one is just too horrific to explain without them! As I entered the women’s bathroom, I noticed a distinctly unpleasant stench of «poo.» Not only was the toilet badly soiled(and it was very dry!) but the baby changing table was so disgusting I actually vomited(in the toilet!). In the photos I’m attaching here, you can see the rolled up bits of baby poo all over the terry cloth fabric of this FILTHY, FILTHY baby changing pad atop a wooden bench! I shun to think what mother would have laid her baby on top of this poo enough to roll it in to tiny pellets like that but worse still, how in the WORLD does ANY business leave this? It was one baby’s poo, not even something that happened an hour ago! This appeared to be obviously left like this for at least days, maybe weeks, though I suspect months! I rinsed my mouth and immediately sought out a manager. After being interrogated by a young lady who worked there, as to WHY I needed to speak to a manager(and I told her!), she didn’t flinch and hesitantly went to retrieve him. The young man looked at me, the entire time, glazed over as if I were just boring him to tears. HECOULDN’T HAVECAREDLESS! He wasn’t even polite! I explained it all very matter of factly, unemotionally, yet he just didn’t care! I had to ask if he would please follow-up and have someone go in there to dispose of that large diaper changing pad and replace it with something more sanitary. He hesitated! Then he said, «I’ll have someone look in to it.» That was that! I told that portion first because it merits the attention. Before I went in to the restroom we were«un“greeted by a young lady at the counter who could not have been bothered to answer any of our questions, much less make suggestions! They weren’t busy either! The entire staff and atmosphere of this coffee shop was just awful! We will never return and it’s a shame because the coffee itself tasted pretty good!

Still bad… I try to «shop local» and support small businesses. This does not mean I will support you regardless of your customer service. Step up and train your employees.

Comfy spot with great coffee and fresh baked goods. Iced latte, pound cake and doughnuts were all delicious.

I always make at least one stop at Grassroots when visiting Thomasville. The Black & White is delicious. This time I tried the Georgia Peanut sandwich, which was great! The cajun potato salad was okay, I’ll probably try another side next time.

The Thomasville Coffeehouse tunnels in customers at a rapid pace. The downtown go-to for locals and commuters, Grassroots spacious environment caters to nearly all patrons. Fresh coffee, well-crafted sandwiches and luscious pastries are the reason why people simply can’t stay away. I would make the 45-minute drive from Tallahassee to spend the day here at Grassroots. The brick walls, simple décor and ample seating will continue to draw in customers like me. I’ve heard through the grapevine that Grassroots even hosts local artists for in-house performances! An iced Americano, Caprese sandwich and a maple bacon donut are a few of my favorite things. At Grassroots, you can find excellent versions of these phenomena. You can find my signature of approval engraved in the exposed brick wall.

Definitely better than any of the chain coffee places(Starbucks, Caribou, etc.). Great atmosphere, lots of art on the walls, very friendly staff and great coffee.

What’s up with this place being the most hopping joint in tville? 2 stars for ambiance but the coffee is nasty and they have not had a menu item I asked for literally 75% of the time, including tea, ice, and coffee. The staff are rude as well, like they think they are hipsters because thy forgot they live in thomasville georgia.

Meh. I had kind of high expectations coming in here, but they must have been too high because I thought this place wasn’t that great. First of all, the coffee store was literally packed with people. The line seemed to go on forever and moved at a snail’s pace. It felt like I waited for an eternity until I was finally able to order. The menu isn’t really that special. They’ve got pretty much the standard coffee fare, some good baked goods. They were apparently out of a lot of things when I went in based on what I overheard from the baristas. There seemed to be a lot of baristas working here but the line didn’t seem to move any faster. I can’t figure out if they were all just socializing or what. None of them were particularly friendly or warm either. I ordered an iced coffee. It was okay. Not great. I probably would only come here out of desperation, not for legit coffee. The atmosphere is really cute but this place leaves a lot to be wanted.

I came here while Christmas shopping, and it was just the ticket for a little pick-me-up. The coffee was delicious. I felt very much like an outsider(there seemed to be a pretty strong«local» crowd who stared me down when I entered), but I’m no stranger to that feeling(hello, East Village NYC). The service was friendly, albeit a little awkward. No one asked if they could help me, they also just stared, and then I placed my order, hoping that the barista was actually listening to me. The café is very«cool» looking, very hipster-ish, and HUGE. All in all, I liked it, and I’ll probably be back.

I worked across the street at Kevin’s so I am here almost every morning and often for lunch. Since I get here fairly early, my wait hasn’t been that long. Sitting and enjoying my(always on point) Americano I have seen the line go ½ way across the shop(because it is so great and popular). This isn’t as fast as the Starbucks you are probably used to. It’s a local coffee shop. The coffee is fantastic and the wait is well worth it. You will see groups and regulars meeting here every morning. I have tried their pulled pork sandwich for lunch that was highly recommended. It was good for a lunch bite. If you are ever in Thomasville, drop in for a Joe and either relax in the shop inside or outside or go for a walk and discover the artsy town.

Coffee is solid and the place is done up well. Love the feel and really enjoy sitting in the old chairs. Service seems to be a big issue(from past reviews as well). We placed our order and sat down, not 10 feet from the counter. We were never called for our drinks. When we went to check on them, they were sitting on the counter, warm. Our party of three and another party of two were the only patrons in the shop at the time. Very certain no one called out to us, as the two employees on at the time were busy cleaning and other duties. Will be back, but will stand at the counter until my drinks are done being made.

We visited here before Thanksgiving and immediately fell in — love with the place. Great barrista and selection. Ambiance for business people, college students and downtown shoppers. Tables abound, exposed brick, wifi and art work on the walls. In fact they hold regular art events in the store. Street parking in a vibrant downtown with a wide array of shopping options. Highly recommend! UPDATE: I now live in Thomasville and Grassroots is my morning stop.

Coffee of the day is always full body and fresh made. Delicious seasonal coffees of you like me like a change once in awhile. Great salted Carmel Mocha. I Iike the casual seating with some groups of comfy chairs along with tables and chairs. Outside seating and free Wifi is always great.

Local coffee shops that were all the rage back in the 90’s have mostly gone now. They’ve been replaced by an overpriced sugar-laden coffee chain that offers nothing but what the next guy is having. Basically, a big-mac for coffee. Grassroots has no pretension but just down-homey goodness of what a coffee shop should be. They have the standard coffees(regular, latte, espresso, etc.) listed along with a number of different beans — all roasted and ground on-site twice a week. I tried the Antigua french pressed coffee and it was simply awesome. Perfect strength, no additives — just straight good coffee. The walls of the wood decorated room are lined with coffee bags, there are couches and street side tables, the music is low and there are extras like cookies and biscotti if you have need dipping assistance. This is one of our must stops when we come to town. The knowledgeable staff is friendly, the prices are reasonable and it is a great smooth way to wake up in this beautiful small town.
